Red State: Opinion: Donald Trump Brought This on Himself
Opinion: Donald Trump Brought This on Himself
Former President Donald Trump has been indicted on 37 counts related to the unlawful retention of classified documents, including nuclear secrets and military vulnerabilities. Trump brought this on himself by keeping sensitive information in boxes at Mar-a-Lago, exposing himself to significant legal vulnerabilities. The motivation behind the indictment is debated, but political bias cannot be ignored.

WATCH: Rachel Maddow Inadvertently Exposes Political Motivation for Trump Indictment
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow suggested a plea deal where former President Trump agrees to never run for office again in exchange for less punishment after being indicted by the DOJ. Maddow hinted at a potential "political solution to this criminal problem," causing further accusations of the government's politicization of the case. The Trump prosecution is viewed as political persecution by many and has been called hypocritical and partisan.

Spanish leftist party unity may improve Socialist PM Sánchez’s re-election odds
More than a dozen small leftist parties have agreed to form a joint ticket for the upcoming Spanish general election, providing support for Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's reelection prospects. The deal between Sánchez's Socialists and United We Can, as well as 14 other groups, will allow the newly formed alliance Sumar to compete in the election. While polls predict that the right-wing Popular Party is likely to win, a surge in support for left-wing parties could help Sánchez stay in power and work out a new coalition government.

Boris Johnson Resigns From Parliament After Allegedly Misleading MPs
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigned as a Member of Parliament on Friday following allegations of his involvement in breaking Covid-era policies during his time as Prime Minister. Johnson allegedly misled members of Parliament about violating the country's Covid-era restrictions by throwing parties at Downing Street. Despite admitting to misleading Parliament, he denied doing it intentionally and referred to the Commons Privileges Committee, which conducted the report, as a "kangaroo court."

The New American: The Time for Optics is Over
The Time for Optics is Over
Politics is often seen as a polite and subtle art, but this is an idealized concept that does not reflect the reality of politics throughout history. We are now in a different place, and we must understand that conflict and struggle have been the rule in politics. The Left is playing for keeps, and we must meet them as forcefully as they are coming after us to prevent tyranny, violence, and impoverishment upon our children.

The recent case of a Middle Eastern refugee stabbing babies in France shows that being politically correct can result in horrific consequences. Similarly, the unsealing of the indictment against former President Donald Trump reveals that this is a serious predicament for him. Republicans must fight fire with fire and demonstrate that they are capable of dishing out as the Democrats do, impeaching Biden and indicting him and his family members, for instance, to protect the entire Republic.

The Blaze: Hillary Clinton responds to Trump indictment news by advertising 'BUT HER EMAILS' hats
Hillary Clinton responds to Trump indictment news by advertising 'BUT HER EMAILS' hats
Hillary Clinton tweeted about her "BUT HER EMAILS" hats in response to an indictment against former President Donald Trump. The limited-edition hats support @onwardtogether groups working to strengthen democracy. Republican Rep. Nancy Mace, among others, called out Clinton for gloating about the double standard of justice.

Elon Musk has said that it appears the justice system is targeting Trump more than other political figures. The indictment unsealed on Friday charges Trump with felony violations of national security laws and participating in a conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Breitbart: Survey: Donald Trump Holds Double-Digit Lead in Wisconsin
Survey: Donald Trump Holds Double-Digit Lead in Wisconsin
A recent survey by Public Policy Polling shows former President Donald Trump leading the field with 41% support among likely Republican primary voters in Wisconsin, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis falling 16 points behind at 25%. Former Vice President Mike Pence, who formally announced his presidential candidacy this week, came in a distant third place with 8% support. The survey did not include several other Republican candidates in the race, including former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.

Several other state-level surveys show Trump leading the Republican field, with a Vote TXT poll finding him leading in Nevada by 30 points, a UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies survey showing him leading in California by 18 points, and Emerson College Polling data showing him up 42 points in the Iowa caucus with 62% support. Trump still takes the edge in a head-to-head matchup with DeSantis, with 43% to the Florida governor’s 39%. The survey also found that 69% view Trump favorably and 65% say the same of DeSantis.

The Federalist Papers: New Survey Shows How Many American Churches Have Armed Response Teams to Deal With Potential Mass Shooters
New Survey Shows How Many American Churches Have Armed Response Teams to Deal With Potential Mass Shooters
Over half of Protestant pastors have an "intentional plan for an active shooter situation" for their churches, with 81% implementing at least one safeguard, according to a Lifeway survey. Of those surveyed, 54% of the churches had armed congregants on site, while 21% had a strict no-firearms policy. Furthermore, 20% of churches had armed private security personnel, and 5% had uniformed police officers present during worship. Religious motivations were behind 17% of mass shootings in houses of worship between 2018 and 2020.

