While hybrids and plug-in hybrids show only modest reductions, BEVs significantly lower emissions after just 17,000 kilometers of use.
The study emphasizes that fully electric vehicles are crucial for decarbonizing passenger transport, which is responsible for a large portion of transport sector emissions. With the ongoing decarbonization of Europe’s electricity grid, BEVs are projected to become even cleaner, supporting the EU's goal to phase out combustion engine vehicle sales by 2035.
