The Epoch Times: Abbott to Deploy Floating Border Barrier in Rio Grande
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott plans to deploy a 1,000-foot-long floating barrier in the Rio Grande to prevent illegal immigrants from crossing the southern border. The man-made wall floating in the water, comprised of strategically placed buoys measuring four feet in diameter, aims to prevent people from reaching the border and deter unlawful entry into the country. The water barrier comes at a political risk, as it may draw criticism from hostile media, but the state argues that it is necessary for proactive deterrence to address illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has expressed his commitment to securing the U.S.–Mexico border, allocating substantial financial aid to landowners who have been affected by property damage caused by drug smugglers and human traffickers. Abbott signed six bills related to border security, allocating funding for law enforcement training, expanding the use of National Guard surveillance drones, and granting increased powers to Border Patrol agents under Texas law. The state has furthermore allocated an additional $5.1 billion that would go towards border wall construction. Abbott has been highly critical of the Biden administration's perceived lack of action on the issue, leading Texas to adopt a proactive approach in addressing illegal immigration and fighting drug cartels.

Daily Wire: Trump Releases Video Message After Being Hit With Second Indictment
Former President Donald Trump releases a video message after being indicted on multiple criminal charges related to his handling of classified records after leaving office. He claims to be an innocent man and accuses his opponents of weaponizing the Justice Department and FBI. Trump says he will fight the charges and prove his innocence.
The Federalist: Elitists Hate Trump Because He Gives The Wrong People Hope
"Republicans against Trump" shared a video of a couple dancing with a cardboard cutout of Trump while holding moonshine, all while surrounded by trucks, flags and yard waste. The group, made up of "pro-democracy conservative Republicans fighting Trump & Trumpism," shared the video to belittle Trump supporters, showcasing an elitist attitude towards the working class. Despite Trump's success in creating full employment, conservative judges, and energy independence, the establishment Republicans appear to despise those who still celebrate Trump, potentially due to their resentment towards a cultural figure that sided with the people.
Red State: The Real 'Threat to Democracy?' Our Banana Republic Department of (in)Justice
The Justice Department indicted Trump on charges similar to ones previously refused against Clinton and Biden for possession of classified documents during their time in office. It is unclear what these documents contain, but it is unlikely that they include anything worth pursuing a criminal prosecution. The indictment is an abuse of the culture of secrecy in the United States government and a weaponization of its power to take down political rivals. This biased Department of Justice is a greater threat to democracy than the actions of previous Republican presidents whose actions led to the investigation of Woodward and Bernstein.
Fox News: Conservatives warn Biden after he jokes about alleged bribery scandal: 'Accountability is coming'
President Biden was called out on Twitter after he made a joke in response to an alleged bribery scandal. House Oversight Committee members were informed by a whistleblower that the FBI had a document indicating that Biden had participated in a $5 million criminal bribery scheme while he was vice president. During a press conference, a reporter asked about Rep. Nancy Mace's comment that there is "damning evidence the sitting President of the United States sold out his country in an ongoing bribery scheme." Biden responded with a joke, but many commentators on Twitter saw the matter as serious.
Liberty Nation: Supreme Court Backs Racially Drawn Congressional Districts
The Supreme Court upheld Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, requiring race-conscious district construction, forming a five-vote majority between the Court's liberal bloc and conservative Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh. Meanwhile, Congressional Democrats continue to criticize Justice Clarence Thomas for his relationship with a billionaire, while Thomas and Samuel Alito requested extensions on financial disclosure filings.

Fox News: Atlanta's 'Cop City' will benefit inner city residents despite activists' objections, expert says
Protests erupt over the planned "Cop City" police training facility in Atlanta. The $90 million facility aims to support local police and first responders but, though publicly funded by the non-profit Atlanta Police Foundation, many are concerned it will militarize the police force and harm marginalized communities. The council voted to approve the funding on Tuesday, sparking further resistance from the community. Some have called for a referendum to put the question to voters in the election later this year. Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow, Charles "Cully" Stimson, argues the training facility would benefit the city and reduce Fourth and Fifth Amendment violations.

