Schooled in the Miranda-era doctrine of the First Amendment (“chilled speech is an unconstitutional infringement of the freedom of speech,” etc.), this seemed quite loopy to us. We had not disrupted any educational or student activity, or interfered with anyone’s comings and goings, despite the University’s attempt to silence us. Nonetheless, as we walked in silence, the Yale University police sought vigorously among the students, faculty, families, and children present on the town green, to find anyone who might have been in communication with us. Yes, actual communications fascists. They interviewed one person they found, said they’d call me if they had more questions and then we dispersed. How fragile are these spaces that should represent our best thinking, our best ethics, our best hopes! If students wish to refuse masks, injections, or any medical procedure, should they not be able to read our informational pamphlets or talk to us about our knowledge and concerns? But, irony of ironies, the UK press release included a photo of our group and a forced admission, clearly drawn from some document or from an interview, from a retired physician, that our informational handout advising people not to take any kind of medical procedure, was actually a WORD “medic” product. The physician’s spurious claim that our informational handouts were a copyrighted “medical” product seemed like the vainest of pretenses; an avowal on behalf of the university’s medical authorities, that nothing at all should be taught to patients or consumers or conference audiences or fellow citizens, about the basic, informed concerns one ought to have about any risky injectable medical treatment handed down by authorities. It is crucial I believe, that a paranoid prohibition of free speech, this conjunction of university-authoritarian diktat and medical authoritarian compliances, approaches relentlessly skywards to stamp out all organic, grass-roots, first-hand, patient-to-patient communication. Why would tens of thousands of voices like ours and like Dr Haim’s be emerging, all at once, demanding to be heard outside the consensus? Apparently, when information, as in the case of COVID-managed-treatment and in the case of gender affirming care, is kept from those it could help or in some way be crucial to, those people will square off against each other, demanding to be allowed to speak, and to speak, against authority. But it is hard to speak, these days in the United States or the UK, in the Western democracies, against the foreign of tech-media powers-that-be, who police the ideological permissions around them. It was especially poignant to read scripts for this era at Yale, where there are so many world-class doctors and scientists, where so many venal ignoramuses or physician-ideologues are leveraging an establishment-heavy gift economy, for themselves. Dr Haim and I — and the millennial awakened doctors and whistleblowers joining us — described huge medical and psychological industries, accepting enormous government grants, and shadowy pharmaceutical deals which drive uglier-than-political-lobbying, more insidious-than-ALEC legislation, and more terroristic legislative coercion. It was scored by constant high-seas-worth scheming, a sort of medical and scientific piracy upon the patients, families, and subjects we were supposed to be helping and protecting. Dr Haim described a sort of mutual sensory-deprivation vs murderous apathy, even traumatic slavery to the enabler-doctoring, and collective self-censorship among physicians, and a matching forced-march of the heart towards shock-indoctrinated catastrophists among the sicker, at-risk populations and patients. Dr Haim is a model for many of them, a peer helper and heel-tester for the profession. He said the other day, that a practice almost completely without oversight for decades might not seem like it, on any daily basis, to be constantly coercing and strengthening many in the power class, who have been leveraging it in secret, but do need to seem like it to the world. All the censors and brainwashers and oppressors know perfectly well that they must oppose any effective, meaningful whistleblowing as furiously as they can.
