Breitbart: GOP Candidates Descend on 'First in the Nation' Iowa for Ernst's Roast and Ride
GOP Candidates Descend on 'First in the Nation' Iowa for Ernst's Roast and Ride
Eight Republican presidential candidates, including former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, attended Senator Joni Ernst's annual Roast and Ride event in Iowa, which saw a motorcycle rally to the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Ernst, who rides a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, said, "We all know that the road to 2024, it runs through Iowa", referring to the importance of Iowa as the first state to vote in the presidential primary. While Democrats have "ditched Iowa", Ernst believes Iowa will remain "first in the nation" for Republicans. The event enabled attendees to listen to each candidate's ten-minute speech and compare their records.

Federal Court Reinstates Death Penalty Order for Missouri Inmate Convicted of Killing Jailers
Federal appeals court vacates stay of execution for Missouri inmate Michael Tisius, convicted of killing two jailers in 2000 during a failed escape attempt. Judge had ordered evidentiary hearing after Tisius’ attorneys argued that a juror in his 2010 resentencing was illiterate, which is not allowed under state law. Tisius’ defense team issued a video earlier this week in which his accomplice Roy Vance said he planned the escape attempt and manipulated Tisius into participating. Keith O’Connor, an attorney for Tisius, said his team will appeal the decision.
