DeSantis Announces At U.S. Border New Initiative To Combat Illegal Immigration, Hammers Newsom
Governor Ron DeSantis is creating a coalition of states to combat Joe Biden's immigration crisis. DeSantis fired back at Governor Gavin Newsom's repeated attacks, alleging that California's open border policies are responsible for the illegal immigration crisis. DeSantis also indicated that Florida's Highway Patrol and National Guard Counterdrug Task Force have a training program to help train officers from around the nation. Anyone who wants to train with Florida can come and learn the model which DeSantis says has had tremendous success.

Spectator USA: Republicans urge DoJ probe of TikTok CEO for ‘lying’ to Congress
Republicans urge DoJ probe of TikTok CEO for ‘lying’ to Congress
Thirteen House Republicans, led by Representative Tim Walberg, are calling for the Department of Justice to investigate TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew for lying to Congress regarding critical facts about the company's operations, including its alleged storage of American data in China. A recent Forbes report suggests that highly sensitive financial and personal information about users and third parties has been stored in China, contradicting Chew's testimony to Congress. This latest demand for accountability is part of ongoing congressional scrutiny of TikTok and its ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

The Republican lawmakers want Chew to be held accountable for his false statements, with Representative Walberg calling it a national security and privacy issue, and accused TikTok of establishing a pattern of dishonesty and willingness to cover up for the CCP. They assert that TikTok has repeatedly lied to Congress, including previous claims made by Michael Beckerman, the head of public policy, that were later contradicted by a June 2022 report. While both Republicans and Democrats on the Energy and Commerce Committee have pressed for answers about potential national security threats posed by TikTok, some Democrats have recently aligned themselves with the app.

J.D. Vance Knocks DeSantis Campaign: 'Unacceptable' to Smear Trump with Fake AI Images
Ohio Senator J.D. Vance slams DeSantis campaign for sharing a video criticizing Donald Trump's handling of Dr. Anthony Fauci with potentially AI-generated images of Trump hugging Fauci; Vance says the use of fake AI images is unacceptable and warns people to be skeptical of what they see online. The images in question appear in a video shared by the DeSantis War Room on Twitter, showing Trump hugging Fauci in ways that are not real but potentially AI-generated, as pointed out by media forensics experts. The DeSantis team faced criticism, with Tim Pool calling for disavowal from DeSantis.

Daily Wire: Newsom Proposes Gun Control Constitutional Amendment
Newsom Proposes Gun Control Constitutional Amendment
California Governor Gavin Newsom proposed a constitutional amendment to restrict gun ownership in the U.S. while leaving the Second Amendment unchanged. Newsom's proposed amendment would initiate “…commonsense gun safety measures that Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and gun owners overwhelmingly support…” It would ban assault weapons, implement universal background checks for gun purchases, raise the federal minimum age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21, and impose a mandatory “reasonable” waiting period for all gun purchases. The amendment would also allow Congress, states, and local governments to impose further gun regulations on top of the amendment's restrictions.

House Passes Feds' Budget Bill Following Lengthy Tory Filibuster
The Canadian House of Commons has passed the Budget Implementation Act, despite a weeks-long filibuster by the Conservatives. The bill will now go to the Senate. The omnibus budget, which the Conservatives oppose on the basis of "inflationary deficits", includes a new federal dental care plan and a grocery rebate benefiting low-income Canadians, but it has been a contentious issue between the two parties.

Anti-reform Protesters 'desecrate' Bridge Named After Netanyahu's Father
Protesters against the Israeli government's judicial reform plan hung signs on an interchange named after Benjamin Netanyahu’s father, Benzion Netanyahu, that read, “Father of the Dictator.” The group responsible, Kumi Israel, tweeted “Wake up now and shelve the coup d’état, and immediately stop the attacks on the Supreme Court and the gatekeepers, because you won’t succeed in lying to history.” Over 200,000 people protested in front of the Knesset, Jerusalem, in support of the legal overhaul. The Heritage Minister condemned the act, calling it "anarchism under the guise of ‘democracy.'"

