The Epoch Times: Out on Private American Patrols in the Smuggler-Blighted Border Badlands of Arizona
Members of the Arizona Border Recon (AZBR) group keep watch on the U.S.-Mexico border, observing migrants and drug smugglers from a distance. Founded by Tim Foley in 2011, the private group has run patrols and cameras along the hundreds of trails and washes that web an area that the group has dubbed Baby's Head Gap. Drug cartels are heavily involved in illegal migrant crossings, showing that they control everything that crosses that Southwest border. While AZBR teams share intelligence and photos with U.S. officials, AZBR members have no authority to arrest the cartel mules operating in the area, only acting as a witness to the disintegrating border.

Breitbart: Texas Investigators Raid Border County Elections Office Over Alleged Ballot Harvesting
Texas authorities raided a Starr county elections office to investigate alleged illegal ballot harvesting during the November local elections. The case is centered around the county judge election where a longtime Democrat won his re-election bid. The complaint was filed by Project Red Texas, which claims politiqueras or poll workers acting on behalf of the winning candidate went to people's homes and filled out mail-in ballots.
The Right Scoop: BREAKING: House Oversight to hold contempt of Congress hearings for Biden’s FBI – [VIDEO]
FBI faces contempt of Congress for not sharing unclassified records in investigation against Biden's alleged corruption. The hearing aims to inform the public of the situation, although it is likely that the DOJ will take no action on the matter.
Red State: James Comer Discusses His Meeting With the FBI, Reveals What's Next for the Biden Bribery Investigation
Rep. James Comer reveals that the FBI confirmed the existence of an FD-1023 form relating to a criminal bribery scheme involving Joe Biden during his tenure as vice president. The confidential informant who provided the information to the FBI is credible and the document has not been disproven. The FBI refused to hand over the document to the House Oversight Committee and Comer plans to initiate contempt of Congress hearings against FBI Director Wray.
Comer confirms the informant's credibility and the ongoing legal investigation into the FD-1023 form. There is skepticism that the claim is used to keep documents out of the hands of Congress. Comer plans to hold FBI Dir. Wray in contempt to obtain the FD-1023 form and to expose Biden's alleged corruption and criminality.
American Thinker: The dangers inherent in a potential RFK, Jr., presidency
Democrats are turning to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) as a possible savior, but it's important to remember that RFK Jr. embraces virulent antisemites, is an anti-vax fanatic, and is a climate change authoritarian. On Sunday, Jack Dorsey, who founded Twitter, endorsed RFK Jr. However, it will be much better for America if RFK Jr. can't and won't. He openly embraces Nation of Islam's Louis Farrakhan and rock musician Roger Waters, who are both virulent antisemites. RFK Jr. didn't oppose the COVID vaccine because of government overreach but hates vaccines in general, which is an ignorant and indiscriminate viewpoint.
Washington Free Beacon: Trump Moves To Disqualify Judge in Manhattan DA’s Prosecution
Trump's lawyers have filed a motion seeking to disqualify New York state judge Juan Merchan from overseeing the criminal case against Trump. They argue that Merchan has a conflict due to his daughter's work at a consulting firm that does work for Democrats. They also note that Merchan encouraged a former Trump Organization executive to cooperate during a prior case. Trump's lawyers asked the judge to explain his political contributions in 2020. Federal records show Merchan donated to the Democratic group ActBlue with the money earmarked for the Biden campaign and two progressive groups.
The Epoch Times: Supreme Court to Decide If Insult Against Trump Can Be Trademarked
The Supreme Court will consider whether progressive activist Steve Elster can trademark "Trump Too Small" for use on T-shirts. The phrase was inspired by Marco Rubio's joke that Trump had "small hands" during the 2016 Republican presidential primary season. Elster's application was initially denied by the US Patent and Trademark Office, which found it contained the name of a living person without their consent, but the Federal Circuit ruled in his favor. The Biden administration is now tasked with defending Trump's interests.
Daily Wire: Trump Attorneys Visit DOJ After Accusing Special Counsel Of Misconduct
Former President Donald Trump's legal team, including James Trusty and Lindsey Halligan, visited the Department of Justice to discuss potential prosecutorial misconduct in the investigation into classified documents confiscated from Mar-a-Lago. Special counsel Jack Smith is reportedly nearing a charging decision on the storage of classified documents and on obstruction of justice. Trump has alleged double standards in the DOJ's treatment of him versus President Joe Biden's classified documents kept at his private office and home.
Smith, who also took over the DOJ investigation into January 6 and Trump's alleged role in the U.S. Capitol riot, was tapped by Attorney General Merrick Garland in November to investigate the storage of classified material at Mar-a-Lago after Trump left the White House in January 2021. The DOJ and National Archives obtained 15 boxes of material from Trump in early 2022, and the FBI confiscated more boxes of material after raiding Trump's resort in August. Trump attacked the special counsel investigation in a post on Truth Social, claiming he has done nothing wrong and alleging interference in the election.
National Review: The Corner: After Moments of Careful Meditation, Jack Dorsey Endorses RFK Jr.
Silicon Valley guru Jack Dorsey endorses Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for the Democratic nomination, possibly due to his outspoken support of cryptocurrency. Kennedy will join a Twitter Space this afternoon, which is not surprising for an outsider facing impossible odds. Biden's age and frailty caused genuine discontent among the Democratic Party's base, though minus a catastrophic event, they won't abandon him in the face of an oncoming Trump. However, Dorsey's endorsement reminds us of the flighty and intellectually unserious nature of prior Twitter management.
The Blaze: Cousin of BLM co-founder who fled police following hit-and-run died from enlarged heart and cocaine use: Coroner's report
Keenan Anderson, cousin of Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, died on January 3 after a confrontation with police involving a taser. His estate sued the City of Los Angeles and its police, claiming $50m in damages for wrongful death and civil rights violations, a suit that was later denied. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later revealed that an enlarged heart and cocaine use caused Anderson's death.
Fox News: Prominent German politician charged with alleged use of Nazi slogan
Far-right figure Björn Höcke of Germany's Alternative for Germany party has been charged for allegedly using a slogan used by the Nazi's SA stormtroopers. Prosecutors claim he used the phrase "Everything for Germany!" knowing its origin, and charged him with public use of an unconstitutional organization symbol. Björn Höcke is a controversial figure who heads up his party's branch in the state of Thuringia, and whose party has been put under formal observation by Germany's domestic intelligence agency. His charges come amid increasing political tensions within Germany, and as support for his party reaches a record high.
National Review: New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu Will Not Run for President: ‘Stakes Are Too High for a Crowded Field’
New Hampshire governor Chris Sununu has chosen not to run in the 2024 presidential primary, arguing that a crowded field will benefit former president Trump, whose nomination would be the worst-case scenario for the Republican Party and the country. Sununu hopes to be influential as an observer of the race and intends to endorse and campaign for the candidate who has the best chance of winning in November. According to Sununu, Trump failed to secure the border and was reckless on spending. He is facing numerous investigations and peddles “the conspiracy theory that he won the 2020 election, repelling independents,” Sununu explained.

