The report found that 45 of the 184 encounters during Q2 2022 were unconstitutional, with the NST officers being criticized for stopping, frisking, and searching individuals at an unsatisfactory level of compliance. The NST units were launched last year to tackle gun crime, but were criticized for violating the civil rights of minorities. Only two weapons and two contrabands were apprehended out of 230 vehicle stops, leading to the monitor ordering a more comprehensive audit.
