American Thinker: The bog of bureaucracy
The bog of bureaucracy
Former Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt highlights the failures of the U.S. bureaucracy, including the delegation of too much decision-making power and a lack of accountability. Bernhardt also notes the differences between the bureaucratic approach of the George W. Bush administration and the direct approach of the Trump administration. He emphasizes the need for political leaders to restore control of administrative agencies.

A consultant in the Trump administration reports that David Bernhardt refused to cooperate with a "red team" review approach to Interior Department science and policy actions. Bernhardt's refusal highlights the problem of bureaucracies being controlled by supposedly independent advisory councils and boards that are beholden to the agency. A red team approach is intended to produce well-informed and effective policy-making, but the authoritarian nature of the administrative state often disregards or blocks objective scientific inquiry.

Foreign Policy: Is Netflix’s ‘The Diplomat’ Factual or Farcical?
Is Netflix’s ‘The Diplomat’ Factual or Farcical?
"The Diplomat" is a new Netflix show that lacks a serious discussion of foreign policy. However, it manages to reflect real and recent events that have taken place between the West and Iran. British characters are great and true to life in some cases, although the plan to bomb Libya makes no sense. The show is fairly spot on about the way Iran and the United States have used back channels to defuse tensions.

American Thinker: Start spreading the news, we're leaving today — leaving New York, that is
Start spreading the news, we're leaving today — leaving New York, that is
New York State is losing its highest-earning taxpayers causing state personal income tax receipts to fall below pre-pandemic levels. New York's share of national tax returns with incomes over $1 million declined in the last decade, with 1,973 millionaire-earner filers exiting the state in 2020 and 1,453 in 2021. Crime and security factors have contributed to the city losing over 100,000 college-educated residents in 2021 alone. This flight of affluent taxpayers should ring alarm bells, forcing public leaders to confront the hard reality that New York has become a less attractive place to live.

The Army gave this officer a false criminal record, stunting his career. Now he’s getting backpay
Years after an Army investigation falsely accused soldiers of criminal activity and negatively impacted their careers, Major Gilberto De Leon has finally received his promotion. De Leon was originally among close to 2,000 soldiers who were falsely accused of criminal activity due to their participation in a National Guard recruitment program. The false records affected their lives and careers negatively as the records prevented them from being promoted and made it difficult to obtain jobs and licenses.