The collapse of a portion of an under-construction bridge over the Ganges River in India is under investigation after the structure crashed into the river for the second time in a year. The construction of the 1.9-mile long bridge started in 2014 and cost $208m to build.

National Review: Nikki Haley Has a Point on the Afghanistan Debacle’s Impact on Putin’s Calculus
Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley claims that America's withdrawal from Afghanistan served as a turning point in Putin's decision to invade Ukraine, suggesting America's position of weakness in Afghanistan was revealed to the world. Evidence seems to confirm fears expressed even by critics of the US' foreign policy and the Biden administration; they highlight how Putin's troops were massing on the border well before Western analysts acknowledge Russian preparations were underway. The situation highlights how, despite the US administration's 'realism and restraint,' it isn't immune to putting America and its allies in danger.
The Epoch Times: Kyiv Downplays Russian Claims to Have Foiled Major Offensive in Donetsk
Russian forces claim to have repelled a large-scale Ukrainian offensive in the Donetsk region, causing significant losses to Ukrainian personnel and vehicles. The Ukrainian General Staff did not address the Russian claims, but accused Russia of disseminating false information. While Ukraine claims it is still holding out in Bakhmut, Russian forces have reportedly taken the city's transport hub and have begun handing it over to Russian regular forces. Speculation over a Ukrainian counter-offensive has been mounting for months, but whether the recent incident represents the beginning of that counter-attack remains unclear.
Fox News: Russia claims Ukraine is going on offense, but Kyiv says Moscow staging misinformation campaign
A Russian-installed official claims fighting broke out on Ukraine's eastern border, but Kyiv officials call it a propaganda campaign. The conflict shows no signs of de-escalation, with Russia's true intentions and response to these raids unclear.

