The University of Pittsburgh demanded that conservative students pay $18,734 in security and damage fees after a mob of 250 leftist protesters rioted at their event. The University initially informed the students that the event would cost $2,000 in security fees, however, as the date neared, the costs increased substantially, the legal firm stated. ADF insisted that school officials encouraged students to protest the debate.

The groups are resisting, alleging the university’s move violates their First Amendment rights. A senior counsel for conservative legal organisation Alliance Defending Freedom, Philip A. Sechler, called charging the groups so much money for a campus event prohibitively expensive speech, better known as the “heckler’s veto” and has urged the university to rescind the fee and protect everyone’s freedom of speech.

The choir's performance was interrupted, but they will now have the opportunity to complete it in front of a much larger audience with the former president as the guest of honor.
Fox News: McCarthy blames conservatives' House floor revolt on possible Scalise 'miscalculation'
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reprimanded his top deputy, Steve Scalise, for the chaos that erupted on the House floor on Tuesday, which led to a procedural measure being tanked by 11 hard-line Republicans, with McCarthy admitting to being "blindsided". The rebels accused GOP leadership of exacting revenge against Rep. Andrew Clyde for his attempt to block the debt limit bill from coming to a vote in the House. Many members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus will blockade further action on the chamber floor over anger at McCarthy for how he handled the debt limit deal struck between him and President Biden over Memorial Day weekend.
McCarthy expressed confidence he would emerge from the current drama unscathed, saying that he doesn't think not winning on the first vote for speaker is a bad thing. His and Scalise's alliance has faced reports of tension in the past, despite Scalise asserting they have a strong relationship. Although Scalise supported McCarthy during all 15 rounds of the speaker vote in January, his name was still floated by some GOP lawmakers as a possible alternative to the former Minority Leader at the time. McCarthy will bring Rep. Clyde's bill for a vote next week.
