The New American: Texas Adds Floating Barriers to Secure Border - The New American
Texas Adds Floating Barriers to Secure Border - The New American
Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a package of six bills on border security into law on Thursday at the state Capitol. The new legislation expands Texas’ efforts to hold the line and protect Texans from illegal immigration, weapons, and deadly drugs pouring in from Mexico caused by President Biden’s refusal to secure the border. The Texas Legislature has allocated $5.1 billion for border security to ensure they can continue to stop illegal immigration at the southern border and provide new tools to protect people.

Abbott also announced the installation of floating barriers to deter illegal crossings in hot spots along the Rio Grande River. The barrier will be deployed near Eagle Pass, which is a busy crossing point for illegal aliens. The Border Patrol’s Del Rio Sector, where Eagle Pass is located, has become one of the deadliest places along the US southern border. Despite some opposition believing it will be dangerous, they will continue with the plan to uphold border security and protect Americans.

Texas Gov. Abbott Signs Bill Designating Cartels as Terrorist Groups
Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations, expanding his executive order from last September. SB 1900 expands the executive order into law and imposes increased legal penalties for those operating cartel stash houses or destroying illegal drug stashes. The bill also directs information about designated foreign terrorist organizations to be included in the state’s existing criminal intelligence databases. The move comes as a response to U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's report that the Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation cartels are likely the primary groups responsible for smuggling fentanyl into the U.S. from Mexico.

Spectator USA: The most amusing parts of the Donald Trump federal indictment
The most amusing parts of the Donald Trump federal indictment
Former President Donald Trump has been indicted by the Department of Justice for improperly taking classified documents from the White House. The unsealed filing lists 37 counts against Trump, including willful retention of national defense information, withholding documents, and conspiracy to obstruct justice. Trump's body man, Waltine Nauta, has also been named as a co-conspirator. The classified documents include information on defense and weapons capabilities, nuclear programs, and intelligence collection methods.

The indictment details several moments of levity, including Trump referring to the classified documents as "his papers," and jokingly considering declassifying them. In one instance, Trump showed a classified map of Country B to a PAC representative and told them not to get too close. Trump is set to appear in a Miami courthouse on Tuesday to face the charges.

Stone notes that the same forces are trying to destroy Trump because he stands in the way of their plan for the New World Order. He also suggests that additional charges may be brought against Trump in other jurisdictions, and draws comparisons to other populace political figures who have been targeted throughout US history. Stone characterizes Trump's situation as "death by a thousand cuts."

The Epoch Times: The CCP Cannot Be Trusted
The CCP Cannot Be Trusted
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) thinks it knows everything and is willing to sacrifice millions to retain power. Mao's Great Leap Forward caused 45 million deaths and the Cultural Revolution resulted in 1.5 million deaths and banishment of 20 million. Laogai/Laojiao reeducation camps held over 50 million people, and still exist today. Xi's "zero-COVID" policy echoes disasters wrought by Mao. We should do the opposite of what the CCP says. Trusting the CCP given its track record is unwise.

The Corner: Again: Aren’t You All Tired of This Crap?
Trump's federal indictment for stealing classified documents shows his total disregard for rules and unfitness for the presidency. After losing the 2020 election, he tried to steal it and interfered in the 2022 primaries. He's not helping conservative goals and puts persuadable people off the message. It's time to move past the drama and focus on politics for change.

Meta and Google are considering cutting off links to Canadian news sites in response to the proposed Online News Act (Bill C-18), which they see as a cash grab from the Trudeau government. The Act is a move to force major social media platforms to pay up for the linkages. The social media platforms are standing up for themselves, making news providers dependent upon internet traffic nervous. The proposed C-18 will do the opposite of what the government is claiming, and will crush innovative, up-and-coming media outlets while subsidizing a small handful of media giants of the government’s choosing.

Why 1994 Matters in 2024
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has released a new book, "March to the Majority," which discusses his success in leading the GOP to reclaim the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives after 40 years. The book not only serves as a history of this achievement, but also provides a playbook for Republicans to follow in improving the future of America. Gingrich emphasizes the importance of connecting with American citizens and creating positive ideas and solutions, as well as using past lessons to improve the future. The book also discusses Gingrich's negotiations with President Bill Clinton and how divided government did not hinder their ability to create positive change.

Fox News: Kevin McCarthy blasts Biden DOJ over Trump indictment: 'A dark day in America'
Kevin McCarthy blasts Biden DOJ over Trump indictment: 'A dark day in America'
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) for indicting former President Donald Trump on counts involving obstruction of justice, conspiracy, and illegal retention of classified government material. McCarthy called for equal justice under the law and noted that President Joe Biden has documents with classified markings as well. He also questioned how Biden, as a senator, could have documents from the Senate, raising concerns about the DOJ's double standard.

The DOJ's indictment of Trump is part of a months-long investigation into his handling of classified records. Attorney General Merrick Garland had appointed Jack Smith, a career prosecutor, to lead the probe. Meanwhile, Trump accused the DOJ of election interference, while Biden's personal lawyers discovered documents with classified markings that led to a DOJ investigation and to Robert Hur's appointment as special counsel. McCarthy suggested actions that could ensure fairness in the cases, including revelations that Chairman Jim Jordan was planning to make.

