Progressive Texas judge suggests illegal immigrants could receive universal basic income
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo says that illegal immigrants could receive a universal basic income under the Uplift Harris pilot program. The program, set up by Harris County Democrats, aims to allocate $500 monthly to around 1,500 families for 18 months, using $20.5 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds. The program targets people living below 200% of the poverty line in high-poverty zip codes. The hearing for the proposal took place on Tuesday, and it is likely to pass due to the Democratic majority on the Harris County Commissioners Court.

Reagan’s words and our family
Ronald Reagan was nominated by the California GOP for governor in 1966, which marked the beginning of his political career. He won two terms as governor, spoke at the GOP conventions in 1968 and 1972, and ran for president in 1980 and 1984.

RNC to launch campaign pushing Republicans to vote early in 2024
The Republican National Committee is launching a "Bank Your Vote" nationwide campaign to maximize pre-Election Day voting and encourage Republican voters to lock in their votes early through in-person early voting, absentee voting, and ballot harvesting. The RNC hopes this will help beat Joe Biden and the Democrats in 2024. The GOP is coining on early voting gains from the 2022 election cycle to build on the efforts further.

Red State: SPLC Targets Moms for Liberty, Designating Them 'Anti-Government Extremists'
SPLC Targets Moms for Liberty, Designating Them 'Anti-Government Extremists'
The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled Moms for Liberty, a grassroots organization advocating for parental rights, as an “anti-government” and “extremist” group in their 2022 Year in Hate & Extremism report. They stand out for being an “anti-student inclusion” group and allegedly employ intimidation and harassment tactics. Moms for Liberty promotes parental rights bills and anti-CRT bills; they endorse school board candidates, lobby for parental rights, and advocate for age-appropriate teaching. Though criticized for their conservative values, they serve as a vital voice for parents who feel their concerns are overlooked or dismissed.

Moms for Liberty represents concerned parents who are passionate about shaping their children’s education and safeguarding parental rights. While promoting family values and conservative principles, they engage with young mothers in expanding these values and creating future leaders. By actively participating in school board elections, they seek to protect educational systems from ideological agendas that may infringe upon parents’ rights or undermine traditional family values. They empower parents, promote educational choice, and ensure that the curriculum aligns with the common values of American families.

Missouri Senate Hopeful's $50K Magic Card Collection Earns Him an Ethics Complaint
Democratic candidate and Missouri native Lucas Kunce is being accused of undervaluing his collection of Magic: The Gathering trading cards, which is estimated to be worth $50,000. A conservative group claims Kunce repeatedly omitted the collection from his financial disclosures, going against federal law and violating ethics rules. Kunce, who is running for the Missouri Senate in a long-shot campaign against Josh Hawley, has received previous criticism for his inauthenticity and phony Missouri accent during his campaign. The Senate Ethics Committee is now investigating the allegations against Kunce.

Column: Bold Truth-Telling Is Out on President Biden's Old Age
President Biden's recent fall at the Air Force Academy commencement raises concerns about his age and abilities. The New York Times published a front-page article addressing the issue, citing a recent poll that found 73 percent of Americans believe Biden is too old to be in office. While anonymous sources defend Biden's sharpness and fitness, many Democrats express "enormous anxiety" and believe he is too old to serve another full term. The media-Democrat complex appears to be avoiding the age issue and downplaying its significance.

Forbes: The 2023 Ranking Of Free-Market Think Tanks And Organizations Measured By Social Media Impact
The 2023 Ranking Of Free-Market Think Tanks And Organizations Measured By Social Media Impact
Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter has had little impact on free-market organizations' social media rankings. Covid-19 restrictions increased think tanks' social media presence, but growth rates have slowed down on popular platforms like Facebook and Twitter. National Review and Reason have the most web traffic among groups anchored in magazines, while PragerU leads on most platforms among groups focusing on educational and advocacy videos. Turning Point USA is catching up with Heritage Foundation in social media impact, while Hoover Institution leads on all social media platforms among university-based think tanks.

American Thinker: To defeat transgender madness, maybe it’s time to embrace their logic
To defeat transgender madness, maybe it’s time to embrace their logic
Transgenderism is a hot topic and a spearhead for destroying America’s children and institutions. Matt Walsh’s documentary, What is a Woman?, has gained 170 million views worldwide exposing the fact that the definition of a woman is a person with XX chromosomes who belongs to the class of people capable of having babies. However, for leftists, it’s always about their desires operating as fact. Every person becomes his or her own god whose divine proclamations must be accepted. Therefore, extension of the "transgender" philosophy could be a breakthrough to bring it directly to every advocate’s doorstep and core identity.

