Washington Free Beacon: Minnesota Democrats Approve Free College For Illegal Immigrants as They Hike Taxes on Residents
The Democrat-controlled Minnesota legislature is raising taxes on state residents to fund programs for illegal immigrants. The tax hikes will pay for free state college tuition, health care, and driver's licenses for illegal immigrants, while residents are seeing increases in taxes on gas, retail deliveries, and cars. Republicans criticized the tax hikes, pointing out the state had a $17.5 billion budget surplus and had received lucrative federal COVID relief funds. Many taxpayers were unhappy with the move and argued the government should only take what it needs.

Red State: Gov. Gavin Newsom Proposes Radical '28th Amendment' to Strip Americans' Gun Rights
California Gov. Gavin Newsom proposes a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to severely restrict gun rights nationwide. The amendment includes measures such as implementing universal background checks, raising the minimum age to purchase firearms, imposing waiting periods, and banning "assault weapons." However, the proposed amendment faces serious problems, including eroding constitutional liberties, restrictions proving ineffective in preventing criminals from obtaining firearms, and unlikelihood of passing through Congress, making Newsom's idea about as realistic as "Nancy Pelosi remaining sober for more than five minutes."

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed unclassified details from the FBI's "Biden bribery form," which allegedly shows financial records of two payments of $5 million - one to Joe Biden and the other to his son, Hunter Biden, to "fix" a situation regarding a Ukrainian prosecutor. The FBI had previously refused to turn over the document, citing concerns about informant confidentiality. Democrat lawmakers have said that the FBI did not have enough information to escalate its investigation into Biden based on the whistleblower's account.

The Imaginative Conservative: Individual & Community in "The Scarlet Letter"
Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter explores the tension between the individual and the community in colonial New England, where the Puritans sought to reform and strengthen the Christian community through their challenge based on private interpretation of scripture. The story of Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, and Roger Chillingworth embodies the paradox of individualism and hierarchy in a community. Hawthorne's "The Custom House" serves as an ironic introduction to the story and illustrates the paradox of independence and community, where withdrawal into bureaucratic officialdom isolates a man and emasculates his imagination. The narrative of The Scarlet Letter treats Hester Prynne ironically but not derisively and explores the tragic tension between protagonist Arthur Dimmesdale's claims of subjective personal longings and antagonist Roger Chillingworth's claims of legalism to possess Hester's love.

Forbes: President Zelensky: The Destruction Of Hydroelectric Dam Is ‘Ecocide’
Russia and Ukraine are accusing each other of shelling the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant in the city of Kherson, which caused the destruction of a Russian-held dam. This disaster has led to floods, contaminated groundwater with industrial lubricants, and the flooding of nearby farmland which destroyed people's livelihoods. The evacuation of thousands of people is also occurring while Russian troops are shelling evacuation routes. This is considered an act of ecocide and a deliberate attack on Ukraine's environment, and President Zelensky accused Putin of personally giving the order for the attack.
Breitbart: ‘Where's the Money?’: Biden Jokes When Asked About Taking Alleged Bribe
Joe Biden denied House GOP allegations that he accepted a $5 million bribe from a Ukrainian energy company while he was vice president. He called the accusations “malarkey” during a press conference, and asked “Where is the money?” House Republicans have claimed that an FBI informant has two pieces of evidence showing that Biden accepted the bribe to fire the prosecutor probing Burisma Holdings, the energy company that was under suspicion of corruption. The hashtag applies.
Euromaidan Press: Russo-Ukrainian War. Day 470: Disaster in the Kherson Oblast
Russian and Ukrainian forces continue to engage in skirmishes, with Russia accused of using terror tactics and targeting civilian areas in Ukraine. The Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam was destroyed, causing casualties and infrastructure damage, and leading to potential environmental and humanitarian catastrophes. Ukrainian Air Force has launched multiple air strikes and battle engagements in response.

Foreign Policy: Is China Gaining a Lead in the Tech Arms Race?
China has the edge on AUKUS in 19 out of 23 fields central to hypersonic weapons, quantum tech, and cyber security, according to a report from Canberra-based think tank the Australian Strategic Policy Institute. Public research output is but one way to assess innovation capacity; investment and leadership is also crucial, says Emily Weinstein, a research fellow at Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology. One main battleground power rests in artificial intelligence (AI), where mass US and allied funding could see them overtake China.
Beijing plans to station a covert electronic eavesdropping base in Cuba targeting US military installations. This comes after a new Cold War is potentially brewing, with Washington deepening efforts to ease tensions between the US and China. Yan Dobronosov/Global Images via Getty Images, meanwhile, captured local residents evacuating a flooding area in Russian-controlled Ukraine after a dam exploded, which Ukraine blamed on Russia. There have been repeated failed efforts by the US and Saudi Arabia to broker a chance of fighting between opposing forces in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum; the conflict is at risk of devolving into all-out civil war.

China's Communist Party reportedly had full access to data of TikTok users in Hong Kong through a "backdoor channel" and a "god credential" account, as alleged in a wrongful-dismissal lawsuit by Yintao Yu, a former executive for TikTok's parent company. The Communist Party was accused of wanting to unveil the identity and location of pro-freedom protestors. ByteDance, TikTok's controversy-embroiled parent company, denies the allegations. The lawsuit also accuses TikTok of illegally "stealing content" from other apps and of using fake accounts to increase engagement. Conservatives are demanding that Big Tech be held accountable.
Fox News: US suspends food aid to Ethiopia after investigation reveals 'widespread' supply theft
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has suspended all food aid to Ethiopia, Africa's second most populous country, after an internal investigation found that the donated food meant for millions of malnourished people was being diverted on a "widespread" scale. Ethiopia's federal government is said to be involved in the diversion of food aid, with military units throughout the country benefiting from the humanitarian assistance. The UN World Food Program and USAID suspended aid to Ethiopia's northern Tigray region last month while investigating allegations of food aid theft. USAID is the biggest single donor in Ethiopia, providing $1.8 billion in aid.
The suspension of aid is due to the "widespread and coordinated" theft and diversion of supplies intended for Ethiopia's malnourished residents discovered during an internal investigation by USAID. The USAID's statement did not reveal who was responsible for the theft, but humanity donors' memo suggests Ethiopia's federal government as involved. Child malnutrition cases have risen alarmingly since aid delivery was suspended. The U.S. is still providing other assistance to Ethiopia despite the suspension of delivery of food aid. Ethiopia's foreign affairs ministry has referred to the revelations as "deeply concerning" and has committed to investigations with the U.S. so that the perpetrators of such diversion are held to account.

Forbes: Author Post: Back To The Office – What’s Really Driving It?
The back-to-the-office trend is driven by leaders' unwillingness to invest in remote work policies and practices. Employers are more focused on costs than employee satisfaction, leading to a lack of trust in remote workers and increased "productivity paranoia." Poor implementation and lack of commitment to remote policies and standards result in inconsistencies and lower productivity. To foster a strong remote culture, executives must invest in systemized policies and procedures and regularly reinforce company values and the overarching mission. Remote work is a privilege that requires commitment and should be viewed as a potential model for the future. ( )
