PJ Media: With Cities Running Out of Room to House Them, Biden Increases the Number of Asylum-seekers Allowed Into the U.S.
With Cities Running Out of Room to House Them, Biden Increases the Number of Asylum-seekers Allowed Into the U.S.
The Biden Administration is using a phone app called CBP One to allow up to 1,250 asylum seekers and illegal aliens to enter the country daily, avoiding vetting procedures. The Border Patrol is conducting a daily average of 1,000 asylum interviews, aiming to reach 1,250, while the administration is also allowing up to 30,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to apply for asylum and enter the US with sponsors. The influx of illegals is causing problems in cities such as New York and Chicago, where Mayor Eric Adams has been pleading with Biden for help, and lawsuits have been filed by Texas and over a dozen other Republican-led states who argue that the move substitutes illegal migration for legal migration.

Despite being told by federal courts, including the Supreme Court, that only Congress can change immigration laws, Biden is continuing to try to circumvent the law. This is pleasing open borders advocates, but causing issues for citizens and mayors dealing with the influx of illegal immigrants. The move has prompted lawsuits and accusations of substituting legal migration for illegal migration, with Texas and over a dozen other Republican-led states filing suits against the administration.

Exclusive -- Joni Ernst: Roast & Ride Fundraiser Is 2023 Primary 'Kickoff'
Sen. Joni Ernst's Roast and Ride fundraiser is the Republican primary "kickoff", attracting eight GOP presidential hopefuls who will speak at the event. Ernst stressed the importance of Iowa to the elections, stating the road to 2024 runs right through the state. Iowa voters want to know if presidential candidates are right for middle America as well as for coastal elites. Ernst listed issues at the forefront of this election cycle, including inflation, trade, leftist green ideology and the southern border. As Democrats have no first-in-the-nation caucus in Iowa, their candidates will not have to answer hard questions in middle America.

Budget Battle Royale: NV Gov. Lombardo's Veto Count Keeps Climbing
Nevada's Republican Governor Joe Lombardo has vetoed 24 pieces of legislation, including proposals to raise the age to possess rifles, regulate "ghost guns," and revoke firearm rights from individuals who have committed hate crimes. Lombardo has faced criticism from Democrats, who highlighted his intent to break the all-time vetoing record, held by former Republican Governor Jim Gibbons. The legislature must address the Governor's veto of a significant budget bill to have a chance of passing a budget before the June 5th end of the session; if they fail, a special session will be necessary.

Elon Musk Says Target Will Face Shareholder Lawsuits Amid Pro-LGBT Controversy
Conservative backlash over Target's decision to sell LGBT-themed items and clothing has caused its stock to drop by double digits, resulting in JPMorgan downgrading Target's stock. The Wall Street bank cited concerns with the retailer giant that could result in negative traffic after an impressive run of 12 consecutive positive quarters. Twitter CEO Elon Musk predicts that Target will face lawsuits for "destruction of shareholder value," while conservative activist Charlie Kirk suggests that shareholders should get politics out of modern corporations in response to Target's downgrade. Several other companies, including PetSmart, Chick-fil-A, and Walmart, are also facing boycott calls due to their endorsement of the LGBT agenda.

Christian Actor Mark Wahlberg to Create 'Hollywood 2.0', Announces Location of New Studio
Actor Mark Wahlberg is advocating Nevada's potential as a new Hollywood and supports tax credits to increase the state's film production. Wahlberg has already moved his last film and upcoming projects to Nevada. He has urged Nevada lawmakers to raise tax credits from $10m a year to $190m a year for the next 20 years. The move would secure 10k jobs within the studio, for a total of $100k per annum, and train people in front of and behind the camera. Although the bill for tax credits has price controversy, Wahlberg wants to expand Nevada’s economy, moving into a variety of markets, including starting a shoe and apparel factory.

Forbes: National Cognac Day Is June 4 - What Exactly IS This Versatile Spirit?
National Cognac Day Is June 4 - What Exactly IS This Versatile Spirit?
Cognac is a popular spirit gaining more attention, even in the US, where it's being favored by American rappers. A new four-episode Amazon Prime series, "The Three Drinkers in Cognac", showcases the drink with a cultural and gastronomic tour of the French Cognac region, including the House of Rémy Martin. Cognac is a spirit made from Ugni Blanc grapes and is the second largest wine producer in France, producing VS, VSOP, XO, and XXO-blended eaux-de-vies. Many famous Cognac distillers have made their mark, including Rémy Martin, Merlet Cognac, Delamain, Hennessy, and Maison Courvoisier.

Different designations of Cognac indicate age, ranging from the youngest VS to the oldest XXO being aged at least 14 years. VS and VSOP blends can be used in cocktails, such as the French 75 and brandy Alexander, while XO is best savored on its own. The floral house-style of Courvoisier's Cognac blends sets it apart from others in the market. Maison Courvoisier's signature cocktail, Gala, is refreshing and perfect for any occasion with its floral notes and summer-like flavors, while Hardy Legend pairs perfectly with Peking duck.

Cigar Smoked By Winston Churchill During World War II To Be Auctioned Off
A cigar once smoked by Winston Churchill is to be auctioned along with a handwritten note and storage jar. It has been kept by the Stonehewer-Bird family for over 75 years and is expected to sell for between $750 to $1,120.

Churchill was a great cigar lover, with estimates suggesting he smoked between eight and 10 every day. Cigars by the former British prime minister have previously performed well at auction, with one selling in March for over $26,000. Cigars with Churchill's name were given to him by a New York businessman and sold for nearly $20,000 in 2020.

Texas outlaws transgender surgeries, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones for children
Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill banning transgender surgeries and medical interventions for children. The law prohibits procedures meant for gender transitioning or reassignment, as well as the use of public money for such procedures. Exceptions apply to children who began non-surgical interventions before June 1 and those who attended counseling sessions prior to receiving prescriptions. The American Civil Liberties Union objected to the law, calling gender reassignment medically necessary and promising to file a lawsuit to protect transgender youth.

The Epoch Times: Immigration, Population Growth: Nuances Amid Hyper-Polarization
Immigration, Population Growth: Nuances Amid Hyper-Polarization
Immigration is a divisive issue that has two distinct sides: those who advocate for mass immigration and those who are alarmed at the number of immigrants flooding into their country. The correlation between these sides and the left and right of the political spectrum is weak, rendering politicization of the issue unhelpful. Nuances exist to the discussion, but the sides of the issue have no tolerance for the opposing team or dissent within their group.

Population decline affects overall GDP and a nation’s economic power, and immigration of productive people could aid the economy; however, adding people who are less productive than the existing population is a net negative for the economy. Good policy aids the economy, and remedies include incentivizing the intelligent and productive young people with family and civil values to have more children. The way forward is simple, but courage is needed.