National Review: The Corner: Saudi Arabia Welcomes Maduro on State Visit
Saudi Arabia recently welcomed Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro for an official state visit, extending diplomatic support to a U.S. adversary. Though the Saudis gave no official reason for the visit, experts assess it is part of an independent foreign policy strategy in a world of great power competition to shore up regional stability and improve the kingdom’s image. The pivot by Saudi Arabia towards a foreign policy independent of the US is not new, and recent moves to form a joint navy alongside China suggest that the country’s geopolitical affiliations are shifting.
Breitbart: Chinese Defense Minister Threatens to Attack Taiwan 'Without Any Hesitation'
Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu threatened to attack any allies of Taiwan seeking to support the nation’s independence from Beijing, while promoting the Communist Party’s “Global Security Initiative.” Li condemned the US as a force for “hegemony” and “self-serving” clique-forming, and called for the US to no longer maintain a presence in the South China Sea. He also threatened to attack anyone who recognized Taiwan’s sovereignty. Taiwan responded by noting that the date of Li’s speech was the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, and demanded that China “face up to the historical facts" and renounce all forceful or coercive means regarding cross-Strait relations.
Fox News: US sanctions 7 members of Russia-linked group over alleged Moldova 'destabilization operations': Blinken
The US has designated seven members of a Russian intelligence-linked group for "destabilization operations" in Moldova, accusing the Kremlin of covert efforts to disrupt democratic countries via malign influence. The group, a "Russia-connected malign influence group," was accused of attempting to destabilize the government of Moldova via anti-government protests organized by the Sor Party and led by Moldova's pro-Russia Shor Party. The party called for the current Moldovan president, Maia Sandu, to resign and demanded the government stop involving itself in any war. The US has previously found Russian efforts to subvert Moldova's government and the Treasury previously sanctioned three Russian individuals for allegedly trying to influence election outcomes there in October.

The Blaze: Mark Wahlberg lobbies to bring 'Hollywood 2.0' to Las Vegas
Mark Wahlberg is lobbying legislators in Carson City, Nevada, to pass a bill that would increase tax credits for film and television production in Las Vegas from $10 million to $190 million over 20 years. Wahlberg argues that this would help diversify the Nevadan economy by making it less reliant on the gaming industry, which took a considerable hit during the government shutdown of 2020, as well as create "thousands and thousands of new jobs," mostly for locals. The Boston native and former Californian expat recently moved his family to Las Vegas and brought some of his industry colleagues with him to create "Hollywood 2.0" in his new hometown.
American Thinker: No, Africa has not rejected the West
The West is losing its influence over developing countries due to a growing disconnect between Western values and the needs of those countries, including critical issues like food and energy production, as well as economic growth. Western countries expect the rest of the world to implement green-energy requirements through various mechanisms and channels while ignoring the fact that climate change is not considered a pressing issue by Africans. The greenie agenda foisted onto the developing world by Western elites is directly responsible for this trend, as is the disdainful view of traditional values that has taken hold in the Western world.
Fox News: FTC deleted documents on controversial rule with 'severe consequences' to economy: Rep Jim Jordan
The House Judiciary Committee is calling out the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for deleting key documents related to the agency's noncompete rule for workers. The committee, led by Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, claims that the FTC's proposed rule exceeds its delegated authority and violates basic American principles of federalism and free markets. Jordan alleged that the FTC’s document production to date has included little more than non-substantive calendar invites and material already publicly available. Jordan sought documents related to litigation risks due to the rulemaking, economic analysis related to the rulemaking, and communications between the FTC and third parties about the rulemaking.
Fox News: Allstate stops offering new home insurance in California due to wildfires, higher costs for home repair
Allstate has joined State Farm in pausing new home insurance policies in California due to wildfires and high costs of doing business. Both companies will continue to provide coverage for current customers. Allstate cited California's Prop 103, which requires the state's Department of Insurance to approve rate adjustments, as a factor in the decision. The move follows similar policy changes by GEICO last year and State Farm last week.
The Blaze: Debt ceiling increase totaling $4 TRILLION
Mark Levin mocks Jake Tapper's "looming fiscal catastrophe" remark on the debt ceiling increase, calling the media "pathetic." Tapper explains that it's a compromise, but Levin jokes that the CNN audience must have a low IQ. PJ Media: Vivek Ramaswamy Wouldn’t Implement Transgender Military Ban
Vivek Ramaswamy opposes banning transgender individuals from serving in the military, but does not support "foisting" transgender ideology onto children. He believes that transgenderism is primarily a mental health disorder, and only supports a limited ban on transgender individuals serving in combat roles due to the risk it poses. Ramaswamy argues that transgender individuals can serve in administrative roles in the military. However, some criticize his stance because transgenderism is considered a mental disorder and may present a risk to national security.