This increased focus on church security has created partnerships between places of worship and local law enforcement. Churches can now contract off-duty police officers to enhance their security. However, most local police organizations enforce strict non-discriminatory guidelines for officers serving as security personnel. Additionally, some churches have established volunteer security teams that are armed and prepared to protect their congregation. The commitment of religious institutions to protect their members reflects the need for safety measures in public spaces.

Breitbart: Discord Leaks: Saudi Leader MBS Promised ‘Major Economic Consequences’ for Biden Threats
Discord Leaks: Saudi Leader MBS Promised ‘Major Economic Consequences’ for Biden Threats
Saudi Crown Prince MBS expressed frustration with the Biden administration and threatened "major economic consequences for Washington" after Biden vowed to impose consequences on Saudi Arabia for slashing oil production. The threat was revealed in a document obtained by The Washington Post as part of the Discord Leak, a trove of purportedly classified documents shared on Discord. The FBI had arrested a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard in April in relation to the leaked documents. The Washington Post has "scores" of yet-to-be-published secret documents from the leak.

The Washington Post accuses the Biden administration of failing to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for the murder of Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, while the Saudi government has denied knowing anything about it. MBS threatened to alter the decades-old US-Saudi relationship and impose significant economic costs on the US if it retaliated against the oil cuts, according to the document. The White House National Security Council did not dispute the accuracy of the threat but suggested it might have been taken out of context. The Biden administration "continues to collaborate with Saudi Arabia" despite criticism from human rights advocates.

Consultants Slugged Taxpayers $671M Over Five Years in Australian State
The Victorian government spent over $670 million on consultants over the past five years, with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) receiving $79.6 million. The state is under investigation for engaging PwC, a firm involved in a national tax scandal, leading to calls for assurance from the state. Opponents of the spending complained that the real cost could be higher due to consultancy expenses under $10,000 not being counted. The government defended the increased use of consultants on specialised advice for Covid-19 and promised to reduce spending moving forward.

Kaley Cuoco And Chris Messina Became Best Pals Filming ‘Based On A True Story’
Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina star in Peacock's crime thriller Based On A True Story, about a couple who join the lucrative world of true-crime podcasts. They rope in a plumber, portrayed by Tom Bateman, to help capture the West Side Ripper, a serial killer terrorizing Los Angeles. The eight-episode series is a laugh-out-loud romp on the dark side, with the three lead actors delivering fantastic performances and magical onscreen chemistry.

Cuoco and Messina had never met before working on the show, but it quickly became apparent they were friends in real life. They had a lot of fun making the series and got in trouble a lot as they often went off the rails during filming. Despite the dark material, everyone had a good time on set. The season ends with a cliffhanger, leaving viewers hoping for a second dose of Ava and Nathan.

Fox News: Kansas Gov. Kelly taps DEA inspection chief to head highway patrol
Kansas Gov. Kelly taps DEA inspection chief to head highway patrol
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has appointed Erik Smith, head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Inspection Division, as the State's highway patrol superintendent. Smith will replace retiring superintendent and Colonel Herman Jones, who faced sexual harassment allegations from female employees and federal lawsuits over policing. Until Smith assumes his position on 7 July, Patrol Lieutenant Colonel Jason DeVore, who has also been named as a defendant in a sexual harassment lawsuit, will lead the department. Smith, a Kansas native, must be confirmed by the Kansas Senate next year.

Critics argue that the highway patrol targets motorists from states with legalized marijuana with a tactic called the "Kansas two-step," and that they use this tactic even when they have no reasonable suspicion of a crime. Jones and DeVore settled a lawsuit last year after two majors alleged that they were pushed out of the patrol in 2020 for filing sexual harassment complaints. They received over a year's worth of back pay when they were restored to their previous positions.

Devout Catholic pilgrim becomes heroic 'backpack hero' in France
A French backpacker fights and stops a knife-wielding Syrian refugee from stabbing four children in a park. The "backpack hero" says his faith gave him strength to tackle the assailant and his devotion to the Virgin Mary helped guide him. The attacker has been arrested and was found to be carrying Christian insignia, although the backpacker finds it inconceivable that someone who was truly Christian would attack the vulnerable.

He had written extremely violent and hate-filled entries in his journals such as “Destruction of the new world and earth will be destroyed from all sides. National Review: Electric Vehicles: The Toyoda War
Electric Vehicles: The Toyoda War
Akio Toyoda, the CEO of Toyota and grandson of the company's founder, has been a notable skeptic of electric vehicles (EVs) and has questioned their supposed environmental friendliness. He has also highlighted the cost of rapid decarbonization to the auto industry and consumers and raised concerns about the potential loss of jobs if gasoline-powered cars are banned too hastily. Toyoda's reluctance to embrace EVs has made him the subject of criticism, especially from institutional investors playing the ESG game and regulators and governments pressuring automakers to go electric. Progressive investors are now seeking to oust him as chairman of the company and are pushing a resolution at Toyota's upcoming shareholder meeting to make the auto maker disclose its climate-related lobbying.
