The Epoch Times: Texas Sheriff Files Felony Charges Connected to Flights for Illegal Immigrants to Martha's Vineyard Arranged by DeSantis
Felony charges have been filed regarding illegal immigrant flights from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard organized by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis last fall. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office filed a completed criminal case with the county District Attorney's Office regarding relocating 49 “migrants.” The charge filed is unlawful restraint, and several accounts were filed, both misdemeanor and felony. At the same time, California’s top law enforcement official called transporting illegal immigrants out of states “kidnapping” and announced an investigation into similar flights to Sacramento. The investigations appear aimed at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who recently launched a run for president.

Fox News: Tim Scott gave the 'perfect' response to Sunny Hostin, says Kellyanne Conway
Kellyanne Conway praises Sen. Tim Scott for his response to "The View's" questioning of systematic racism, saying he pushed back with facts and gave a "perfect" response. Scott criticized the show's previous comments that African-Americans can only succeed by being the "exception," calling it a "dangerous, offensive, disgusting message." Conway highlighted Scott's correct statement that the U.S. has had an African American president, two secretaries of state, and a Black vice president.
Fox News: Conservative Bud Light strategy takes down leftists with their own ‘Rules’
Conservatives are using the same tactics as the left to boycott businesses that support liberal causes, such as Anheuser-Busch's partnership with a transgender influencer. The Saul Alinsky rule of "pick a target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it" was used against Bud Light, causing it to lose market share. This new strategy may prove to be an important tool for conservatives to direct companies back to social neutrality.
Woke capitalism has driven a wedge between conservatives and their longtime allies in business, as businesses have become increasingly socially liberal. This has led to some conservative circles supporting policies that would empower organized labor, something conservatives of the past would reject. However, the recent success of conservative boycotts against brands like Bud Light shows a new strategy to push back against liberal campaigns like ESG investing and business "scoring" that encourage or compel businesses to take liberal social stands.
Fox News: As Pence, Christie jump into GOP presidential race, also-rans in both parties remain long shots
Republican Gov. Chris Sununu announces he won't run for president as he doesn't want to add to the anti-Trump field. Sununu wants the GOP to attract more independents and younger voters. Meanwhile, Mike Pence and Chris Christie are taking the leap, making Sununu's impact negligible. On the Democratic side, no serious challenger has emerged, making a Biden-Trump rematch the preferred media narrative.
Townhall: House Freedom Caucus Gets Its Revenge for Debt Deal
Eleven Republican lawmakers blocked their party's bill to prohibit the use of Federal funds to ban gas stoves, by torpedoing a rule vote on the floor of the lower chamber. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise also voted against the rule in order to preserve his ability to bring the rule back to the floor for a vote at a later time. The move to block the House from moving forward with consideration of the Republican bill was done as an act of protest against GOP leadership, launched by the 11 lawmakers to register their disapproval of the way the deal to avert a debt default was handled.
The conflict between Republican members of the House of Representatives was reportedly the first time such a procedural tactic had been used in years, as members of the House Freedom Caucus torpedoed a rule vote on the floor of the lower chamber. The House uncharacteristically defeated the “rule” providing for the parameters to consider the gas stove legislation, and the vote was 220 to 206 to block the rule. According to one “no”-voting Rep, the showdown was an ambush on leadership, while another explained that the main issue was how a Representative was allegedly threatened by leadership that a bill of his wouldn't be brought to the floor if he didn't vote for the rule to pass the debt deal.
Townhall: Socialism Versus Nature
Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez advocate socialism as a solution to the greed of the fossil fuel industry. However, Tom Palmer of the Atlas Network argues that socialism's environmental record is disastrous, citing examples from socialist countries like China and the Soviet Union. Socialism's central planning means that government officials are prone to make mistakes that result in pollution and ecological disasters. Conversely, capitalism with its property rights and free market can provide the financial means to support natural preservation, resulting in better environmental outcomes.
Townhall: Bold Truth-Telling Is Out on Biden's Old Age
The New York Times addressed concerns over President Biden's age after his recent fall at the Air Force Academy commencement. A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 73% of Americans believe he is too old to hold office. While some anonymous sources have defended Biden's capabilities, others within the Democratic Party express anxiety over his ability to continue serving as president. The media has largely avoided the issue, with The Times providing a Biden-boosting "news analysis" and not addressing the lack of press conferences or interviews with the president.
The Epoch Times: IN-DEPTH: Democrats Decry GOP Anti-ESG Hearing as ‘An Attack on Economic Freedom’
Energy experts claim that ESG investing is reducing living standards and harming civil rights, citing that it drives up energy prices and has taken a harsh toll on US oil and gas production. Witnesses testified that ESG also harms pensioners by reducing the value of their investments. Democrats on the committee protested that GOP efforts against ESG threatened Americans’ economic freedom.
Townhall: Disney Works to Destroy the Values That Built Its Company
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been sued by Disney for removing special tax and regulatory treatment due to their opposition to the Parental Rights in Education Act. Passed into law in 2022, the act prohibits instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3 and 4-12, assuming that conveying this material to young children is the responsibility of parents, not public school bureaucrats. Christians see education differently: it's about conveying knowledge and skills to become responsible adults, not indulging rudimentary instincts in children. The priority of those who call Ron DeSantis fascist is not seeking freedom, but indoctrinating their agenda.
Townhall: The Biden Administration Still Insists That Cannabis Consumers Have No Right to Arms
Despite the legalization of marijuana in many states, the Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibits cannabis consumers from exercising their Second Amendment rights. This law comes with severe federal penalties, including up to 15 years in prison for owning a firearm. While the Biden administration is defending this policy, federal judges have recently rejected the government's claim that the "widespread practice" of using cannabis renders individuals dangerous or untrustworthy, and that they must be stripped of their Second Amendment rights.
The Epoch Times: Jim Jordan, Judiciary Committee Press Garland for Answers on FBI Investigations
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is investigating the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago, the former president's estate, which occurred in August 2022. Jordan is seeking to understand the parameters of Jack Smith's investigation of the confiscated materials. The investigation follows legal action against the former president and his involvement in the January 6th Capitol protests. Republicans have accused the FBI of misconduct and derailing Trump's previous presidential campaigns.
Attorney General Merrick Garland is facing pressure from Jordan and other Republicans to clarify the authority and jurisdiction of special counsel Jack Smith in the investigation into Mar-a-Lago. Jordan also sent a letter to Garland requesting information on how the FBI is being used in Smith's investigation. The raid involved the removal of 27 boxes of materials marked as "confidential," "secret," and "top secret." Republicans have condemned the raid as an example of government overreach, while Democrats have cheered it.
Townhall: MS-13: From El Salvador to Your Neighborhood
MS-13 gang members commit horrific crimes, including beheading, dismemberment, and burning. The gang's rule is "kill, rape, control," and members are required to kill. They bring terror to neighborhoods and have been linked to more than 65 murders in the New York City area since 2009. The Biden administration is shepherding migrants into the country without vetting them for gang affiliations or criminal records, leading to deadly consequences for Americans.
Many unaccompanied minors entering the country are actually teens and adults falsely posing as children, and about 30% of MS-13 gang members arrested entered the US as unaccompanied minors. Vetting is minimal, and federal authorities have removed just one-third of 1% of unaccompanied minors in the last three years. The Biden administration's approach is the opposite of Trump's, who detained suspected gang members until they reached age 18 and could be handed over to ICE for possible deportation. Mayor Eric Adams' suggestion that New Yorkers open their homes to unvetted migrants is reckless.