Blinken meets with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman amid strained relations
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia. The two countries discussed their commitment to advancing stability, security, and prosperity across the Middle East, but tensions remain due to disagreements over crude oil supply, partnering with Russia in OPEC+, and relations with Iran. Despite these conflicts, their relationship remains crucial to Saudi Arabia's reliance on the US as a security guarantor and shared interests in ending the war in Yemen and striking a lasting cease-fire in Sudan.

US, Japan, Philippines Hold 1st Ever Trilateral Sea Exercise to Strengthen Defense Ties
The US, Japan, and the Philippines held their first trilateral exercises in the South China Sea, in a bid to strengthen defense cooperation amid China's growing assertiveness. The week-long Kaagapay maritime exercise, which started on June 1 in the Philippine waters, involved around 400 coast guard personnel from the three nations. The exercise aims to strengthen interoperability through communication and maneuvering exercises, as well as maritime law enforcement training, search and rescue, and passing exercises.

The defense ministers of the US, Japan, the Philippines, and Australia held their first quadrilateral talks at the Shangri-La Dialogue defense summit in Singapore. The defense ministers discussed regional issues of common interest and expressed that they share the vision of a 'Free and Open Indo-Pacific.' Philippine Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez urged all parties to express support for the 2016 South China Sea Arbitration Award to preserve the global order at sea and uphold the universally recognized principles of international law. The Philippines and the US also agreed in February to restart joint maritime patrols in the disputed sea.

The Epoch Times: Seattle City Council Rejects Bill Allowing City Attorney to Prosecute Open-Air Drug Use, Possession
Seattle City Council Rejects Bill Allowing City Attorney to Prosecute Open-Air Drug Use, Possession
Seattle City Council rejected a proposal that would have allowed the city attorney to prosecute public drug use and possession for the first time, despite a 72% increase in drug-related deaths from last year. The legislation would have classified these offenses as gross misdemeanors, in line with a bill passed by Washington State Legislature in May. Councilmember Tammy Morales argued the bill would unfairly target homeless people with substance abuse disorders, leaving them incarcerated or unable to pay heavy fines. Despite this, health officials believe more than 589 people died of drug overdoses in Seattle in 2022, with the majority of deaths attributed to highly-addictive opioids like fentanyl.

Fox News: Joran van der Sloot will likely be transferred to US despite last-minute efforts: Interpol official
Joran van der Sloot will likely be transferred to US despite last-minute efforts: Interpol official
Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba in 2005, is set to be transferred to the United States from Peru. Despite a last-minute attempt by his lawyer to have him remain in Peru, an Interpol official has said he believes the transfer will still go ahead on Thursday. Van der Sloot is currently serving time in a Peruvian prison for the murder of Stephany Flores in 2010 and is being held at the Ancón 1 Prison in Lima until he is transferred to FBI custody.

Beth Holloway, Natalee’s mother, said that the transfer of van der Sloot gives her the chance to finally get justice for her daughter. Although she has never been found, Natalee Holloway was declared legally dead in 2012, and van der Sloot pleaded guilty to killing Flores the same year. Van der Sloot, a Dutch national, was sentenced to 28 years in prison for Flores’s murder, with additional time added for his involvement in a drug smuggling scandal whilst in jail.

Forbes: The PGA Tour-PIF (LIV Golf) Partnership Is Jimmy Dunne’s Latest M&A Success
The PGA Tour-PIF (LIV Golf) Partnership Is Jimmy Dunne’s Latest M&A Success
PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) have entered into a new partnership, forming a new commercial entity and ending two years of tension with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour. Jimmy Dunne, an Independent Director on the PGA Tour Board and an avid golfer, played a key role in initiating the talks between PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and the Saudis, and helped facilitate the improbable merger between the two parties as they seek to grow the game of golf. The terms of the agreement have yet to be finalized.

Dunne, a veteran advisor on mergers and acquisitions in the financial industry, was one of the founders of Sandler O’Neill + Partners and continues to work as the vice chairman and senior managing principal of Piper Sandler. In 2001, he lost 66 employees when hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center in New York. Dunne has been vocal in his criticism of the Saudi Tour, but ultimately helped bring the Saudi PIF and the PGA Tour together, with the PIF coming aboard as the “exclusive investor” in the for-profit side while the tour retains its tax-exempt status and control over its tournaments.
