Mayor London Breed's budget proposal for San Francisco calls for an increase in spending by 4% for the 2023-24 fiscal year, but with a request for an eye-watering $14.6 billion, it does little to address the two-year deficit of $780 million. The Federalist: EXCLUSIVE: Barr Confirms Raskin Lied About Biden Bribery Probe
Former Attorney General William Barr denies Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin's claim that he and his chosen prosecutor ended an investigation into an alleged $5 million bribe to Joe Biden. Instead, Barr asserts that the investigation was sent to Delaware for additional investigation. Additionally, Raskin falsely suggested that the investigation was related to information brought forth by Rudy Giuliani into the corruption of the Biden family in Ukraine when this was not the case. The alleged failure of the FBI to investigate and classify the information inappropriately, coupled with Director Christopher Wray's apparent attempt to frame the informant from a confidential human source as obtaining intel from Giuliani, has led to calls for Wray to reveal the FBI's work or face contempt of Congress.

The Epoch Times: Oil Prices Edge Higher as Saudi Cut Outweighs Bearish Backdrop
Saudi Arabia's pledge to cut output by 1 million bpd in July lead to an increase in oil prices, with Brent crude futures rising 0.5% to $76.65 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude futures up 0.5% to $72.11. The market is in danger of a "massive shortfall" with some estimates suggesting the additional Saudi cuts will deepen the deficit to more than 3 million bpd by July. Weak Chinese economic data initially caused prices to fall, however, China's crude oil imports rose to their third-highest monthly level in May. The US Energy Information Administration also said their crude oil production will rise faster than expected this year.

Pyne's book "How the Canyon Became Grand: A Short History" explores how social, artistic, literary, political and intellectual influences have put the Grand Canyon on the world map. It goes beyond the geological creation story and beginning with a general explanation about the Canyon's formation and how Native people and exploration corps may have witnessed it, it shows how modernity changed the way we see it. Teddy Roosevelt declared the Canyon as one of the great sights every American should see, artists painted vivid, majestic views, and photographers captured scenes in high-contrast black and white. Pyne notes that the Canyon's rim was American art’s greatest gallery and its greatest pulpit.
