Rain in Spain interrupted the livestream of European Space Agency's (ESA) Mars Express on Friday, which broadcast images from the red planet courtesy of a European spacecraft. It took almost 17 minutes for the pictures to reach Earth, nearly 200 million miles away, and another minute to pass through the ground stations. The livestream lasted one hour and showed about one-third of Mars, with moving clouds visible in some of the shots. The agency noted that near real-time footage from so far away is “rather rare”.
