Spectator USA: Chris gets Licht: Jeff Zucker’s inmates still run the CNN asylum
Chris Licht is out at CNN after just over a year of facing internal mutinies and attempting to pull the network away from its progressive bias. Despite Licht's efforts, CNN remained committed to the "bloodsport" of opposing any policy or elected power coming from the political right. Licht failed to show the rest of the CNN Deep State the door, and ultimately lost his job due to the network's need for Trump, now more than ever.

The Epoch Times: Calgary Puts New Limits on Distribution of Pro-Life Material
Calgary has implemented a new bylaw that requires pro-life flyers to be enclosed in opaque envelopes with graphic content warnings and the sender's name and address. The City Council voted unanimously in favor of these requirements. A city staff report said that some Calgarians had reported feeling traumatized by images of aborted fetuses on flyers delivered to their homes. Both Prolife Alberta and Campaign Life Coalition expressed concern that the new legislation limits freedom of expression. Bill 80, dealing with graphic images of fetuses, is now making its way through Ontario's legislature. In 2021, 87,307 abortions took place in Canada.
The Epoch Times: Far-Left Group Puts Moms for Liberty on Map With KKK Chapters
The Southern Poverty Law Center has added parental rights organizations such as Moms for Liberty and Parental Rights in Education to its "hate map" and labeled them "antigovernment groups." The SPLC report claims that the parental rights movement targets inclusive curricula and was spurred by the right-wing backlash to COVID-19 public safety measures in schools. However, the report does not mention the Left's aggressive promotion of sexualized material for children in schools and other venues. The new list includes 523 "hate groups" and 702 "antigovernment extremist groups." Parents Defending Education and Parents Against Critical Race Theory appear on the SPLC's list of "antigovernment extremist groups."

Euromaidan Press: Ukraine orders Russian-aligned Orthodox church to leave Kyiv monastery withing two days
Ukraine ordered Russian-aligned Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate to leave Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Monastery in two days, after accusing some of its clergy of collaborating with Russian invaders. The decision was made after a special government commission established by Ukraine’s Culture Ministry found numerous rent term violations by the holy tenants. The commission finished its work on the Lavra territory and documented findings, requiring Moscow Patriarchate monks to leave the monastery within three days.

National Review: The Corner: Europe Follows Macron’s Lead on China
Most Europeans (62%) would want their country to remain neutral in a potential US-China conflict over Taiwan, according to a survey by the European Council of Foreign Relations. Only Sweden fell short of outright majority at 49%. European leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron have hinted at an attitude of indifference. The weight of reality in eastern Europe has ginned up support for the Ukrainian cause. However, the support for any US cause in Indo-Pacific is uncertain. The US cannot afford to lean on unreliable allies, requiring us to consider alternative options.
The Federalist: Senate GOP To Pentagon: Investigate Biden Official For Intel Leaks
Senate Republicans have called for an investigation into Colin Kahl, the undersecretary of defense for policy, accusing him of leaking classified information about Chinese surveillance balloons to the media. Kahl is alleged to have provided reporters with classified information about prior Chinese surveillance balloons after a device was identified over US airspace earlier this year. Republican senators claim that Kahl's leak appears to be intended to distract from the Biden administration’s own conduct by attacking political opponents. Kahl has previously been accused of leaking classified information and promoting the Trump-Russia collusion hoax.

Mulvaney admitted that he would have been more cautious about posting his transition videos if he knew he would gain fame for it. Despite growing up as a Catholic, Mulvaney found solace in theater programs that allowed him to be "queer." He also expressed fear of being followed and experiencing negative media attention.

Daily Wire: Louisiana Legislature Sends Ban On Child Sex Change Changes To Governor’s Desk
Louisiana legislature passed a bill banning puberty blockers, cross-sex hormone therapy, and sex change operations on children, with doctors who provide medical sex change interventions potentially having their licenses revoked for at least two years. The legislation, HB 648, passed via a veto-proof majority in the state legislature and if signed into law, Louisiana will join a growing number of US states enacting similar legislation.
The Epoch Times: Sugar May Be Linked to Alzheimer’s, Experts Explain Why
Increased sugar consumption and elevated blood glucose levels can trigger the growth of toxic proteins in the brain, a key indicator of Alzheimer's disease, according to new research from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Consuming sugar water instead of regular drinking water led to the formation of more amyloid plaques in the brains of mice. The researchers identified metabolic sensors called ATP-sensitive potassium channels that play a role in this process. Earlier onset diabetes is linked to an increased risk of significant cognitive decline, with prolonged exposure to elevated blood sugar levels being the primary driver of Alzheimer's disease. A clinical trial is investigating the safety and effectiveness of nasal spray insulin and empagliflozin, an FDA-approved drug used for Type 2 diabetes, in improving cognition and reducing amyloid proteins associated with Alzheimer's disease.

The Epoch Times: 8 Young Workers at Drug Cartel Call Center Killed, Bodies Placed in Bags
Earlier last month, six men and two women reported missing were feared dead after relatives notified local authorities that their children had not returned from work at a call centre near Guadalajara. The forensic examiners have confirmed that the body parts discovered are related to these missing call centre workers. The apparent motive of the brutal murder is due to the youths trying to leave their job at the centre, which was in fact run by the Jalisco New Generation cartel and specialised in scamming money from Americans and Canadians through fake offers to buy their timeshares. There are concerns over the safety of those thought to be working in call centres in Mexico, as they are believed to be a major employment source for young people and migrants who have English language skills.
The Epoch Times: FBI Warns of Sextortion Scams Using ‘Deepfakes‘
The FBI has warned about criminals using AI to create deepfakes of images and videos found online to use in sextortion schemes, with an increase in reports of such activity in 2022. Pandemic-related remote working is exacerbating the issue, as malicious actors are pasting the faces of executives onto pre-recorded interviews to gain access to sensitive information. Recommendations suggest paying attention to privacy settings and limiting the sharing of personal content on social media, using reverse image searches to locate unexpected postings of pictures and videos, not accepting friend requests from strangers and using caution during video chats.

National Review: The Corner: Surveying Media’s Perverse ‘Anti-Woke Centrism’
The recent defenestration of CNN chief Chris Licht was attributed to a range of issues, including Licht's detachment from day-to-day operations and destabilizing business ventures that failed. Washington Post writer Perry Bacon Jr. claims that Licht's problem, along with all media, is being too centrist, with a skepticism of progressive causes and ideas, particularly regarding gender, race, and sexuality. To evaluate this claim, a survey of media coverage regarding transitioning therapies for children shows a lack of neutral framing, with outlets emphasizing the promotion of surgical and pharmaceutical remedies for gender dysphoria and legislation restricting the rights of trans children.
The media's commitment to "anti-woke centrism" has not cost anyone their jobs, and media content continues to be produced with a bias that leans left on issues concerning gender, race, and sexuality. While Licht was admonishing journalists to "not virtue signal" and encouraging skepticism of progressive ideas, the media's bias has not shifted, and Licht now descends to earth after his recent firing.
