The Epoch Times: Senate Republicans Seek to Block Biden From Declaring Climate National Emergency
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito and nine other Republican senators introduced the Real Emergencies Act, which would prevent President Biden from declaring a national emergency due to climate change. Biden has faced pressure from environmental activist groups to declare a national emergency, which would grant him increased federal power and spending to combat the effects of climate change. However, Capito argues that executive overreach has already adversely affected energy independence, created uncertainty for workers, and hiked prices for consumers. The proposed legislation would prevent Biden from declaring a climate change-inspired national emergency based on the National Emergencies Act, the Stafford Act, and the Public Health Service Act's Section 319.
Environmentalists hope to take advantage of the increased federal power and spending that would follow such a declaration, arguing that Biden's executive orders lacked the mobilization of federal powers and resources necessary to combat climate chaos. The calls for national emergency have been amplified by recent forest fires in Canada that have prompted some Democrats in Congress, including Oregon Democrat Rep. Earl Blumenauer, to urge Biden to declare a national climate emergency. However, Capito's Real Emergencies Act would prevent such a declaration, saying that such an order would increase executive authority and grow the size of government all in the name of climate change.
Daily Wire: Monday Afternoon Update: Merrick Garland Impeachment? COVID Report Dumped On Friday Night, Latest White House Biden Spin Is A Sight To Behold
Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy hinted at the possibility of raising impeachment articles against Attorney General Merrick Garland over allegations that the DOJ impeded investigations into Hunter Biden. The Supreme Court blocked Louisiana's Congressional map for violating the voting rights of black voters. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence's COVID-19 origins report fails to comply with the Covid-19 Origins Act, according to critics. President Biden's low approval ratings and concerns over his fitness for office are attributed to the public not yet feeling the impact of his actions as president. Newton Police are searching for suspects following the fatal stabbing of three people in Massachusetts. Democrat State Senator Joshua Miller from Rhode Island has been arrested and charged with vandalism after allegedly keying an SUV with an "anti-Biden" sticker. Fox News announced its new primetime lineup, with Jesse Watters moving to 8:00pm ET and Greg Gutfeld to 10:00pm ET.
Washington Free Beacon: RFK Jr. Hosts Convicted Sex Predator on His Podcast To Praise Putin
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had convicted child sex predator, Scott Ritter, on his podcast to discuss Putin's Wagner Crisis. During the show, they slammed the Russian mercenary leader who turned against Putin, Yevgeny Prigozhin, calling him "a traitor" who "stabbed Russia in the back." Ritter and Kennedy also speculated that the CIA could be behind the Russian coup attempt. Ritter, who is controversial due to his criminal history and his strong support for the Putin regime, has claimed that Putin "will go down in history as one of the greatest leaders of all time."
Breitbart: Biden Attorney Chris Clark Admits WhatsApp Text Is Hunter’s
Hunter Biden's lawyer admitted that his 2017 WhatsApp text demanding money from a CCP-linked businessman while "sitting" next to his dad was indeed Hunter's message. The attorney tried to distance President Joe Biden from the scandal by framing Hunter as a victim of addiction. Breitbart News reported that the Biden family business received $5.1 million within 10 days of Hunter's message to a CCP-linked businessman. The deep financial connections between Biden, Owasco, and the Chinese government are further investigated.
National Review: The Corner: Politico Invents a New Kind of Judge
The Dobbs Supreme Court decision on abortion has sparked strong reactions from both sides of the aisle. Politico has labeled the conservative justices as "movement judges" who overturn precedent based on the wants of mobilized people, rather than legal expertise. The writers do not address the constitutional questions of Roe v. Wade and dismiss originalism as conservative window dressing.
Daily Wire: A Walk Through San Francisco With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis visited San Francisco to witness firsthand the city's homelessness and fentanyl crises. DeSantis criticized leftist policies for causing the city's decline and emphasized that Florida takes a different approach, standing for law and order across the board. He also discussed the negative effects of illegal immigration and the transgender policies in California. As for the 2024 presidential race, DeSantis believes that if the election is a referendum on Biden's failures, Republicans can win by offering a better path for America.

