Officials Confirm Migrants Flown to California Went Voluntarily, After California Accuses Florida of Kidnapping
Florida officials clarify that migrants flown to California signed consent forms, addressing accusations of kidnapping by Governor Gavin Newsom. The California Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation, but Florida released a video showing the migrants celebrating and saying they were treated well. Last year, Florida also sent migrants to Martha's Vineyard, a sanctuary state, accusing them of incentivizing illegal immigration.

Newsbusters: Scarborough: DeSantis 'Depraved' for Dumping Migrants In Freezing Weather--Except He Didn't
Scarborough: DeSantis 'Depraved' for Dumping Migrants In Freezing Weather--Except He Didn't
California Governor Gavin Newsom accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis of "kidnapping" migrants and transporting them to California in a Today show interview. Joe Scarborough repeated the accusation on Morning Joe, but in fact, it was Texas Governor Greg Abbott who transported migrants to DC near Kamala Harris's residence in December 2022. DeSantis flew migrants to Martha's Vineyard in the summer of 2022. Newsom's performance was seen as arrogant, reminiscent of Eliot Spitzer, and a possible audition for a future presidential run against DeSantis. Legal experts do not believe the facts support a kidnapping charge.

Former Biden Staffer Didn’t Get Cited Or Tested For Intoxication After Crash
Former senior adviser to President Joe Biden, Cedric Richmond, was not issued a traffic citation or test for intoxication by the police in spite of him acting bewildered and slurring his speech after crashing into an oak tree. Richmond’s son, who was in the passenger seat at the time, reportedly told officers the accident happened after an orange Corvette swerved in front of their car, but police reports noted that the road was dry and analysis of nearby footage showed no evidence of another car. Police reported that no ODWI citations were issued as there was no reasonable suspicion of intoxication and no odour of alcohol detected.

Air Force Using Taxpayer Dollars to Fly Service Members to Pride Events
The Department of the Air Force (DAF) has authorized use of unit funds to cover travel expenses for service members attending the upcoming “pride” events in Washington, D.C. Service members may attend the events at unit expense to maintain and improve professional competency. An accompanying flyer details three forthcoming events in which the DAF will participate: a “Pride at the Pentagon” celebration, an “LGBTQ+ Initiatives Team (LIT) Symposium,” and a recruiting booth at the D.C. Pride Festival.

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) has introduced legislation banning the Department of Defense (DOD) from funding, hosting, or endorsing adult cabaret performances. The bill defines an “adult cabaret performance” as an entertainment act including topless or go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, or either-gender impersonators. “Anything that does not help our troops be the most effective fighting force on earth is a distraction and a waste of resources,” Rosendale said. Co-sponsors of the bill include Reps. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN), Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), Ryan Harriet Hageman (R-WY).

The Epoch Times: Trapped Between the Most Comfortable and the Most Stressful Era: What's the Way Out?
Trapped Between the Most Comfortable and the Most Stressful Era: What's the Way Out?
Life has objectively gotten easier, but the smartphone revolution has created a constant deluge of low-level demands that make us feel overwhelmed and stressed. This behavior is only possible in a world of relative peace and prosperity, but humans need a healthy sense of urgency to flourish. To prioritize our lives and push aside what is trivial, we need big audacious goals and real skin in the game that will bring a remarkable clarity to our lives. Don't fall for comfort-seeking and ease; do hard things for the sake of others and find happiness.

The Epoch Times: New CDC Director Is Another Lockdowner
New CDC Director Is Another Lockdowner
The ruling class is doubling down on lockdowns in the US. Party membership is proof of loyalty and a demonstration that one can be trusted by those in power. Those who participated in the fiasco are being rewarded, such as Mandy Cohen who will become the CDC's new director. She demonstrates her willingness to do it all again, going through her timeline to see arbitrary, human rights-disregarding decisions. The CDC and NIH are hiring and promoting out of the lockdown party for the future, and it's uncertain when this will change.

Biden State Department Slams Pink Floyd Rocker Roger Waters ‘Long Track Record of Using Antisemitic Tropes’
The Biden administration has stated that Pink Floyd's Roger Waters' recent performances in Germany contained antisemitic imagery, and that Waters has a "long track record of using antisemitic tropes. Waters appeared on stage in a costume reminiscent of Nazi-era Germany. EU antisemitism envoy Katharina von Schnurbein condemned Waters' performance, and police in Berlin opened an investigation of Waters on suspicion of incitement. Waters has drawn criticism from the pro-Israel community for his support of the BDS movement.

NATO may deploy its troops to Ukraine, says former alliance chief – The Guardian
Former NATO Secretary General suggests NATO countries may send troops to Ukraine if security guarantees are not provided to Kyiv at Alliance summit in Lithuania. Poland and Baltic states could engage even stronger in this context, according to Anders Rasmussen. Rasmussen stressed Ukraine should receive written security guarantees, including intelligence sharing, military training, and ammunition production, but added this would not be enough and a clear NATO path for Ukraine must be agreed upon at the summit.