Gataway Couple: You Can Now Buy This Luxury Rotating RV
The Romotow trailer, designed by a New Zealand architectural firm, features a unique design with a main living space that can rotate 90 degrees to reveal a covered deck space. The 290 square feet of living space, LED lighting, and energy-efficient features, including lithium batteries and solar panels, make it a great option for luxury RV enthusiasts, but the $230,000+ price tag, lack of air conditioning, limited compatibility with many campsites, and uncertain delivery date may turn off some buyers.
While the Romotow trailer's unique design and luxury features make it stand out from other RVs on the market, its high cost, lack of air conditioning, and compatibility with limited campsites may not make it a practical choice for all buyers. Additionally, finding maintenance and repair services for this new type of trailer may be difficult and expensive. Despite this, those looking for a futuristic-looking RV with plenty of amenities may find the Romotow worth the investment.
On The Water: 10 Reasons You Haven't Caught a 10-Pound Doormat Fluke
Fishing for big summer flounder, or "doormats," requires large bait, big hooks, deep water, and the right technique. Use large baits like full-size bunker or keeper porgies, and dress up your fluke rigs with beads, spinner blades, squid squirts, and even giant spoons to make the bait appear larger and add fluke-attracting elements. Use large, heavy-duty hooks like a 7/0 or 8/0 octopus-style or baitholder hook, and resist the temptation to overload the hooks. Fish in deeper waters, around 80 feet or more, to target big fluke in areas with less fishing pressure and more favorite fluke foods like sand eels and squid. Keep a steady pressure on the fish and maintain tension on the line through a big fluke's ferocious headshakes. Consider releasing summer flounder that are just shy of doormat status to protect the fishery for future seasons.

The American Spectator: Is the Earth Cooling Itself?
A new Wall Street Journal column argues that a negative feedback loop may cause the earth's atmosphere to self-regulate temperature, despite greenhouse gas emissions. Atmospheric physicist Richard Lindzen proposed this theory, called the Iris Effect, in 2001. Lindzen contends that the reduction of cirrus clouds in the tropics due to rising temperatures allows more radiation to escape from Earth's atmosphere, lowering temperatures to offset the effects of greenhouse gases, which he claims more than offsets their effects. These findings could offer a solution to reduce the impact of climate change without drastic governmental mandates.

Verra tracks carbon emissions and certifies them, the data of which is used by multinationals and governments to prove they are reducing emissions to prevent global warming. Critics claim the firm is using offensive metrics to qualify for carbon credits. The whole idea of carbon offsets is under scrutiny from eco-activists who say the scheme is nothing but a PR stunt, which does not resolve carbon emissions.
