The American Spectator: Highlighting the World’s Worst Religious Persecutors
The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has released its annual report, focusing on “Countries of Particular Concern” (CPCs) where religious freedom is most severely violated. The report recommends 17 CPCs be sanctioned accordingly, including China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and North Korea. The State Department will decide their final disposition, but some countries were left off last year's list due to geopolitical reasons. Under the Biden administration, the Special Watch List includes 11 countries: Algeria, Azerbaijan, Central African Republic, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Uzbekistan where religious persecution is not as complete as in CPCs, but is rated severe.