WH Chief of Staff Quietly Calling Cabinet Members with Request Aimed at Helping Biden's Campaign: Report
White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients has reportedly asked members of President Joe Biden's cabinet to resign quickly if they plan to do so, in order to avoid contentious confirmation battles before the 2024 election. Zients wants to ensure that successor confirmations are locked in before the election heats up, with Democrats holding a slim Senate majority. The request is being made with political considerations in mind, as the White House hopes to avoid partisan clashes over cabinet posts and distance Biden from partisan politics during the campaign.

Superman star Dean Cain joins Mark Wahlberg and thousands of others in ditching California, citing its ruination by 'terrible' Democratic policies
Actor and gun-rights activist Dean Cain has listed his $6.25m Malibu home for sale and moved himself and his family to Las Vegas, citing California's high cost of living, high taxes, and policies around crime and homelessness. Joining him are hundreds-of-thousands of other Californians who have moved elsewhere in the country since 2020, driving a population shrinkage of over 90,000 in Los Angeles alone. Although higher-income and more educated people tend to move into the state, lower- and middle-income people tend to move out, suggesting the state's affordability challenges are a key reason for the exodus.

Federal Liberals Want to Make Hybrid Work Permanent for Members of Parliament
Virtual participation in the Canadian House of Commons may become a permanent option for MPs. The hybrid system currently in place during the pandemic would allow members to attend Parliament virtually while dealing with personal matters or attending events in their ridings. If the motion is passed, it may encourage more people, such as young parents, to run for public office. The government is currently working to address issues related to virtual interpretation.

Amended Bill That Would Extend Citizenship Rights to Some Born Abroad Heads to House
Canadian MPs approved changes to the Citizenship Act, granting citizenship rights to some individuals born abroad. The changes proposed by the NDP grants citizenship to a child if their Canadian parents can prove they spent at least three years in Canada. The new rule was supported by the Liberals and attached to a Conservative senator’s private member’s bill. Conservatives, however, opposed the new amendments and called them a “vandalism” of the original spirit of the bill. The revised legislation will need to be voted on again in the House before going to the Senate.

La. Sends Amendment Proposal Banning 'Zuckbucks' To Voters
Louisiana lawmakers seek to ban the use of private money in elections. HB 311 proposes banning donations from foreign governments and nongovernmental sources unless authorized by election code and restricted by general law. If the ban is approved by voters in October, Louisiana will become the 26th state to outlaw election funding with private monies. Critiques argues it is necessary to deter attempts by left-wing organizations and private entities to influence elections by giving grants to election offices, which may be a Democratic Party strategy to pave a way for Democrat-backed voting policies.

The Epoch Times: More Than 2,000 Chinese Bloggers Interrogated Over 2 Months
More Than 2,000 Chinese Bloggers Interrogated Over 2 Months
China's recent cyberspace clean-up operation targeted bloggers and social media accounts, resulting in the arrest of 2,089 bloggers, closing 66,600 social media accounts, and deleting 1.41 million posts. The hardening of cyber laws has also led to increasing censorship. The campaign reflects the government's desperation and extreme fear of public opinion. The CCP's ultimate target is to cover all of Chinese society and its goal is to censor all free speech. Experts say the censorship is a "Cultural Revolution version 2.0" that restricts self-expression in China and even laughter is censored.

Stand-up comedian Li Haoshi's arrest is an example of how the tentacles of censorship are now reaching into China's entertainment world. The arrest of Li has led to a $2m fine for his company and a complete shutdown of offices in Beijing and Shanghai. The arrest has frozen China's comedians and sent a chill through the country's live music scene, which had just started to make a comeback after COVID-19 lockdowns. Experts say China's stepped-up cyberspace control is its way of suppressing and "escalating societal discontent."