The Federalist Papers: Amidst Huge Losses Bud Light Sponsors Toronto Pride Parade Including Naked Men and Children
Bud Light's sponsorship of the Toronto Pride parade is causing controversy due to the presence of naked men engaging in provocative activities in front of children attending the event. Many argue that events like this should exercise caution to ensure they remain family-friendly environments. Bud Light defends their partnership with Pride Toronto and emphasizes their decade-long association and commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ community. However, the controversy highlights the intersection of corporate sponsorship of woke events that cause discourse versus honoring traditional values of consumers. The decision to collaborate with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney previously sparked backlash and resulted in a substantial loss of market value for the brand.
PJ Media: Portland Proud Boys Unmask Attackers at Pride Protest – And Well, Well, Well, What Have We Here?
A brawl between the Proud Boys and a masked group attempting to infiltrate a children's theater group's drag show has been seized upon by politicians, including Adam Kinzinger and Eric Swalwell. The infiltrators were chased out of the protest, and the Proud Boys unmasked them as members of the racist Patriot Front group, believed to have been infiltrated by the feds. The Proud Boys have been accused by the media and Democrats of being the "fascists" in the altercation, but they are not racists and have supported efforts to stop the sexualization of children by the Left.
The Epoch Times: Federal Judge Blocks Florida's Law Banning Children at Drag Shows
A federal judge blocked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis's new law protecting minors from exposure to drag shows. Judge Gregory A. Presnell granted an injunction against the law in response to a lawsuit from Hamburger Mary's Restaurant and Bar, which frequently features family-friendly drag performances. The company claims the law violates its First Amendment rights as terms in it are ambiguous and require broad subjectivity in interpretation.
The Epoch Times: Trump Vows to Sign a Bill Barring 'Child Sexual Mutilation in All 50 States'
Former President Donald Trump criticized doctors who perform transgender surgeries on children and promised to sign a law prohibiting the procedure. He also vowed to keep transgender individuals out of the military and cut funding for schools that promote critical race theory or enforce vaccine or mask mandates. Additionally, he stated his commitment to pro-life policies and fighting against late-term abortionists. The former president's comments were made at a Faith and Freedom Coalition event.
Breitbart: Reddit Mods Say They Will Ban Users Who Refer to 'Non-Binary' Character on 'And Just Like That' as a Woman
Reddit moderators will ban users who refer to "non-binary" character Che Diaz as a woman, in the "Sex and the City" spinoff series "And Just Like That" . The character, played by actress Sara Ramirez, uses "they/them" pronouns and is a queer stand-up comedian in a relationship with character Miranda Hobbes, played by Cynthia Nixon, who is exploring her sexuality. Moderators on the show's subreddit wrote that "repeated offenses will result in a ban," and "referring to trans identities as 'fantasy,' 'not real' or any implication that they do not exist will result in an immediate ban."
The inclusion of a non-binary character in "And Just Like That" is the latest example of the growing presence of LGBTQIA2S+ characters on television, with virtually no piece of entertainment without some type of "non-binary," "they/them" identity, or transgender propaganda, thanks to groups like GLAAD lobbying the industry .

The Epoch Times: An Opportunity From Russia: The Wagner Rebellion
Russian paramilitary group, the Wagner Group, mutinied and occupied military bases in Rostov and Voronezh before being turned around by their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin. Prigozhin is known for his involvement in Russia's invasion of Ukraine and is no angel, having recruited prison conscripts for suicide missions. Ukrainians have taken the opportunity to reinvigorate military counter-offensives, while Russian infighting has led to speculation about Putin's whereabouts and the potential for Prigozhin or someone like him to replace him. Democracies worldwide should actively plan to use opportunities created by Russian disunity for freedom's advantage with a window of opportunity potentially available for the United States and allies to take Taiwan measures previously seen as provocative.

