American Thinker: Bombshell revelation: Hunter paid for secret $300/month ‘global phone’ used by VP Biden while in office
Bombshell revelation: Hunter paid for secret $300/month ‘global phone’ used by VP Biden while in office
Peter Schweizer reveals that Hunter Biden paid for a private AT&T phone line that Joe Biden used while he was vice president, costing $300 a month and allowing access to people anywhere around the world. The information has been shared with the House Oversight Committee in hopes of subpoenaing records to see how close communication was between Joe Biden and his son's business partners. It raises concerns about whether important secrets were compromised and whether this phone was equipped with the scrambling devices normally employed to protect secret conversations of US officials, especially when dealing with overseas parties.

Emails Suggest Weiss Misled Congress By Claiming Charging Authority
Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss has been granted ultimate authority over the Hunter Biden criminal investigation but directly conflicts with what he told senior members of the team investigating the Biden son. In October 2022, Weiss stated that he was not the deciding official on whether charges are filed, and that he was denied special counsel authority by Main DOJ when he requested it. This contradicts Attorney General Merrick Garland's testimony that Weiss had "full authority" to charge Hunter Biden, indicating that either Weiss lied to his top investigators or Weiss and Garland deceived Congress.

Fox News: Pro-DeSantis super PAC rails against 'woke' ideology in new ad: 'Existential threat to our society'
Pro-DeSantis super PAC rails against 'woke' ideology in new ad: 'Existential threat to our society'
The super PAC supporting Ron DeSantis' 2024 presidential bid releases a new ad titled "War on Woke," praising DeSantis' stance against "woke" ideology and highlighting his support for protecting children and banning men from competing in women's sports. The ad will air in Iowa and South Carolina as part of a seven-figure ad buy.

Former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines, who has spoken out against trans women competing in women's sports, makes a cameo in the ad. This is the sixth ad from the "Never Back Down" group, which supports DeSantis' presidential ambitions. As governor, DeSantis has proclaimed Florida as the place where "woke goes to die" and vows to continue his firm stance in the culture war as president.

The Federalist: TikTok Porn Mom Shows Preeminence Of The Culture War
TikTok Porn Mom Shows Preeminence Of The Culture War
A TikTok featuring a young woman preparing dinner for her family went viral, but her page also includes posts promoting abortion, drug use during pregnancy, and prostitution. The woman's lifestyle reflects the pervasive cultural and economic incentives in the West that prioritize materialist pursuits over civic virtue and human decency, reinforced by the collapse of American civil society, economic displacement, and the adoption of social media. The institutions upholding objectively correct values are increasingly at odds with the disorder cultivated by universities, bureaucracy, and HR departments, while small-town communities may reassert themselves if there is a sustained resurgence in social conservatism and domestic industrial manufacturing.

A ‘Tribe’ of Freedom Fighters
The Oslo Freedom Forum, created by Human Rights Foundation founder Thor Halvorssen, celebrates its 15th year in existence, offering a space for human-rights activists to gather, share stories, and offer support for one another. Speakers come from all over the world and from across political and social backgrounds. While some participants have been imprisoned for decades, the forum brings them together, working toward a common goal of freedom. Speakers come from regimes across the political spectrum, speaking truth to power regardless of their own preferences. The Havel Prize is given at the Oslo Freedom Forum for those who have put their lives on the line for freedom and human rights, regardless of their political orientation.

The Corner: ‘Queering Nuclear Weapons’
Louis Reitmann and Sneha Nair advocate against the "queering of nuclear weapons" policy. Reitmann and Nair argue that exclusion of queer individuals and other minorities create vulnerability in nuclear decision-making. The piece suggests that "heteronormative" practices in nuclear engineering may create difficulties for women and minorities.

The Epoch Times: Ireland will pay up to $92,000 for people to live on its remote, idyllic off-shore islands
Ireland will pay up to $92,000 for people to live on its remote, idyllic off-shore islands
Ireland hopes to revitalize its remote islands and attract permanent residents with its "Our Living Islands" 10-year policy. The policy includes a three-year action plan to improve infrastructure and introduce high-speed broadband for remote working. The government is offering cash grants of up to $92,000 to anyone who buys property on the islands after July 1, but the property must have been built before 1993 and been vacant for two years. The islands are cut off daily by shifting tides and remain unconnected to the mainland.

Fox News: US Department of Transportation awards nearly $1.7 billion for buying electric, low-emission buses
US Department of Transportation awards nearly $1.7 billion for buying electric, low-emission buses
The US Department of Transportation is awarding almost $1.7 billion in grants for zero- and low-emission buses. Funding comes from the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure bill, and the grants will allow transit agencies in 46 states and territories to buy 1,700 US-built buses. Almost half will have zero carbon emissions, enabling public transit to improve air quality and contain the damage from climate change.

The buses will provide easier maintenance and will improve public health, with diesel emissions no longer entering the air. $33.5m is going to the Seattle area, $104m is being used by the Washington, D.C. transit authority to transform a garage into an electric facility and acquire 100 electric battery buses. The grants demonstrate the high demand for the funding with the government having received 475 project proposals for the grants, totalling $8.7 billion.

