Red State: Gavin Newsom Wants to Charge Ron DeSantis With Kidnapping
Gavin Newsom Wants to Charge Ron DeSantis With Kidnapping
Gavin Newsom accuses Ron DeSantis of kidnapping for facilitating a flight carrying a small group of illegal immigrants to California. Newsom, who has previously been a proponent of California being a sanctuary state, announced a joint investigation with the California DOJ while expressing outrage. However, there is no evidence of coercion or kidnapping, and Newsom's actions are seen as NIMBY virtue signaling. It is fair for sanctuary cities and states to start taking on the burden of illegal immigration policies that they have promoted for years.

Spectator USA: Will Chris Christie stick to his kamikaze mission?
Will Chris Christie stick to his kamikaze mission?
New Jersey governor Chris Christie, former vice president Mike Pence, and North Dakota governor Doug Burgum are set to announce their presidential bids this week, but New Hampshire governor Chris Sununu announced that he will not seek his party's nomination due to there being too many candidates in the race. Sununu emphasized that every candidate needs to understand the responsibility of getting out and getting out quickly if it's not working, to prevent the non-Trump vote from consolidating around one name. However, Christie's unpopularity may harm his own cause, as his favorability among voters who identify with or lean toward the GOP sits at just 21 percent and his unfavorability score is a whopping 47 percent, higher than any presidential candidate polled by Monmouth in the last decade.

The Epoch Times: Biden Draws Bipartisan Ire for Leaving 3 Key Watchdog Jobs Vacant for More Than 2 Years
Biden Draws Bipartisan Ire for Leaving 3 Key Watchdog Jobs Vacant for More Than 2 Years
The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer questions why President Biden has not appointed Inspectors-General at the Treasury department, State department, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), vacancies that have existed for more than 1,100 days, 850 days, and almost 1,500 days, respectively. The absence of Inspectors-General is of bipartisan concern and limits transparency, putting a spotlight on why Biden has not nominated highly qualified candidates to fill these vacancies for three years. Since 1978, 72 presidentially appointed Inspectors-General have exposed trillions of wasted tax dollars and ferreted out waste, fraud, and abuse in federal departments and agencies. Comer is concerned that the prolonged vacancies for positions in the State and USAID departments are occurring at a critical time when they are involved in sensitive matters impacting U.S. national security around the world, including the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and increased aggression by China, Iran, and North Korea.

EXCLUSIVE: Meta Tells MRC Why IG Banned RFK Jr’s Account for 2 Years
Anti-free speech Instagram temporarily suspended the account of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a Democrat presidential primary candidate, admitting it was an error and restoring access following "public outcry." Despite shielding criticism behind the "error" label, Instagram’s actions against Kennedy Jr. are seen as part of Big Tech's recurring election interference. Kennedy Jr. called the censorship of a major presidential candidate "profoundly undemocratic" and asked how democracy can function if only some candidates have access to social media. YouTube’s recent "Context" warning for Kennedy Jr.'s interview with Dr. Jordan Peterson on climate change has drawn criticism from Peterson and highlighted the censorship debate.

The Federalist Papers: Air Force Colonel Denies AI Drone Killed Pilot So It Could Accomplish Its Mission
Air Force Colonel Denies AI Drone Killed Pilot So It Could Accomplish Its Mission
The Air Force officially denies reports of a drone with artificial intelligence "killing" its human operator instead of enemy targets. According to Col. Tucker Hamilton, head of the Air Force's AI Test and Operations, the alleged events were just a "thought experiment." The story had initially surfaced in May when Hamilton warned at the United Kingdom-based Royal Aeronautical Society's summit about the ethical challenges of integrating AI and other emerging technologies into military operations around the world. Hamilton did reiterate that AI is "brittle," meaning it's easy to trick or manipulate, and the technology must be developed to be more robust and have "AI explainability."

Fox News: France's historic Mont-Saint-Michel turns 1,000
France's historic Mont-Saint-Michel turns 1,000
The iconic Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, France, celebrates its millennium anniversary since the laying of its first stone. French President Emmanuel Macron visited the UNESCO World Heritage site and praised its symbolism of "resistance" and "resilience", calling on the French to push themselves further in facing global challenges such as climate change. The millennial celebrations will run until November and include exhibits, dance shows and concerts.

Mont-Saint-Michel, one of France's top tourist attractions outside of Paris, is an architectural jewel on a rocky island linked to the mainland by a narrow causeway at high tide. Historically significant, former presidents have used the site to deliver political messages, including Nicolas Sarkozy who launched his presidential campaign there in 2007. France has spent more than 32 million euros restoring the building and authorities are working to protect the monument's surrounding environment from mass tourism.

16 members of Georgia motorcycle gang indicted for shooting incident in hotel parking lot
Sixteen members of a Georgia motorcycle gang have been indicted on charges stemming from a shooting that injured two people last year in a hotel parking lot. They were charged under Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act for aggravated assault, attempted armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit those crimes. Police say the Outcast members plotted to rob members of a rival gang of their motorcycle vests.

Shots were fired in the parking lot, and two people were injured. Investigators executed more than 40 search warrants across southeast Georgia as part of their investigation and seized $180,000 in cash and 71 guns.

Former MS state senator's plane had autopilot issues in leadup to near-vertical fatal crash
Former Mississippi state senator Johnny Morgan died in a plane crash in Arkansas last month. The National Transportation Safety Board's report stated that the small plane had mechanical problems with its autopilot system before crashing, killing Morgan who was the sole occupant. Morgan had contacted an avionics repair facility to discuss the issues with the autopilot system before the flight, according to the report.

The twin-engine Beech King Air E-90 crashed in a wooded area in northwestern Arkansas an hour after taking off from University-Oxford Airport in Oxford, Mississippi. The report stated that the plane's descent was nearly vertical, with both engines and propellers embedded in the terrain, and the entire airplane was fragmented. The NTSB's investigation into the crash is ongoing.
