Forbes: The HIMARS Deployment And U.S. Force Posture In Syria
The US has deployed its HIMARS system in Syria for the first time, capable of firing six guided missiles in quick succession and then moving position to avoid retaliation. Although fighting ISIS is the US's main mission in Syria, its troops are also targeted by Iran-backed militias that have used rockets and explosive drones against them. Experts believe the deployment is aimed at deterring these groups from further attacks and showing Russia and the Syrian government that the US isn't drawing down its forces. The HIMARS system has a longer range than previous weapons deployed in Syria, allowing the US to threaten Iranian or Syrian positions at a greater distance in the case of rocket attacks.

The Epoch Times: IN-DEPTH: Bribery Case Targeting Falun Gong Reveals CCP’s ‘Covert Warfare’ in US
Chinese national Chen Jun, a U.S. citizen, has been arrested over an alleged bribery scheme in support of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) transnational repression campaign targeting the Falun Gong spiritual group. An active supporter of Beijing in the United States, the former trade delegate for Tianjin is accused of working with Chinese officials to help sabotage an unnamed U.S. nonprofit run by Falun Gong adherents by seeking its tax-exempt status revoked. He offered $50,000 to an undercover FBI agent he thought worked for the IRS to advance a fraudulent IRS whistleblower complaint against the group and collect evidence for "whistle-blower protection." Chen is accused of working for an unnamed Chinese official to help bring down the faith group.
Commentators have described the case as part of China's "covert warfare" against foreign governments, where allied Chinese nationals work covertly on behalf of the regime to help bring down perceived enemies. Chen has been linked to around 20 annual pro-Beijing flag-raising events organized in California. Falun Gong, a popular meditative group, continues to be persecuted and harassed with arbitrary arrests, forced organ harvesting, and torture on mainland China. The CCP has reportedly been targeting the group outside of China through coercion and spying, all part of an international campaign of transnational repression. In recent weeks, the U.S. Justice Department has charged dozens of Chinese agents, including Chen, found operating in the United States.
The Epoch Times: UK Government to Publish Plans for Removing Chinese Surveillance Cameras
The UK government will publish a timeline for removing Chinese surveillance equipment from sensitive sites. New measures will allow ministers to ban risky suppliers from competing for sensitive sector contracts, and a unit will assess suppliers that pose national security risks. The use of Chinese surveillance cameras has faced increased scrutiny due to security vulnerabilities, concerns about sensitive data being given to China's Communist regime, and both companies being known to supply surveillance equipment used to target Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. The government has also established a National Security Unit for Procurement, which will investigate suppliers that pose a risk to national security and assess whether companies should be barred from public procurements.

In order to return to in-store sales after the pandemic, Inditex has been investing in physical stores, opening up 17 new locations and updating the design concept of stores that included digitised self-checkout, fitting rooms, and click-and-collect areas.
The Epoch Times: Dollar Eases as Chances for a US Rate Rise Ebb
The dollar dipped and the Canadian dollar hit one-month highs as chances for a rate hike by the Federal Reserve faded, while the Australian dollar reached three-week highs after the Reserve Bank of Australia raised the benchmark cash rate. The US dollar is likely to boast a natural edge over other currencies for now, due to the Fed being more likely to leave rates unchanged than cut them. Meanwhile, traders were attaching a higher chance that the BoC would raise Canadian interest rates again, with the US dollar trading around one-month lows against the Canadian dollar. The yen, euro and pound all rose against the dollar, which has gained almost 3% in the last month.
The Epoch Times: Why Banks Are Fighting ESG Regulations in the States
State treasurers and attorneys general are pushing back against corporations’ commitments to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing, which are preventing investment in natural resources like oil, gas, and coal. At least 11 states have passed legislation combatting investment tools that prioritize leftist objectives, leading banks to panic as ESG metrics have historically increased the ownership of bank shares due to their supposedly low carbon emissions. State banking associations and banks themselves are lobbying state legislators to protect ESG investing, despite state legislation seeking to protect core industries and pensions for public employees. BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, recently hired lobbyists in half of the US states, spending millions on public relations campaigns and softening public statements.

Fox News: CEO Chris Licht out at CNN: report
CNN CEO Chris Licht is stepping down after just over a year in the job, with the news following rumours of his departure that had been swirling for months. Licht was appointed by Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav in 2020 when Jeff Zucker left ahead of the long-planned CNN merger. However, Licht struggled to turn the news network around, and despite his efforts to “tamp down spectacle” at the network, which involved toning down its breaking news graphics and ejecting some left-leaning figures, he did not win over liberal staffers at the network. As yet, it is unclear what direction the news network will take following his departure.
