Breitbart: Trump Signs Orders to Close De Minimis Loophole Globally, Raise Tariffs on Brazil to 50 Percent
President Trump signed executive orders to close the de minimis loophole, which previously allowed low-value imports under $800 to enter the U.S. duty-free. Effective August 29, these shipments will now face applicable duties, addressing concerns over counterfeit goods and market disruption.
Additionally, tariffs on Brazil will rise from 10% to 50% due to the government's actions against former President Jair Bolsonaro and his supporters, which the White House describes as human rights abuses. A universal 50% tariff on semi-finished copper products will also be implemented.
