Breitbart: Exclusive – Nikki Haley: Voters See Through Media's 'Two-Person Race' Narrative
Exclusive – Nikki Haley: Voters See Through Media's 'Two-Person Race' Narrative
Nikki Haley accuses media of pushing for a two-person race between Trump and DeSantis in the Republican primaries. She believes the American people are smarter than that and is confident that they want someone who can win a general election. Haley argues she has a strong resume, having been a two-term governor and ambassador to the United Nations. Many Iowans are considering voting for her, and she is set to take part in a CNN town hall event on Sunday.

Spectator USA: China’s comic crackdown
China’s comic crackdown
China's fledgling stand-up comedy scene is finding out the hard way that poking fun at the "grim-faced old men" who run the country is a dangerous game. A young comedian, Li Haoshi, who mocked a military slogan coined by President Xi Jinping was told he had no right to "wantonly slander the glorious image of the People’s Liberation Army." Li's performances have been suspended indefinitely, his earnings have been seized, and he is being investigated using a law that makes it illegal to “insult” the PLA. The criminalization of his joke is the most serious setback yet for China’s stand-up scene and could prove terminal.

Although clubs and performers are required to obtain licenses and have their material approved in advance, comics have had run-ins with the authorities before and been criticised for "inappropriate" or "vulgar" jokes and several have seemingly disappeared from public view. China's tolerance for dissent is limited, to say the least. The CCP is not known for humour or its tolerance of dissent. Comics are expected to promote “social morality” and to “love the motherland and support the CCP’s line and policies.”  Xi Jinping is exceptionally humorless, even by the standards of recent Chinese leaders. Like Mao Zedong before him, Xi believes that art is an instrument of politics, and that entertainers should be role models spouting bland CCP homilies. Xi’s broader and intensifying indoctrination drive means the CCP must "unify its thinking, unify its will and unify its actions." Li is learning the hard way that the CCP won’t stand for humor and ridicule, and his career is almost certainly over, and he could face years in prison.
