Front Page Magazine: Will You Take $100 Bucks a Day to House an Illegal Migrant?
Will You Take $100 Bucks a Day to House an Illegal Migrant?
NYC Mayor Eric Adams is proposing to pay homeowners to house asylum seekers, offering $100 a night or more to those with spare rooms. Adams hopes this will be a cheaper way to accommodate the thousands of asylum seekers arriving in the city. However, some residents are doubtful the plan will be a success due to the city's severe eviction protections and uncertainty surrounding whether the migrants will leave when asked. Nonetheless, Mayor Adams' proposal aims to prevent placing migrants in large, crowded settings and overcrowded emergency hotels.

Fox News: Tim Scott earns praise after leaving liberal 'View' host 'speechless' with 'undeniable facts'
Tim Scott earns praise after leaving liberal 'View' host 'speechless' with 'undeniable facts'
Sen. Tim Scott received praise for his "phenomenal" response to questions about systemic racism on "The View," reminding the hosts of the success of African Americans in politics. Scott called out comments made by co-hosts about race, stating that it is dangerous to promote the idea that the only way to succeed is by being an exception. Panelists also criticized Joy Behar, who was absent from Monday’s show, for past comments about Scott.

Fox News: Republican presidential debates raise huge Trump question as candidates jockey for nomination
Republican presidential debates raise huge Trump question as candidates jockey for nomination
The Republican National Committee has announced the criteria candidates will have to meet to participate in the first Republican primary debate on August 23. Candidates must poll at a minimum of 1% in three nationwide non-affiliated polls and take donations from at least 40,000 unique supporters, and most are likely to meet these targets. However, candidates will also have to sign a loyalty pledge to support the eventual nominee, an issue that dogged former President Donald Trump in 2016 when he refused to make the commitment. Trump's current lead in the polls may prompt him to skip the debates, but his supporters may see this as a sign of weakness.

Fox News: Scientology spotlight: Danny Masterson, Tom Cruise and Leah Remini illuminate Hollywood church drama
Scientology spotlight: Danny Masterson, Tom Cruise and Leah Remini illuminate Hollywood church drama
Danny Masterson's guilty verdict in his recent rape trial shed light on Scientology and the involvement of its members in Hollywood. Masterson and other celebrities like Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Jenna Elfman follow the controversial religion developed by L. Ron Hubbard. Although no other church members were implicated or charged with criminal conduct in connection to Masterson's rape allegations, the involvement of Scientology in the trial was criticized by the organization, citing a violation of the First Amendment. Leah Remini, a former Scientologist, called the women who survived Masterson's attacks "heroes."

Kirstie Alley, another dedicated Scientologist, credited the church with helping her overcome a cocaine addiction in her 2012 memoir. After the actress's recent death following a short battle with colon cancer, the Church of Scientology released a statement, calling Alley a "beloved member" of the church, a "champion for drug rehabilitation," and a "passionate advocate for human rights." Other celebrities like Jenna Elfman, who has practiced Scientology teachings for decades, also followed the religion's practices in their everyday lives. Bodhi and Jenna Elfman attributed their 28-year marriage to Scientology, saying it helps them keep their communication going.

CNN CEO Chris Licht's big mess: Insiders say he's lost newsroom after Trump town hall, brutal Atlantic story
CNN CEO Chris Licht has been criticized by many for his leadership style since taking over a little over a year ago. An unflattering profile in The Atlantic only cemented negative opinions, showing Licht as increasingly isolated and disliked, while taking scathing shots at CNN's prior coverage of COVID-19. He apologized to staff but insiders say that his apology was not well-received and that he has lost their trust. The appointment of a new COO seems to signal that his stock is falling.

Euromaidan Press: Kakhovka hydropower plant fully destroyed, not restorable – power company
Kakhovka hydropower plant fully destroyed, not restorable – power company
Russia's destruction of the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant in Ukraine has devastated the plant, making it impossible to restore. The water level in the Kakhovka reservoir is dramatically decreasing, and people are being evacuated from potential flood zones. Ukrhydroenergo has warned of the additional threat to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant due to the uncontrolled decrease in the reservoir's level, as the plant relies on the water supply for its turbines and safety systems. The Office of the Prosecutor General has begun an investigation under the article of ecocide due to this catastrophe. The strategic asset of Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station facilitated hydroelectric power generation, irrigation, and navigation. It supplied the Crimean peninsula, including Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, which is Europe's largest. The catastrophe aggravates Ukraine's energy crisis and will potentially ruin the canal system that irrigates much of southern Ukraine, including Crimea. Russia targeted Ukraine's vital infrastructure earlier this year, and the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam is an addendum.
