Newsbusters: Psaki Frets Media Giving Credit to Hostage Taking GOP in Debt Deal
Former White House press secretary turned MSNBC host Jen Psaki criticized the media for giving credit to congressional Republicans for working out an agreement with President Joe Biden to raise the debt ceiling. In her analogy, she said that if someone took hostages, the negotiator who worked with the hostage taker shouldn't be celebrated for finding common ground. Psaki claimed that the deal to raise the debt limit isn't a sign of Washington D.C. working because it doesn't address the issue of federal spending. She also criticized NBC's Chuck Todd for mentioning a change in IRS funding that Speaker McCarthy sought, which would result in less money going after tax cheats.