Fox News: LIV Golf's Bryson DeChambeau suggests 9/11 families should forgive Saudi Arabia: 'Nobody's perfect'
Golfer Bryson DeChambeau expressed support for LIV Golf's goal of making alliances with opponents of their financial backer, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), who are said to have funded terrorism before and after the 9/11 attacks in the United States. His comments came in response to a question about the PIF following the announcement of the historic merger between LIV, the PIF, and the DP World Tour. Survivors and families of victims of 9/11 have criticized LIV for its links to the PIF.
Chairperson of 9/11 Families United, Terry Strada, criticized the PGA Tour for "maligning" LIV Golf and using their stories to oppose the younger circuit, which was seen as a threat. Strada spoke negatively about PIF, while DeChambeau did not comment on the political aspects. The PIF will be the primary financial supporter of the new merger, and DeChambeau is reportedly one among many players to receive a $150m signing bonus to leave the PGA for LIV.

The Epoch Times: Global Shares Edge Up as Fed Pause Bets Bolster Sentiment
Global equities rose slightly on Friday, following a Wall Street rally overnight. Traders are increasingly betting that the Federal Reserve will skip a planned rate increase scheduled for 14 June, which may have prompted fears that the US markets will be drained of cash. The Fed may decide to pause after US jobless claims hit a high of 1 1/2 years, indicating a weak labour market which will dampen inflation. Investors have been concerned that the US government’s hurried sale of short-term debt to replenish its Treasury General Account may push up yields and consequently reduce interest in riskier assets such as equities.
The Epoch Times: Australia's Official Cash Rate Could Rise to 4.85 Percent: Economists
Australia's Reserve Bank has raised interest rates twelve times since May 2022, causing mortgage stress for borrowers. Some economists warn the ordeal is far from over and the official cash rate could go as high as 4.85 percent, leading Australia towards a mild recession in late 2023 or the second quarter of 2024. The reasons are reduced productivity, which is pushing up labour costs and inflation, as well as the RBA's hawkish stance on inflation, despite recent drops in real disposable income and savings-to-income ratio in the March quarter.
The Labor government has refuted claims that the interest rate hikes were triggered by the recent wave of minimum wage increases. Home Affairs Minister, Clare O'Neil, confirmed the government did not make the decision, but said her government was doing everything they could to provide cost-of-living relief. Finance Minister Katy Gallagher also said the recent rate increase was not triggered by the 2023-2024 federal budget, but rather aimed to prevent the Reserve Bank's job from becoming harder. However, RBA Governor, Philip Lowe, suggested the Fair Work Commission's decision did play a role in the latest interest rate hike during his speech at the Morgan Stanley Australia summit.

National Review: Taylor Swift Is Coming for Your Daughters
Taylor Swift's political activism is revealed as a noxious but effective career strategy in her song "You Need to Calm Down." The media heroizes her, but her songs are specious and dangerous, teaching girls to think only about themselves and fostering misandry. Swift's will-to-power coincided with Hillary Clinton's biggest ambition, and manipulation is a Millennial ploy.

National Review: Reducing Overpayments Is an Easy First Step for Medicare Reform
Congress has struck a deal to raise the debt ceiling, but the long-term fiscal outlook for the US remains grim. Congress needs to look to reducing overpayments in the Medicare program, which greatly influences the rest of the health-care system. Medicare pays higher amounts for the same service when provided in a hospital rather than in a doctor’s office, which is unjustified and results in higher costs for taxpayers and seniors. Implementing site-neutral payments could reduce federal spending and seniors’ premiums and out-of-pocket costs by hundreds of billions of dollars. Policy-makers need to resist pressure from big hospital systems and other provider groups and make hard choices to reform Medicare over the coming years.
American Thinker: Who Should Spend Your Precious Health Care Dollars?
The current healthcare system in America is controlled by third parties such as the government and insurance companies, leaving buyers and sellers as mere pawns. In contrast to other markets where buyers spend their own money, healthcare decisions are made by those who have no connection to the buyer. A true free market in healthcare, where buyers are in control of their own spending, could reduce costs and increase the quality of service.
A true market in healthcare would require the US government to cede control of one-sixth of the economy, which politicians and special interests are unlikely to allow. However, the alternative - a healthcare system controlled by third parties - leaves Americans spending a significant portion of their income on healthcare costs without any control over how their money is spent. By creating an HSAs system and allowing sellers to compete on price and quality, healthcare could become more affordable, efficient, and customer-focused.