Forbes: The Foreman Mills Tragedy
The Foreman Mills Tragedy
Foreman Mills, a retail chain with 44 stores from New Jersey to Wisconsin, laid off 100 corporate employees and is likely to declare bankruptcy. The company started in 1977 as a flea market operation and expanded to become a chain of "big box" warehouses. Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notices have been filed in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, and stores in Wisconsin are likely to close permanently on August 4, 2023. Rising inflation has dampened consumer spending and may be affecting other small companies as well.

Liberty Nation: Affordable and Environmentally Friendly? Not Electric Vehicles
Affordable and Environmentally Friendly? Not Electric Vehicles
Lawmakers discussed efforts to stop Biden’s supposed federal overreach, urging freedom in affordable vehicle and fuel purchases. Critics warn that despite up-front cost savings on EVs, EV battery replacements can be as high as $20k. EVs demand plenty of carbon and because they are recharged with fossil fuels, the environmental and economic benefits are negligible. Governments worldwide are subsidizing the EV industry with tens of billions in taxpayer dollars, creating a false need to transition EV as the only key solution. Automakers are attempting to make EVs better and cheaper than gas-powered cars but politicians are blocking consumers' choice.

Military veterans cut off from US bases in one country, stripping them of lifeline to home
retirees in Turkey are set to lose access to US military bases, including commissaries and military post offices, starting on October 1st. The move is expected to affect 121 US military retirees in the country. While the bases cite rules governing the status of US forces in Turkey as the justification for the change, many retirees view it as an attempt at a cost-cutting measure.#

Fox News: Vaccines could be the next big breakthrough in cancer treatment
Vaccines could be the next big breakthrough in cancer treatment
Medical researchers predict that the next advance in cancer treatment could be a vaccine designed to shrink tumors and prevent cancer from returning. Traditional vaccines that prevent disease do not work the same way as the experimental shots that are currently in development. Instead, cancer vaccines boost the immune system to find and kill cancer cells, and some vaccines use mRNA to teach T cells to recognize cancer as a danger. Progress has been made in developing treatment vaccines for bladder, prostate, melanoma, and breast cancer, although much work remains to be done. The next generation of vaccines will be personalized for cancer patients and will be more expensive to produce than traditional vaccines.

Fox News: German high court smacks down ban on peaceful protests within vicinity of abortion clinics: 'Truly relieved'
German high court smacks down ban on peaceful protests within vicinity of abortion clinics: 'Truly relieved'
The Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig, Germany has ruled that bans on prayerful protests outside abortion clinics violate the freedom of assembly guaranteed by the country's Basic Law. This marks a victory for the German chapter of pro-life group 40 Days of Life, which was assisted in its legal battle by international advocacy group Alliance Defending Freedom. The ruling invalidates a 2019 decision by authorities in the city of Pforzheim to ban the organization from demonstrating within sight of a nearby Planned Parenthood clinic, across a four-lane highway, during twice-yearly silent prayer vigils. Federal Minister for Family Affairs Lisa Paus has advocated for buffer zones around such clinics, which could ban counseling and peaceful protests in their proximity.

Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, a pro-life activist in the UK, was subject to arrest twice for silently praying outside an abortion clinic in Birmingham. West Midlands police recently loosened her bail conditions that previously restricted her proximity to such clinics, though Vaughan-Spruce still faces potential prosecution. Wendy Faustin is currently suing Colorado Governor Jared Polis for a 1993 "bubble law," as she alleges that it violates her First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and religion as well as her 14th Amendment right to equal protection. Lead counsel Roger Byron expressed worry that such laws, initially created to protect women during abortion procedures, could expand in scope beyond that issue.

Fox News: Former NY governor knocks state's ‘Clean Slate’ bill that seals criminal records: Only works 'in theory'
Former NY governor knocks state's ‘Clean Slate’ bill that seals criminal records: Only works 'in theory'
Former New York Democratic Gov. David Paterson criticizes the Clean Slate Act, which would seal old criminal records if criminals remain out of trouble for a certain number of years. Paterson argues that repeat offenders and those with long criminal records will never have a clean slate, and this law will increase the number of criminals who have not been out of prison long enough to prove they learned their lesson before sealing their records. On the other hand, Democrats and unions support the Clean Slate Act because a criminal record often means difficulty obtaining secure work and housing. Republicans oppose the bill, fearing the removal of accountability for those who have committed a crime.

65 Percent of Teenagers Are Targets of 'Sextortion' Schemes: Study
Recent research by Snapchat’s parent company shows that 65% of Gen Z teens have been targeted for "sextortion" by criminals seeking to demand sexual activity or extort money. The report explains that such schemes involve predators luring young people to send sexually explicit images or videos by acting like someone in the minor's age group and promising relationships or rewards. These images and videos are then used to repeatedly pressure victims into sending more content by blackmailing them with threats to publish these materials. The FBI has urged caution with social media posts and warned that criminals are circulating underage photos and videos, altering them into sexual content for harassement and sextortion schemes.