The Epoch Times: Levy Sanctions Against Foreign Aggressors Targeting Canada With Disinformation: MPs
MPs call for sanctions against those spreading disinformation in Canada amid increasing foreign influence campaigns from Russia, China, and others. The House of Commons defence committee urges the Liberal government to strengthen Canada's cybersecurity and cyberwarfare efforts and improve resilience to both domestic and foreign threats. The committee recommends using existing sanction regimes against those manipulating Canadians with false information and imposing effective sanctions on countries involved in cybercrime or information warfare.
Forbes: Biden Unequivocally Says West Had Nothing To Do With Wagner Rebellion In Russia
President Biden distances the West from the rebellion inside Russia led by the Wagner Group, which posed the largest threat to President Putin's power since his presidency's start. Biden said the West had nothing to do with the rebellion, which he described as "a struggle within the Russian system," and stated he could not allow Putin to blame NATO or the West. While it is unknown where the internal rebellion will lead Russia in its fight against Ukraine, Biden says he will ensure the alignment of the US's allies and partners.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov suggested they were investigating the involvement of Western intelligence services in the rebellion. Prigozhin, chief of the Wagner group, denied trying to overthrow the Russain government and claimed the group was responding to an attack by the Russian military. Biden stayed silent over the weekend, and before the Wagner group made it to Moscow, an eleventh-hour deal was struck between Prigozhin and Putin to avoid a likely invasion of Moscow. Though Wagner troops began pulling out of Rostov and Voronezh on Sunday, it is unclear what happens next.
National Review: The Corner: The End of Wagner Group
Yevgeny Prigozhin's PMC Wagner Group, a renowned mercenary force, was set to be liquidated and incorporated into the regular Russian armed forces, leading to protests by Prigozhin and his men. After the march towards Moscow, a deal was worked out, and the liquidation and regularization of Wagner Group will proceed. Putin has effectively consolidated power, but questions remain about the cost and the vulnerability of the Russian army to the Ukrainian counteroffensive. No evidence has emerged of major changes in the Ministry of Defense congenial to Prigozhin.