Fox News: Nashville manifesto: Christian school shooter's parents seek possession of trans killer's writings
Lawyers for the parents of Nashville school shooter Audrey Hale say they own the killer's manifesto and are going to assign their interest in those writings to the school. Police say Hale left behind a manifesto, artwork and other writings after killing three adults and three elementary students in March. Meanwhile, the National Police Association and a private investigator want the court to order the release of Hale's writings in response to their public records requests. It's not yet known when a decision on the release of the manifesto will be made.
Fox News: Would-be liquor store thief stopped in his tracks by locked door: video

Fox News: Joran van der Sloot case: Prime Natalee Holloway suspect to be arraigned on extortion charges
Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba in 2005, will be arraigned on extortion and wire fraud charges in a federal courtroom in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday. Van der Sloot arrived in Birmingham after being extradited from Peru, where he is currently serving time for the murder of Stephany Flores. American prosecutors say that he tried to sell information regarding the location of Holloway's body to her mother for $250,000, but lied to her lawyer about the real location. Van der Sloot will return to Peru to finish his sentence after the federal case and, if convicted, will be sent to an American prison.

Forbes: Lionel Messi Set For FC Barcelona Return During Inter Miami MLS Offseason
Lionel Messi may return to FC Barcelona on loan from Inter Miami in late 2023 or early 2024. Messi confirmed he will join Inter Miami after being released from his Paris Saint-Germain contract. Despite not having played a competitive game for the Herons yet, there is talk of him returning to Barcelona on a temporary basis, especially during the MLS off-season in the run-up to Argentina defending their Copa America title on American soil in 2024. Inter Miami may loan Messi to Barcelona, which would give him the opportunity to play in important La Liga and Champions League matches. The potential and temporary switch is something that could be practised every winter, and also hand Messi the chance to play at the newly-renovated Spotify Camp Nou in 2024/2025.
Forbes: Manager Mark Kotsay Staying Positive During Athletics’ Horrid Season
Oakland Athletics manager Mark Kotsay struggles to remain positive as the team faces the worst record in the major leagues with a 14-50 score. Kotsay's efforts to uplift his players and focus on the incremental progress haven't paid off so far with a .227 winning percentage.
National Review: PGA’s Shameless Cave to the Saudis
PGA Tour announces merger with Saudi fund behind LIV Golf, despite concerns over Saudi Arabia’s human rights abuses. The move has been criticised as complicit in “sportswashing” and contemptuous towards players who resisted the kingdom’s cash. A battle starting with LIV Golf’s founding in 2021 was abruptly concluded with the deal, which may reshape how the PGA Tour operates. Pundits have described the move as one of the most shocking acts of shamelessness in modern sports history.
Forbes: NBA's New Collective Bargaining Agreement Might Create An Avalanche Of Player Movement
The NBA's new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with harsh penalties for highest-spending teams begins July 1, with predictions that this offseason will bring major moves and franchise-altering transactions. The new CBA introduces a second salary-cap apron set $17.5 million above the luxury-tax line, and it heavily punishes teams crossing that threshold. Teams above the second apron will largely be limited to re-signing their own players and handing out veteran-minimum contracts in free agency beginning in 2024-25, leaving them with far more restrictions than they currently have on the trade market.

American Thinker: Let's talk climate scares and wildfires
Left-wing media outlets are spreading fear over climate change by amplifying the smoke from Canadian wildfires that is travelling to the East, creating air quality warnings. A recent study released by researchers at the Union of Concerned Scientists argues that the planet will warm up to 1.5 degrees Celsius due to CO2 emissions, resulting in an increase in wildfires because the humidity will reduce forest moisture. However, critiques, such as Ed Ring, argue that wildfires are due to poor forestry practices and restrictions on logging. They say, if anything, global warming may actually increase precipitation, making forests less flammable, as well as increasing plant growth.
American Thinker: Fearing 'climate change,' Ireland moves to kill the cows
Ireland plans to cull hundreds of thousands of cows as per European Union climate policy, leading to an increase in beef prices without much environmental benefit. The alternative of soy-based synthetic meat substitutes or insect protein will profit globalist industries that aim to eradicate cows, while cows themselves, when raised on pasture and rotated regularly, offer environmental benefits.
The attacks on cows are based on faulty premises that cow burps damage the environment, ignoring the fossil fuels and chemicals involved in producing grains and feed, and moving them mechanically. Eliminating cows increases food domination and profits for global corporations, but does not benefit the environment much. Instead, farmers should be rewarded for releasing confined animals back onto grass, which would sequester more carbon over time, improve soil health, reduce fertilizer use, and save water.