Front Page Magazine: Jussie Smollett Has Competition for the Least Plausible Hate Crime Ever
Actress Ellen Page was threatened by a transphobic man while walking to a convenience store in West Hollywood last year. The man shouted obscenities at her, forcing her to run toward the store in fear. He allegedly followed her, standing at the store's doorway and shouting that she was the reason he needed a gun. Page did not report the incident to authorities and only recently shared the story while promoting her memoir. Some have questioned the validity of the hate crime, as Page now identifies as a man and is married to a woman.
The Economist: Prince Harry complains again, this time in court
Britain's Prince Harry appeared in court this week, complaining about tabloid journalists who used illegal means to get information on him. The last royal to appear in court was in 2002 when Prince Anne faced trial for an attack by her dog. This time, Prince Harry faced questions from King's Counsel about his "difficult relationship with the tabloid press in the UK".
Children's centres in Britain are filling up again, but the pandemic has changed how they operate. Britons love their seaside towns, though many are declining due to economic woes. Finally, the UK is falling behind in clinical trials of new medicines, losing the lead established during the pandemic.
The Epoch Times: Plane Crash Kills 2 Men in New York State
A Cirrus SR22 crashed in a field in New York, killing two men who were on board. The pilot and passenger died in the resulting fire. Euromaidan Press: Kakhovka Reservoir water level dropped by about 2.5 meters over past day – Ukrhydroenergo
Water levels in the Kakhovka Reservoir have dropped 2.5 meters since yesterday, following the explosion of the Kakhovka Dam by Russian troops, according to hydro power plants operator Ukrhydroenergo. Over 1,800 houses have been flooded in the Kherson Oblast, with 1,457 people evacuated and over 170 pieces of equipment involved in relief efforts. Hazardous chemicals and infectious agents from cemeteries, toilets, and landfills may contaminate wells and open water bodies, warns Ukrhydroenergo.
Euromaidan Press: Frontline report: Kakhovka flooding prompts Ukraine to evacuate troops from Kherson islands
The Kahovka Hydroelectric Power Plant in southern Ukraine was partially destroyed, leading to widespread flooding and military setbacks. There are disputes regarding the cause of the failure, with Russia claiming that Ukrainians blew up the dam and Ukrainians pointing out that only Russians had access to the middle section of the dam. The flooding has caused a humanitarian and ecological crisis, and both sides are evacuating their troops and ammunition from the affected areas. The long-term implications of the dam failure remain uncertain, but it has temporarily cancelled the Ukrainian counteroffensive from the Kherson direction.

