The Epoch Times: Happy Dad's Day
Father's Day is coming up and it's a great time to give your dad something to look forward to, like a travel or adventure experience. Consider getting him a golf or cooking lesson, or a new book about his interests. For the outdoorsy dad, check out camping gear, bikes, or fishing trips. For the music-loving dad, try a karaoke set. And for the dad who needs to relax, gift cards for books or movies are always a safe bet.
Fox News: HIV/AIDS treatment centers seeing decrease in patients after anti-gay legislation went into effect in Uganda
The HIV/AIDS treatment center in Kampala sees a sharp decline in patients after Uganda passed a draconian anti-gay law last week. The daily influx of around 50 patients has almost dried up, even though new waves of HIV infections are forming since vulnerable people are afraid of being identified and arrested. The law penalizes gay sex with life in prison and the transmission of HIV-related cases with death. Fear has been deterring people from seeking treatment since the anti-gay bill was introduced in March.

Breitbart: Sunak Not Going to Even Discuss U.S.-UK Trade Deal with Biden
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will not discuss a possible UK-U.S. trade deal with Joe Biden during his visit to the White House. Straining relations between the two countries have made UK officials increasingly pessimistic about the prospects of a trade deal. Lobbyists are reportedly interested in a more focused deal on rare earth materials. Biden's interest in Ireland has caused tension with the UK, especially over the contested Northern Ireland region. Biden has sided with the EU in economic disputes over the region, and Sunak confirmed that a UK-U.S. trade deal is no longer a priority.

Flag And Cross: Larry Summers Urges Tax Hike On Top 1% As He Sees Economy Languishing In 'New And Dangerous Territory'
Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers expressed concerns about the U.S. economy surpassing a 10% deficit-to-GDP ratio, calling the situation "new and dangerous territory." Summers believes the Congressional Budget Office projections are too optimistic and expects the deficit to exceed 10% of GDP, which he states is the worst long-run fiscal outlook in American history. Summers favors the path to higher income and believes raising revenue needs to start with those most able to pay, such as the top 1%. He supports President Biden’s 25% billionaires tax.
Summers expects short-term Treasury yields to run well over CBO’s 2.3% deficit to GDP assumption over the next decade, greatly increasing deficit levels. Adjustments will likely need to be made since a 10% deficit-to-GDP ratio is unacceptable. Summers favors the path to higher income and raising revenue through taxation, starting with those most able to pay. He notes that prices of services the government buys like health, education, and law enforcement tend to rise, and returning government spending to traditional levels will not be easy.

The Epoch Times: Quebec Minister's Cancelling of 'Anti-Abortion' Event Is Discriminatory: Christian Group
A Christian organization called Harvest Ministries International is threatening legal action against Quebec’s tourism minister for cancelling their event, which they say is a religious, cultural and artistic event, but was labelled “anti-abortion” by the minister. Harvest Ministries denies the event has an anti-abortion theme. The organization is demanding the minister reinstates the contract by June 8 or face legal action. The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) is supporting the organization’s legal representation. The Quebec City Convention Centre and Minister Caroline Proulx did not respond to requests for comment. The convention centre cancelled the event as it contravened Quebec’s stance on abortion and the government’s values in general. JCCF says there were no anti-abortion themes in the event scheduled for June/July this year.

PJ Media: California Takes a Big Step Towards Legalizing Shoplifting
California Senate Bill 553, aimed at curbing workplace violence, has some retailers concerned that it will increase shoplifting by preventing employees from approaching shoplifters. Critics argue that the bill is more virtue signaling than actual protection, as it essentially turns a blind eye to shoplifting. Meanwhile, San Francisco's downtown retail sector is struggling due to rampant shoplifting and other "lifestyle crimes," causing high-end retailers to flee the area and leaving convenience stores to adopt a Soviet-style retail model.