The Epoch Times: California Could See Sharp Drop in Job Growth, Moderate Recession by 2024: Chapman Forecast
Chapman University economists have warned that California, the fifth-largest economy in the world, may be hit hard by a moderate recession by the end of the year, reducing job growth to 1.3% by December, compared with 5.6% last year. The experts also cautioned that a high cost of living, an exodus of residents to tax-free states such as Florida, and a steep drop in home value of 16%, or $710,000, by the end of this year, may affect the state's economic well-being. Some 87% of Californians reportedly said in a survey they believe the state has either "serious" or "very serious" issues with affordability, economic uncertainty, the education system, public safety, and political polarization.
Chapman economists also predicted a moderate national recession in the second half of this year, dropping real GDP. As of this month, the Federal Reserve has paused interest rates hikes after 10 consecutive rate increases. Banks across the US are under pressure due to a mini banking crisis, triggered by declines in their bond and mortgage holdings. Commercial real estate loans are plummeting, and office occupancy rates in Southern California and San Francisco have also taken a significant hit. Chapman economists are of the opinion that California is expected to fare worse than any other state in the US during recessions.
The Epoch Times: Cyberattack on Suncor Leaves Petro-Canada Gas Stations Accepting Cash Only
A cyber attack on Suncor Energy has forced Petro-Canada gas stations in Canada to move to cash-only and suspend the Petro-Points loyalty program. Suncor said in a news release that it had “experienced a cyber security incident.” The attack has led to some dissatisfaction from customers as some locations can “only accept cash and our app and Petro-Points login are unavailable,” while car washes were unavailable at some locations. The scope of the attack is unknown, but Suncor has assured the public that customer data is safe and “At this time, we are not aware of any evidence that customer, supplier or employee data has been compromised or misused as a result of this situation.”
Spectator USA: Stop trying to make Bidenomics happen
President Biden is embarking on another round of his "Investing in America" tour to sell his economic policies. This comes as his approval rating on the economy sinks below his overall rating. The White House's claim that Biden has created more jobs and achieved a larger deficit reduction than any other president in American history is largely false and fails to account for inflation. Democrats believe that Biden needs to spend more time promoting his economic policies in the lead-up to the 2024 election, but most Americans disagree that he is doing a good job as president in general and especially with the economy.
Fox News: House Republican attempts to stop Biden administration from weakening washing machines
New energy efficiency standards for washing machines proposed by the Biden administration have caused controversy among leading industry corporations who claim the mandates force manufacturers to reduce cleaning performance. Representative John Moolenaar (R-Mich.) has introduced an appropriations amendment to bar the Department of Energy from using any of its funding to enforce the environmental regulations proposed by the Biden administration. Moolenaar cites the radical climate agenda as the driving force behind the administration's new push on quality of life appliances and argues that the proposed regulations on washing machines would push affordable options out of the market and make it harder to wash clothes.
The Right Scoop: STUPID: NYC to crack down on pizza joints over climate change, man takes his pizza protest to city hall!
NYC is proposing edicts on pizza restaurants that have coal or wood-fired ovens to decrease carbon emissions. The cost of the emission control devices required to reduce emissions by up to 75% could put some restaurants out of business as it may cost $20,000.
The Epoch Times: Orange County IDA Approves Tax-Exempt Bonds for Buyer of Glen Arden
Bethel Communities Management has proposed to buy the financially troubled Glen Arden retirement community in Goshen. The purchase will involve taking over almost all assets and liabilities, including an outstanding bond and back taxes owed to Orange County, the Town and Village of Goshen, and Goshen Central School District. Bethel's proposed takeover is contingent upon reaching an agreement with the local taxing districts. Glen Arden has been mired with financial distress for years and failed to pay local taxes since 2021. As a continuing care retirement community with only a dozen or so in the entire state, residents often pay $200,000 to $1 million for one-time admission charges, plus monthly fees ranging from $2,000 to $5,000.
The Blaze: Horowitz: Taxation without representation: GOP must stop Biden’s global tax cartel
The Biden administration is in league with Europe to push forward a global corporate minimum tax, which is designed to erode U.S. sovereignty, incentivize the growth of all governments, and penalize American taxpayers, consumers, and workers. All multi-national corporations with global sales above €20 billion would be subject to up to 25% taxation on all income above 10% profit, with the majority of $200 billion in tax revenue coming from the U.S. and flowing into foreign coffers. The plan would also disincentivize countries from lowering taxes, and China would be the biggest beneficiary.
The laws governing this reciprocal tax will be the most complex international tax and trade laws of all time. It is unclear how these different taxes are supposed to interact or which country has the right to tax which income under which tax regime. Although some countries have adopted the minimum tax on its own companies, House Republicans should pass Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith’s Defending American Jobs and Investment Act, which would allow the U.S. to retaliate against any foreign company’s collection of a minimum tax with severe penalties to their companies. There should be a prohibition on the U.S. joining the OECD plan, along with a provision conditioning all contributions to the partnership to the termination of this scheme.

Hostin noted the community's refusal to acknowledge Trump's wrongdoings and called it distressing.

The Economist: Why short prison sentences in England and Wales are a disaster
Short prison sentences in England and Wales are a disaster, revealing deep flaws in the criminal justice system. Over 60% of those sentenced to less than six months reoffend within a year of release, and short sentences make prisons overcrowded, violent places without offering much hope of rehabilitation. Short sentences are also a chief reason prisons have high staff turnover, and the nature of repeat, petty offenders exacerbates this. As a share of those in prison at any time, short-termers are a small group, but they cause a disproportionate amount of trouble. They also cost much more than community options, and polls suggest voters are actually less keen on prison terms for crimes like theft than currently thought.
Agricultural shows, or country fairs, are gaining momentum in Britain. These events attract millions of visitors each year and showcase traditional country pursuits such as livestock farming, hunting, and fishing. The popularity of country fairs is partly due to nostalgia for the countryside, and as a way of celebrating rural culture. Many events have diversified to include more attractions such as food and drink producers, craft shows, and music festivals. Country fairs have become an important source of income for farmers and rural businesses, and a way to bring people together and foster a sense of community.

New York City's Department of Environmental Protection is enforcing new regulations to reduce carbon emissions and particulate matter from coal and wood-fired pizza ovens, which are some of the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality. Such ovens are no longer allowed in restaurants unless they invest in costly emission-control devices that reduce these pollutants by up to 75%. A city official stated that fewer than 100 restaurants will be affected. Some pizzeria operators are negotiating with the department on whether they qualify for a grandfather clause in the regulation.