The Federalist: Send American Police To Restore Order In Central America
Britain will station special police officers in North African countries to help break up human trafficking gangs and stop massive-scale migration into Europe. The US could consider using a similar tactic with our own migrant crisis. A permanent and detached American officer class fixing some of Latin American social, financial, and governmental problems would be better than whatever system is currently in place, and negate the main argument that this nation needs a regular supply of labor force to compete with manufacturing giants such as China.
The Epoch Times: Media Barred From Australian Premier's Address to Chinese Dinner
Victorian state leader Daniel Andrews is under pressure to release a transcript of his speech to a Chinese-Australian business forum, from which a Herald Sun journalist was barred. The event was co-hosted by the Melbourne branch of the China Chamber of Commerce and the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, a group with links to the Chinese Communist Party’s intelligence agency. Andrews, leader of the Labor party, has been accused of being too uncritical in his support of China, particularly concerning his trip to the country in April.
The Epoch Times: Revealed: TikTok Code Worked on From China
TikTok's Chinese engineers are writing the app's code, potentially allowing the Chinese government to access the personal data of over one billion users worldwide. Concerns have been raised that the code enables staff to silence dissenting voices and push pro-communist propaganda. Numerous email addresses of ByteDance engineers were found in posts seeking help fixing code from other developers or as contacts for job ads in mainland China. There are also fears that Beijing could compel the app's owners to share data or make algorithm changes to please the Communist Party. Shadow Minister for Cyber Security, James Paterson, has called for the Australian government to ban TikTok on government devices.

The Epoch Times: Binance Lawsuit Triggers $700M in Withdrawals
The SEC has filed 13 charges against Binance and its CEO, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, for allegedly participating in an “extensive web of deception” to mislead customers and evade federal regulatory laws. The case against the troubled crypto platform will be held in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Outflows from Binance hit $719 million within 24 hours after charges were filed by the federal regulator on Monday, according to data from Nansen.ai. At one point during trading hours, net withdrawals from the platform rose as high as $230 million after the SEC announced its lawsuit.
The SEC alleged the defendants attempted to evade U.S. securities laws “by announcing sham controls that they disregarded behind the scenes so that they could keep high-value U.S. customers on their platforms.” The defendants were accused of creating separate entities “to evade U.S. federal securities laws” and commingling customer funds diverting them to a separate entity owned by Zhao, called Sigma Chain. Cryptocurrency prices nosedived as much as $320 million across the board on Monday, as news of the multiple federal securities charges leaked to the media. Meanwhile, the SEC alleged that multiple tokens including Binance’s BNB token, Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), Polygon (MATIC), Coti (COTI), and Algorand blockchains (ALGO), were actually securities.

