National Review: Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey Backs RFK Jr.’s 2024 Presidential Bid
Twitter founder Jack Dorsey endorses Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s 2024 Democratic primary challenge to President Joe Biden, stating that Kennedy is the best person to beat former president Trump or Florida governor Ron DeSantis. Kennedy filed his candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission in April, and his popularity surged during the Covid pandemic as he criticized America’s medical establishment as tools of authoritarian control. Kennedy’s views on vaccinations often put him at odds with the rest of his family, and his presidential announcement reportedly won him the applause of Steve Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist.
Newsbusters: Jordan Intensifies Stanford Censorship Probe, Threatens Subpoena Enforcement
Congressman Jim Jordan is pressuring Stanford University to comply with a subpoena for documents regarding its Internet Observatory program's censorship of "disfavored speech". This comes after reports revealed that two projects, Election Integrity Partnership and the Virality Project, worked with the federal government to censor certain views as misinformation, including claims of fraud in the 2020 election and questioning the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine. Jordan says SIO knew about and assisted in the censorship and that the university's insufficient compliance could result in the committee using enforcement mechanisms.
According to journalist Michael Shellenberger, the Election Integrity Partnership is the "seed of the censorship industrial complex", creating blacklists of disfavored people and pressuring social media platforms to censor them. The Virality Project also reportedly engaged in censorship about COVID-19 information. Conservatives are calling for Big Tech to be held accountable to the First Amendment. If you have been censored, contact the Media Research Center to help hold Big Tech accountable.
Fox News: Joe Manchin claims Biden is being 'pushed' to 'far-left': Not 'where the country is'
Senator Joe Manchin believes President Joe Biden has been pushed too far left by progressives and that the country needs to "come back to the middle." He cites the No Labels movement, which represents the "commonsense majority" of Americans, and advocates for compromise and consensus in politics. Manchin also spoke about the recent debt deal, calling for a risk evaluation of the country's finances and successfully pushing for the inclusion of the Mountain Valley Pipeline, which he believes will benefit West Virginia's energy production.
Forbes: How Will Industry Be Impacted By EPA’s New Power Plant Proposal?
The EPA has proposed a new power plant rule to cut greenhouse gases, including buying renewables and hydrogen fuels, retiring older plants and capturing and burying CO2. The rule is expected to reduce carbon pollution by 80% by 2040, but has been met with opposition due to its impact on the coal and natural gas industries, which power 60% of US energy. The Supreme Court knocked down Obama's Clean Power Plan that mandated carbon cuts in 2015, stating that EPA only has the power to regulate 'inside the fence', although it has the right to regulate CO2 under the Clean Air Act.
Natural gas is set to remain a significant power generation fuel in the US, with 40% of the electricity portfolio made up of the energy and seen as essential to back up renewable resources. The transition from coal to natural gas has already had an impact on reducing CO2 emissions by hundreds of millions of tons, and CO2 sequestration technology is improving. Producers have reduced methane emissions by 23% since 1990, and EPA incentives to switch to clean fuels and technologies have already led to businesses using 82,000 MW of installed onsite combined heat and power across the US. EPA has the legal right to regulate CO2 under the Clean Air Act but says it has provided compliance flexibility to allow power companies time to adjust.
The New American: Recent Pistol-brace Rulings Against ATF Apply Only to the Plaintiffs - The New American
Temporary restraining orders have been issued against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regarding their "pistol brace" rule, which only applies to specific plaintiffs in each lawsuit. Many lawsuits are pending against the ATF, claiming that the new rule violates both the Second Amendment and the Administrative Procedures Act (APA), and that the agency has overreached its constitutional authority. This battle to win back lost freedoms will take time and will be fought one lawsuit at a time.

Fox News: Missing body recovered from scene of Iowa apartment building collapse, 2 still unaccounted
The body of 42-year-old Branden Colvin Sr. has been found following the partial collapse of an apartment building in Davenport, Iowa. Two other men remain unaccounted for. Search and rescue efforts have ended, with the focus now on shoring up the structure for recovery efforts. Authorities have warned that the building is still in danger of collapsing and have raised questions about why neither the owner nor city officials warned residents about potential danger even after a structural engineer’s report issued just days before the collapse indicated a wall of the century-old building was at imminent risk of crumbling.

The Economist: Ukraine’s counter-offensive appears to have begun
Ukraine has launched a "large-scale" assault on five axes in the south-east of Donetsk province, which marks the beginning of its counter-offensive, according to Western officials. The Ukrainian devices have been successful in the south-west of Donetsk city and there are reports of Ukrainian forces regaining territory in the western and northern suburbs of Bakhmut. If Ukraine intends to reinforce its attacks, it would suggest a slightly more easterly axis of advance and Russia's defences will be stretched, necessitating and potentially creating further gaps in the front.
Spectator USA: Kyiv gears up for its counteroffensive
Russia claims that Ukraine's long-awaited counteroffensive has begun, and that it has not gone well for Kyiv. The unverified Russian claim is that Kyiv launched a “large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the South Donetsk direction,” which was beaten back at the cost of some 250 Ukrainian casualties and the loss of a full sixteen tanks and twenty-four other armored vehicles. If true, this could represent a feint, a probing attack, or the advance guard of a larger offensive. At the same time, there are accounts of fighting at Soledar northeast of the recently-captured city of Bakhmut and Vuhledar, towards the southern Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian drones, rockets, and missiles have targeted occupied Berdyansk and Melitopol as well as the Dzhankoi air base in Crimea. Russian pro-Kyiv volunteers also again crossed the border into the Belgorod region and entered the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka, taking two prisoners of war.

The Federalist Papers: Californians Get More Bad News, Another Major Insurance Company Quits Writing Insurance For Homes and Businesses
Allstate, the fourth largest casualty insurance provider in California, has stopped writing new policies for homeowners, condos, and commercial structures due to the increasing threat of wildfires, soaring construction expenses, and elevated reinsurance premiums. Allstate's decision aims to protect the interests of existing customers as the cost of insuring new homes in California has become exorbitant. State Farm, the state's largest property, and casualty issuer, has also halted new homeowner policies due to wildfires, inflation, and escalating reinsurance costs. The move by Allstate and State Farm reveals that the insurance industry in California is facing deeper challenges than previously thought, with high-risk fire areas likely to encounter difficulties in obtaining coverage.

The Epoch Times: Amid Struggles With Recruitment Woes, Canadian Military's New Hiring Campaign Rated 'Desperate': DND Survey
A survey contracted by the Department of National Defence found that potential CAF job applicants viewed the military's recent recruitment campaign as "desperate" and "off-putting." Respondents had mixed reactions to the "We're Hiring" campaign, with some perceiving it as effective and others finding it intimidating or unclear whether specific education or experience was required. The CAF faces significant challenges with recruiting and retaining members, as a highly competitive job market and extended personal evaluation make promoting the military as a "first-class professional employer" complex and difficult.

American Thinker: Wokery gone wild: Now even the James Beard chef awards are all about political correctness
The James Beard awards have become controversial due to allegations of ethics violations and the foundation's use of private investigators to vet chefs. The focus on personal conduct over culinary excellence risks diminishing the awards' prestige and turning the event into a "creepy" Mao-like struggle session. Critics argue that corporate values and the need for cookie-cutter attitudes detract from the wild innovation that often accompanies culinary excellence. The emphasis on personal behaviour instead of gastronomic expertise calls into question the relevance and credibility of the awards.
