Fox News: Sen. Kennedy calls out intelligence failures before January 6th: 'Start telling the truth'
Sen. Kennedy calls out intelligence failures before January 6th: 'Start telling the truth'
Sen. John Kennedy criticized the House's prior investigation of January 6th as a "partisan car wreck" and called for a nonpartisan inquiry. He highlighted the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee's report on the FBI and Department of Homeland Security downplaying or ignoring "a massive amount of intelligence information" ahead of the Capitol riot. Kennedy expressed frustration with the politicization of the issue and the lack of transparency from government institutions.

According to a new report by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security failed to recognize and warn of the potential for violence ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S Capitol. The report highlights several overlooked intelligence sources, including a tip to the FBI in December 2020 that members of the far-right extremist group Proud Boys planned to "literally kill people" in Washington, D.C. during the certification of Joe Biden's victory. The agencies were also aware of social media posts calling for violence and a riot at the Capitol.

Fox News: Did you know federal intelligence agencies could be buying data about you?
Did you know federal intelligence agencies could be buying data about you?
Government intelligence agencies have been buying personal data from private companies to track "threat actors," raising concerns for the privacy and safety of ordinary citizens. The data can expose highly sensitive and personal details about individuals, including personal attributes, private behavior, social connections, and speech, and may be misused to pry into private lives, ruin reputations, and threaten the safety of individuals. There are no laws preventing a governmental intelligence agency from obtaining commercially available information (CAI) from private companies, and private companies face few regulations when compiling, selling, and buying personal data. The report calls attention to the need for digital privacy protections for US citizens and stricter regulations on private companies.

Texas rep introduces bill to bar federal bailouts of states that implement reparations
Texas GOP Congressman Brian Babin has introduced the No Bailouts for Reparations Act, which seeks to block federal bailouts to any states or municipalities that implement reparations programs aimed at compensating the descendants of slavery. Babin’s bill, which is backed by 13 of his GOP colleagues, would prevent any government entities enacting reparation laws based on race, ethnicity, national origin or slavery from receiving federal bailouts. The bill comes as reparations are being discussed in several states and cities, and various task forces set up to investigate past wrongs, including illegal seizures and the use of prison labor.

KJP Parrots Nonsense: 'Americans Feel Better' About Their Finances' Because of Biden's Policies
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre peddles bilge about Biden's policies to the hostile White House press corps, claiming that "Americans feel better about their personal finances." However, numerous representatives rebuke her claims on rising inflation and prices. Additionally, when asked about Hunter Biden's attendance at the White House State Dinner, KJP claims that Biden's administration is "incredibly transparent" concerning ethics without acknowledging the mounting pile of evidence implicating Biden's direct involvement in his son's scandals.

Navy SEAL Veteran Tim Sheehy Launches Senate Bid in Battleground Montana
Republican Tim Sheehy, a retired Navy SEAL and CEO of Bridger Aerospace, announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate in Montana, challenging incumbent Sen. Jon Tester. Sheehy emphasized his commitment to job creation, particularly for veterans and college students, and criticized Tester for prioritizing President Joe Biden’s “woke agenda” over national security interests. Montana presents a top GOP pickup opportunity, according to a February poll. Sheehy is the lone Republican in the race, but Rep. Matt Rosendale is considering a rematch against Tester.

Foreign Policy: U.S. Prepares New Sanctions on Wagner Group
U.S. Prepares New Sanctions on Wagner Group
The Biden administration is preparing to impose new sanctions on Russia's Wagner Group due to the group's activities in Africa, which include gold smuggling and working with corrupt regimes. The sanctions are expected to focus on the group's activities in the Central African Republic (CAR) and will provide guidance for regulatory bodies on how the group carries out its gold-smuggling operations. The move shows that the US is looking to weaken the Wagner Group's international operations despite its collapsing influence in Russia. Various human rights watchdogs and UN investigators have implicated the group's fighters in possible war crimes and crimes against humanity, including massacres of civilians.

Israeli PM Netanyahu has announced that he has received an invitation for an official visit to China, but did not disclose when it would take place. Israel and China have close economic ties, but Israel's diplomatic and security relationships with the US have prevented closer collaboration with China.

Spectator USA: Putin is losing touch with reality
Putin is losing touch with reality
Putin's address to the nation after the Wagner rebellion was an unconvincing condemnation of everything generally and nothing specifically, including the chaos of the 1990s and Russia's bloody 20th century civil wars designed to invoke fear of the possible aftermath of his resignation. Putin's efforts to blame Wagner and "the West" ignore the reality that insurgents' complaints about the war's failures appeal to many ordinary people and the failed prosecution of the war on Ukraine.

The consequences of what is currently happening in Russia remain vague, and the absence of popular support for the state during the rebellion only highlights Putin's isolation and heavy reliance on his long-standing trump card, that of stability brought to Russia after a time of turbulence.

KJP claims Americans 'feel better' about their finances thanks to Biden — then pesky facts get in the way

Her response has been widely criticized and ridiculed on social media by lawmakers and the public alike. Metrics such as high inflation, increasing debt, and foreclosures suggest that the economy is not in a good shape, and approval of Biden's job on the economy is low.

The Federalist: Win Against Covid Vaccine Mandate Heralds Future Reversals
Win Against Covid Vaccine Mandate Heralds Future Reversals
A California court revived a case brought by Los Angeles firefighters who are challenging the City's Covid-19 vaccine mandate, reversing a lower court's ruling. The appellate court criticized the lower-court judge's efforts to circumvent California's pleading rules and took issue with the judge's claim that Covid shots are "safe and effective," as the government documents demonstrate that there are known side effects and potentially serious safety issues. The opinion provides a roadmap for people to challenge Covid mandates in California and clarifies that state and federal law are not identical, with differences that can be dispositive in a tough case like this one.

Fox News: Missouri woman gets new murder hearing after claims of drug-addled statement, possible officer involvement
Missouri woman gets new murder hearing after claims of drug-addled statement, possible officer involvement
The Missouri Attorney General's Office set an evidentiary hearing for Sandra Hemme, who was convicted of murder in 1985 after police allegedly coerced her into making false statements while in a hospital receiving sedative drugs. Hemme's lawyers with The Innocence Project filed a petition for reviewing the validity of her conviction in Livingston County, alleging that there is evidence to prove her innocence. Hemme was a psychiatric patient since age 12 and received treatment at St. Joseph’s State Hospital for various health conditions.

Her lawyers argued that police used coercive language during visits, prompting her to make false statements that eventually led to the murder conviction. Hemme's DNA was not connected to any hair or fingerprints found at the crime scene, while evidence instead points to Michael Holman, a former St. Joseph police officer, whose white pickup truck was seen around the scene on the day of the murder. Her case highlights police coercion of suspects into making false statements, which is not unique and supports the need for evidentiary hearing and reviewing the validity of Hemme's conviction.

Luis Robert Jr. homered for the third straight game for the White Sox, but the team only managed to get one runner into scoring position. In the end, the Angels came out on top with their second walk-off win on a wild pitch this season.

TikTok Lawyer Says Journalists Are Part Of ‘Anti-TikTok Disinformation’ Campaign
A confidential memo from a top TikTok lawyer urges the company to fight the "relentless onslaught of false and misleading narratives" about TikTok that the counsel claims are being pushed, in part, by journalists. The lawyer warns employees that the media is part of a disinformation war being waged against the company. TikTok spokesperson Alex Haurek said that "like most companies, we have teams that regularly evaluate threats to the business, and it's common for documents to be created and shared without implementation or leading to formal policies".