The Epoch Times: Cheques to Disappear in Australia by 2030
Australia is set to phase out cheque usage by 2030, with the government stopping usage by the end of 2028, as part of a plan to modernize the payment system. Treasurer Jim Chalmers said current regulation "predate the development of mobile payments," and that given cheques' usage has decreased by 90% in the past decade, they represent an inefficient way to service a "tiny and declining fraction of payments." Chalmers also announced updates to the regulations governing financial institutes in the country, including requirements for the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority to consider climate change risks in its work.
The Epoch Times: Government Have 'Given Up' on Fighting Inflation: Deputy Liberal Leader
Deputy Opposition leader Sussan Ley claims the Australian government has given up on controlling inflation and has no plans to address the issue, citing the need for affordable and reliable energy. Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor agrees, blaming the budget for contributing to inflation and undermining the Reserve Bank's efforts to control it. However, Finance Minister Katy Gallagher denies wages are creating the inflation problem and places Australia's inflation challenge on global factors, such as the Russia-Ukraine war. RBA governor Philip Lowe warns that compensating everyone for inflation will only drive inflation up further and that Australia must navigate a "narrow path" back to a two to three percent inflation rate.

The Federalist: How To Protect Your Children's Innocent Awe Of The Rainbow
As parents, we shouldn't banish rainbows from our children's world despite pride month being around the corner. The proper response to a rainbow is to appreciate its beauty, not to let one's subjective feelings judge whether to feel awe or not, and we must inculcate just sentiments in our children instead of trying to get rid of false ones. By instilling such values, we can teach our children to beware of strangers with candy without questioning the joys of candy itself, and protect them from the dangerous aspects of being too prideful. Otherwise, that wonder may never grow at all and it's important to also look up and appreciate God's creation.

Fox News: Sydney Sweeney, Olivia Wilde, Scarlett Johansson embrace 'intentional wardrobe malfunction' trend
Hollywood stars are intentionally showing off their lingerie with their red carpet outfits, with Sydney Sweeney leading the trend at Cannes in a Miu Miu slip dress revealing her powder blue bra. Scarlett Johansson and Charlize Theron followed suit with their own exposed displays, updating timeless pieces to a modern moment. Fashion expert Melissa Rivers points out that lingerie as outerwear is not a new trend, with Dolce & Gabbana doing it a hundred years ago. Nonetheless, the trend shows how fashion is cyclical, and is a big part of high fashion on the red carpet.
Kelsea Ballerini, country music superstar, debuted the trend in April for the CMT Music Awards red carpet when she walked with straps out in a grey Dolce & Gabbana dress. Olivia Wilde took a different approach and brandished her black bra with a white dress at a post Oscars celebration in March. According to Rivers, the trend is not made for civilians.
Front Page Magazine: First Classic Novels Were Censored, Now Classic Films
Disney is being blamed for the crude cutting of a racial slur in the Criterion release of The French Connection, when it obtained rights to the movie after buying FOX. Gone With the Wind was previously removed by HBO MAX for being insensitive. This has set a dangerous precedent for censorship in the film industry, especially with the growing list of butchered movies and censorship of classic novels such as Agatha Christie, Ian Fleming, and Roald Dahl.
The Epoch Times: Positive and Uplifting, Likable and Fun: Television’s Golden Age of Family Sitcoms

Forbes: Asia (ex China) Is Asleep At The AI Wheel
Asia needs to take a more prominent role in managing the risks and rewards of AI due to its large population and GDP. While China is leading the charge, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore are also at the forefront of manufacturing semiconductors. However, many other countries in the region, such as India and the Philippines, appear unmoved by the potential impact AI could have on their economies and job markets. Asian governance platforms need to actively engage in managing the economic boon and dealing with social risks that come with the adoption of AI.

Fox News: Ted Turner biographer says CNN founder ‘really unhappy’ with dysfunction-plagued network: 'It's appalling'
Ted Turner's biographer, Porter Bibb, wishes the CNN founder was healthy enough to restore the network's credibility. Turner suffers from Lewy body dementia, and Bibb doubts Turner is happy with CNN's current content. CNN CEO Chris Licht has been vilified by liberals for offering former President Trump a platform during a town hall event. Bibb believes Turner would be particularly bothered by this recent infighting, and that CNN has been troubled by a lack of an audience and too much left-leaning content. Bibb also thinks that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav won't have much patience for Licht, and predicts that Licht will be replaced within the next 90 days.