The Corner: Trump’s Indictment Exposes His Threat to the Republican Brand
The federal indictment against Donald Trump reveals that the classified documents he stored included information about defense and weapons capabilities, potential vulnerabilities to attacks, and plans for possible retaliation. These documents were poorly secured, with legal boxes containing classified materials stacked on the ballroom stage of Trump's Mar-a-Lago club. The Republican Party cannot claim to be a strong, pro-national-defense party while defending someone who mishandles such sensitive information directly related to the security of the United States.

The media hid the fact that the 2022 Canadian trucker convoy won
Canadian truckers staged a massive convoy to protest COVID restrictions in January 2022. Despite a brutal crackdown by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a Twitter user now claims the convoy was successful. The person alleges that the government caved within a week, making it the most successful protest in Canadian and possibly world history. The story is important because it shows that state media can dictate public perception, and in this case, it convinced people that a failed protest was peaceful and well-supported.

Former Top FBI Official ‘Disagreed’ With DOJ’s Approach To Trump Raid, Jim Jordan Says
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland criticizing the Department of Justice's investigation into former President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents. The letter mentions a potential double standard, citing the DOJ's failure to indict Hillary Clinton and President Biden for similar mishandling of classified information, and reveals new details from an interview with former FBI official Steven D’Antuono. D’Antuono expressed concern over the Justice Department's pursuit of the raid and stated that it was unusual for the Washington, D.C. FBI office to handle the matter instead of the Miami office. Jordan asked for more documentation on the issue.

The Babylon Bee: Report: Trump Classified Documents Include Secret Recipe For McRib
Report: Trump Classified Documents Include Secret Recipe For McRib
Former President Donald Trump was indicted by the Department of Justice and allegedly had classified documents, including the secret recipe for the McRib sandwich from McDonald's. The fast food chain played a significant role in the decision to indict Trump, as they did not want their recipe revealed to the public. Trump refused to confirm or deny possession of the recipe and accused McDonald's of playing a role in a political witch hunt. The Biden administration declined to comment.

Trump faces accusations of national security threats over the possession of the McRib recipe and the possibility of revealing it to the public or using it as a bargaining chip in political negotiations. Trump said that if reelected, he would sign an executive order to make the McRib available all year long. Meanwhile, the Biden administration refused to answer questions, citing more important matters than the McRib sandwich.

Foreign Policy: Ukraine’s Big Counteroffensive Gets Underway
Ukraine’s Big Counteroffensive Gets Underway
Ukraine has begun a spring offensive to reconquer Russian-occupied territory, using probing attacks to fix Russian forces in place before committing to larger battles. However, Russia has strong fortified lines and few trained troops, making it difficult for Ukraine to take back territory. Russia's defenses extend beyond the front lines, using shovels, wire, steel, and concrete to construct multi-echelon defenses, but Russia does not cooperate well across boundaries, leaving them vulnerable. The United States, which increased Ukraine's military budget sixfold in a year, is tapped out on money and guns, but is set to provide Ukraine with more air defense and artillery rounds under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

Air Force Infuriates Americans with the Flag a Service Member Is Saluting - Hint: It's Not Old Glory
The US Air Force is under fire for saluting the LGBT “progress” flag in a tweet celebrating Pride Month. The image shows a U.S. Air Force logo along with the rainbow stripes of the gay flag, pink, white and baby blue stripes representing transgenders, and brown-and-black stripes representing gays of color. Many Twitter users criticized the Air Force for straying from its mission of keeping America safe. Conservative commentator Benny Johnson said, “It’s illegal for a uniformed service member to salute anything but the American flag” and “This cult is actively disgracing our military and replacing the American flag like we are a conquered people.” This is all pretty shocking stuff from law enforcement and military forces and it’s par for the course in Joe Biden’s America.

Washington Free Beacon: Why the Biden Administration's Nicotine Ban Could Be a Boon for Drug Cartels
Why the Biden Administration's Nicotine Ban Could Be a Boon for Drug Cartels
The Biden administration plans to limit the amount of nicotine in cigarettes, which could lead to an increase in illegal tobacco sales and boost Mexican drug cartels. This rule, expected to be finalized in August, could force the tobacco industry underground, opening up opportunities for criminal syndicates. The illicit tobacco market has been linked to terrorist organizations, and smuggled cigarettes help launder money for organized crime. Republicans have pledged to block the rule, which would require domestic cigarettes to contain a "negligible" amount of nicotine. The potential for revenue streams for cartels is the latest example of how cigarette regulations can have unintended consequences.

Blacktop Patching, Sealing, and Tidbits
Asphalt paving is the favored surface for public streets, parking lots and driveways. The mix of liquid asphalt cement, sand, and small stone chips or asphaltic concrete makes it a durable road surface. The tar-and-chip method of paving can give color to your driveway by introducing colored chips. The soil under the asphalt must be strong and the gravel base must be at least 6 inches thick. Patches can be made using hot mix asphalt making the patch last for decades, if done correctly. The best way to patch potholes is to use a contractor who has a special heater that warms the existing blacktop to bond mechanically and chemically with the old asphalt. The asphalt needs to cure a minimum of 90 to 120 days before it can be sealed and a shoulder of at least one foot wider than the final blacktop is advised for lateral support.
