Red State: Chris Christie Flails Wildly in Attempted Hits on DeSantis and Trump
Chris Christie Flails Wildly in Attempted Hits on DeSantis and Trump
Chris Christie announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential race, with his usual "I'm the only one who can get anything done" routine. During his announcement speech, he attacked Ron DeSantis, claiming that he didn't compromise enough. However, this attack is unfounded because we need someone who sticks to their principles and fights for what's right, not someone who compromises. Christie also went on CNN to take a shot at Donald Trump, claiming he was a puppet of Putin. This kind of attack is lazy and dumb, and won't play well in a Republican primary.

Fox News: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton hires prominent lawyer for impeachment trial
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton hires prominent lawyer for impeachment trial
A new lawyer hired by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has criticized the impeachment trial against Paxton, which is set to begin no later than August 28. Tony Buzbee, a high-profile attorney whose prominent clients have included former Texas Governor Rick Perry, called the allegations against Paxton "untrue" and accused the impeachment process of being rushed and secretive. Paxton has been under investigation by the FBI for years over accusations of using his office to benefit a donor and was separately indicted on securities fraud charges in 2015. Buzbee suggested the trial might need to be postponed until next summer in order to take testimony from over 60 witnesses and review thousands of documents.

The case for Ken Paxton's removal from office will be presented by high-profile Texas attorneys Dick DeGuerin and Rusty Hardin, while Paxton's legal team includes criminal defense attorney Dan Cogdell. Several members of Paxton's staff will also appear as witnesses. Buzbee, however, claims the allegations against Paxton are "baloney" and criticized the trial's timeframe, suggesting it would take significantly longer than the August 28 deadline. Paxton was suspended from office following his impeachment on 20 articles, including abuse of public trust and bribery. Buzbee declined to reveal who was paying for his services, stating he was "not being paid by the public."

Fox News: Newsom proposes constitutional amendment to restrict gun rights
Newsom proposes constitutional amendment to restrict gun rights
California Gov. Gavin Newsom proposed a 28th Amendment to the Constitution that would implement “common sense” gun safety measures, including raising the federal minimum age to purchase a firearm and banning "assault weapons," but would not abolish the Second Amendment. Newsom is calling for an Article V Convention of states to draft his proposed amendment, as there is virtually no chance a constitutional amendment restricting gun rights will have enough support to pass through Congress.

Fox News: NYC Mayor Eric Adams sues 30 New York counties for refusing to house migrants
NYC Mayor Eric Adams sues 30 New York counties for refusing to house migrants
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is suing 30 counties over local executive orders preventing the city from housing migrants in their towns. Adams announced a lawsuit that calls actions by these counties an "unlawful attempt" to prevent New York City from responding to a statewide emergency and humanitarian crisis. New York City has been overwhelmed by tens of thousands of migrants pouring into the five boroughs in the past year.

Adams declared a state of emergency on May 5 and proposed a program to transport migrants to other parts of New York state. However, his policy puts the city in conflict with several New York counties that do not want to house the migrants, with claims of public safety issues. A federal judge halted two counties' orders designed to block New York City from sending migrants to hotels in their jurisdictions, finding convincing arguments that migrants were being discriminated against on the basis of national origin and race, violating the equal protection clause under the Fourteenth Amendment.

Connecticut father 'infuriated' with school officials over Pride video: 'Straw that broke the camel's back'
Connecticut parents are outraged after an elementary school showed kids an LGBTQ+ video without their consent. The Granby School District showed "Pride to Me" to students aged 8 to 10 that contained interviews with kids identifying with "they/them" pronouns, "two mommies" and "both" genders. Father of four Kyle Reyes pulled his kids out of the district after the incident, citing concerns surrounding far-left indoctrination in the classroom through the video. Wells Road Intermediate School Principal Pauline Greer emphasised the video was not meant to "alienate" students but Reyes demanded an apology from the school.

James Woods Gives Eyebrow-Raising Answer After Asked About the True Extent of Evil in Hollywood
James Woods hinted at the evil of Hollywood in a tweet this week which he later deleted, while former child actors Corey Feldman and Ricky Schroder have spoken out about the industry’s dark side. In January, actor Jonathan Roumie, star of “The Chosen”, spoke at the March for Life in Washington, D.C. about the increasing darkness and demonic tone present in TV, film and music, saying that many feature psychologically damaging content. Roumie added that the removal of God from popular culture, which has been accompanied by corruptive images and ideologies, could be countered by embracing Christ’s message of love.

Australia Moves to Implement National Ban on Nazi Symbols
The Australian government is set to introduce a national ban on Nazi insignia in an effort to discourage far-right groups. Under the Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment (Prohibited Hate Symbols and Other Measures) Bill, it will be illegal to display or sell Nazi-related symbols, including flags, armbands and t-shirts, with fines of up to $16,500 (US $11,000) or imprisonment for up to one year. However, the ban excludes the Nazi Swastika for "religious, academic, educational, artistic, literary, journalistic or scientific purpose". The legislation will complement existing state and territory laws.

Fox News: Portland bans daytime homeless camping
Portland bans daytime homeless camping
Portland's city council voted to ban public homeless camping during daytime hours and near certain public areas like schools and parks, while allowing camping in nonrestricted areas from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. The law codifies a 2018 federal court ruling that bars local governments from arresting people for sleeping outside when not enough shelter is available, but does allow "objectively reasonable" limits on where, when and how campsites can be set up. Business and property owners backed the ordinance, while advocates for homeless people said it will further burden them. The ordinance will be implemented in phases with enforcement that could begin in late July.

Human Events: BARRINTON MARTIN II: The concept of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ breeds inequality
BARRINTON MARTIN II: The concept of ‘diversity, equity, and
inclusion’ breeds inequality
Disparities among people will always exist, and the quest for "equality" is a romanticized and empty idea. The Civil Rights movement's pursuit of equality has solidified the position of black Americans as a permanent subordinate class and created an unhealthy fixation with "equality." Dr. King's disappointment with the outcomes of the Civil Rights movement shifted his rhetoric from social equality to economic equality and democratic socialism. However, in a capitalist nation where competition is king, the focus should be on equal opportunities and fortifying the future through competitive efforts, rather than seeking to be equal or on par with whites. The racial discourse in America should shift to examining and understanding disparities without a racial lens and considering cultural behaviors and patterns rather than solely blaming historical racism.

Britain announces new sanctions against Belarus for aiding Russian aggression
UK announces new sanctions against Belarus for facilitating Russia's invasion of Ukraine, including import bans and measures to prevent internet propaganda. The sanctions aim to increase economic pressure on President Aliaksandr Lukashenka's regime, which is actively supporting the Russian war effort in Ukraine and ignoring Ukraine's territorial integrity. The sanctions package includes import bans on gold, cement, wood, and rubber from Belarus and blocking exports of banknotes, machinery, technologies, and materials that could be used to produce chemical and biological weapons.

The Epoch Times: American Consumer Credit Growth Last Month Rose to Its Fastest Pace Since November
American Consumer Credit Growth Last Month Rose to Its Fastest Pace Since November
U.S. consumer credit growth accelerated in April, rising by $23.07bn, the most since November 2022, according to recent Federal Reserve data. Economists expected a $21.6bn gain. However, the figure does not include mortgage lending, the largest category of household debt. Some analysts are concerned that households and consumers with lower credit scores risk paying more for credit. Revolving credit remained steady in April, gaining 13.2%, below the 14.6% reported for March. However, economists fear consumer spending growth slowing as interest rates rise.