The culture war has resulted in changed laws and a loss of moral ground, leading to the normalization of abnormal behaviors and the loss of the ability to object. Those who remained silent or tolerant for decades are now experiencing the consequences of their apathy and are being forced to comply with the changing culture and laws. This has resulted in corporations and even "conservative" companies surrendering to the woke nation's speech and thought police, with Fox News previewing the next stage of surrender. People are now getting what they deserve, and the nation is filled with fools who are surprised by the arrival of the whole armada of moral surrender and compromise.

The Epoch Times: Decoupling From China’s Aircraft Industry
Decoupling From China’s Aircraft Industry
Decoupling with China is being discussed as a means of sanctioning it for its bad behavior, which includes not allowing it to hold a global supply chain. While some areas require more thought and investment such as computer manufacturing, there are areas, such as microchips and the aircraft industry, where decoupling could be pursued quickly with minimal risk to the West. Removing China from Western semiconductors, as well as fourth industrial revolution technologies like AI and advanced computing, could put Beijing in trouble in terms of being able to "dominate the digital revolution." As for China's commercial aircraft business, cutting it off could deal a blow to their civil airliner business, which is heavily dependent on Western companies.

The Chinese navy intercepted a U.S. Navy ship in the Taiwan Strait, dangerously forcing it to change course. The move is a deliberate provocation by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to seize Taiwan and test the U.S. defense of freedom of navigation. Military expert Carl Schuster believes the operation was ordered by the CCP’s Central Military Commission and shows the CCP’s political ambition to claim the waters around Taiwan as Chinese waters. The incident is part of a larger pattern of CCP aggression and tests on the bottom line of U.S. political leaders.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre filibustered the Liberal government’s Bill C-47, calling for a plan to balance the budget, axe their proposed carbon tax, and lower interest rates. The pet products retailer also expanded its gross margin by 90 basis points, thanks to lower promotional activity and strength in average order size.

The Epoch Times: Software VP Fired for Using 'Assigned by God' as Preferred Pronoun Sues Employer
Software VP Fired for Using 'Assigned by God' as Preferred Pronoun Sues Employer
Software engineer, Chard Scharf, has filed a lawsuit against the software company Bitwarden for religious discrimination after being fired due to his refusal to choose a preferred pronoun that conflicted with his Catholic beliefs. Scharf alleges that Bitwarden violated his Title VII rights against religious discrimination by prohibiting him from using his preferred pronoun while allowing others to post theirs. Furthermore, Scharf says he was discriminated against when executives pressured him to add preferred pronouns to his Slack employee profile, which he refused to do. According to The Epoch Times, the company has not filed a response to the federal complaint.

Scharf also reportedly filed a discrimination complaint against Bitwarden with The Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR) and lost. His attorney, Jennifer Vasquez, is handling an appeal of the decision. She believes that companies like Bitwarden are more preoccupied with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) scores than worker rights, leading to an increasing drive to use transgender pronouns in the workplace and religious persecution against Christians. Meanwhile, Title VII lawsuits are concluding in major court victories.

It’s Time to Bust the ‘Calories In, Calories Out’ Weight-Loss Myth
The "calories in, calories out" weight loss formula oversimplifies the complex process of calculating energy intake and expenditure, as our metabolic rate varies from person to person and even changes when our diets change. The formula also fails to consider the mechanisms our bodies trigger to counteract a reduction in energy intake, leading to weight regain. Calorie counting can do more harm than good, making it even harder to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Long-term weight loss requires following evidence-based programs and making gradual changes to lifestyle.

Newsom proposed four regulations: increasing the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21, mandating universal background checks, enforcing a waiting period for gun purchases and prohibiting the civilian purchase of assault weapons. The National Rifle Association denounced the proposal as it failed to take into account people who use semi-automatic rifles in a safe manner - despite such weapons being classed as "assault weapons". The proposal is not popular and unlikely to become law as it would require support from approximately two-thirds of states.
