Protests outside hotels housing asylum seekers continued. Police kept demonstrators and counter-demonstrators apart in Epping, Bristol and Birmingham. The government wants speedier asylum decisions and to cut hotel housing through independent adjudicators. The backlog stands at 106,000, with 51,000 appeals.

In Westerhoven, four Israeli tourists were hurt at a Center Parcs paintball after a group described as Dutch Arabs shouted antisemitic threats. A 15-year-old Utrecht boy was arrested; police probe continues. Israel urged the Netherlands to protect Israelis and bring attackers to justice.