Foreign Policy: Why the U.S.-China ‘Cold War’ Framing Is So Dangerous
Why the U.S.-China ‘Cold War’ Framing Is So Dangerous
The United States is heading towards a new Cold War with China, but assumptions of easy victory are misguided. The victory over communism in the first Cold War came at a high cost to civil liberties, and a new Cold War could lead to more stringent federal surveillance and internal hostility. Anti-China rhetoric could also inspire suspicion and discrimination against Asian Americans. Proposed bans on Chinese ownership of agricultural land and stripping China of normal trade relations status would have severe economic consequences, harming the U.S. economy and causing diplomatic tensions. Preserving American values and establishing the U.S. as an aspirational model for other countries to emulate is more important than a Cold War posture at home.

The Epoch Times: US Doesn't 'Need More Digital Currency,' SEC Chief Says as Agency Cracks Down on Crypto
US Doesn't 'Need More Digital Currency,' SEC Chief Says as Agency Cracks Down on Crypto
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chief, Gary Gensler, believes the U.S. economy does not need more digital currencies as they already have digital investments, including the U.S. dollar, euro, and yen, which are all digital. There are around 25,000 cryptocurrencies today, and the SEC has targeted some of the largest crypto exchanges, including Binance, which the SEC sued, alleging that the exchange commingled billions of dollars in user funds and transferred them to a European firm. Following this, the SEC sued Coinbase, alleging that it was operating as an exchange and an unregistered broker, requesting the website be permanently restrained and enjoined. These events have led to discussions around a central bank digital currency (CBDC).

Although the Federal Reserve produces digital and physical currency, the US dollar has yet to be digitized by the government or the Federal Reserve. However, central bank digital currency (CBDC) has been explored and tested over the past year. The Federal Reserve has been studying the CBDC, which has led to a pilot project with financial institutions, where virtual tokens are used as customers’ deposits. CBDC proponents support this technology, believing it can speed up payments, reduce costs and help unbanked households participate in the financial system. Nevertheless, critics fear that the federal government could use a CBDC for surveillance, leading to talks of legislation to restrict the Fed from using a CBDC.

The Federalist Papers: Experts Warn of 'Big Problem' as Biden Admin Prepares to Crack Down on Stoves and Furnaces
Experts Warn of 'Big Problem' as Biden Admin Prepares to Crack Down on Stoves and Furnaces
The Biden administration's new energy efficiency standards for gas stoves and furnaces will require retrofits and limit consumer choice. Furnaces will be required to meet a 95% annual fuel utilization efficiency standard, outlawing non-condensing furnaces and limiting consumers to more expensive condensing alternatives. Experts warn that the retrofit costs for exhaust systems could be cost-prohibitive for many homeowners. The American Gas Association sees higher emissions and costs for consumers as a result of the administration's policies to restrict natural gas use. The regulations are based on exaggerated climate change assumptions, with no upside for consumers.

Investigation: Mark Zuckerberg's Instagram Failed to Stop Massive Pedophile Network Trading Child Pornography
Instagram, a social media platform owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook, is facing criticism for its failure to stop the creation and purchase of child pornography. According to researchers at Stanford University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Instagram’s algorithms, which were created to link users with similar interests, promote these illegal activities by recommending similar content and linking content sellers and pedophiles. The platform's features are being exploited by pedophiles, who have taken advantage of its use of hashtags for content discovery. The issue has prompted Facebook to create a task force, but critics say that the problem is far from being solved.

Flag And Cross: How Chimpanzees Are Just Like Human Babies
How Chimpanzees Are Just Like Human Babies
Chimpanzees use "sign language" similar to human babies for communication, which develops throughout infancy and adolescence, according to research by Durham University. The primates use gestures, vocalizations and facial expressions for multiple purposes including initiating grooming, contact, play, fighting and during sexual encounters. The study provides evidence that chimpanzees communicate with increased complexity akin to development seen in human infants, and helps shed light on potential evolutionary continuity between humans and apes, the authors said. Chimps share about 96% of human DNA and have unique fingerprints and even a sense of humour, but numbers have fallen dramatically in West Africa due to hunting for bush meat and the illegal pet trade.

Smoke From Wildfires Prompts Air Quality Concerns in Ontario
Smoke from wildfires in northern Quebec and Ontario is causing poor air quality in cities, such as Toronto and New York. Air quality statements have been issued in southern Ontario and the US, warning people to avoid outdoor activities and contact healthcare providers if they experience breathing difficulties. More than 150 wildfires are burning in Quebec, with 30 in northeast Ontario, and evacuations are underway. With over 3.3 million hectares already burnt across the country, it is suggested that 2023 may be one of the worst years on record blamed on climate change and dry, windy conditions.

Undersea Connectors Show The Way To Globalization Of Electricity
Alternative Transmission Inc. plans to supply electricity via undersea cable from the U.S. mainland to Puerto Rico and beyond, with big investments and engineering taking place to support renewable energy globally. Globalisation has had a positive impact on electricity, with undersea cable technology benefitting from improved laying techniques and a widespread acceptance of high-voltage direct current connectors. The goal is to use wind and solar farms to generate electricity in renewable-rich locales, then transport it to consuming hubs, such as the sun-deprived islands of the Caribbean.
