PJ Media: Hypocrisy, Democracy, and the Outrageous Assault on the FVD Party
Globalist parties in the Netherlands are discussing a possible ban on the nationalist-populist party, Forum for Democracy (FVD), despite the fact that the FVD is a stalwart advocate of the democratic process. The mainstream parties are accusing FVD of being undemocratic, but the irony of this situation is that they are orchestrating a move that can only be described as a direct assault on democratic principles. FVD is being targeted because it questions the status quo and challenges prevailing worldviews, such as the importance of NATO and the value of the EU project. This potential banning is not just an attack on FVD, but on the very foundations of democracy.
Fox News: Donald Trump honored as Man of the Decade in Michigan county as the former president's campaign continues
Former President Donald Trump was named the Man of the Decade by the Oakland County GOP in Michigan. The event marked his first campaign appearance in Michigan, where he lost in both 2016 and 2020. Trump spoke at the Lincoln Day Dinner and criticized President Joe Biden, calling him a "catastrophe" for the state of Michigan. Trump also attacked Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's decision to approve state funds for a foreign company. Experts say Trump needs to win Michigan again if he wants to be president in 2024, but his popularity has declined since 2016.
The Epoch Times: Supreme Court Dismisses Lawsuit Over Trump’s Former DC Hotel
The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal over a dispute between former President Trump and Democrats regarding the lease of the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. Democrats claimed Trump received a sweet deal for the government property, but voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit in lower courts after the Trump Organization sold the lease to the property in May 2022. The hotel is now known as the Waldorf Astoria Washington D.C. and part of Hilton Worldwide. The legal issue was whether individual members of Congress have standing under Article III of the U.S. Constitution to sue an executive agency to disclose information.
The Right Scoop: WATCH: Speaker McCarthy says he’ll begin impeachment of AG Merrick Garland over Hunter Biden
Speaker McCarthy threatens impeachment proceedings against AG Garland over Hunter Biden allegations.
The Epoch Times: McCarthy Talks of Impeaching Garland as New Email Contradicts Attorney General
Speaker Kevin McCarthy is considering the impeachment of Attorney General Merrick Garland over the handling of the Hunter Biden investigation after an email contradicted Garland's testimony. US Attorney David Weiss charged Hunter Biden with tax and firearm offences in June 2023 with the president's son admitting guilt. An IRS whistleblower testified that Weiss said his request for charges to be brought in Washington and California was rejected and that Weiss’s request for special counsel authority was denied by the DOJ leadership. Garland, who appointed Weiss, previously supported Weiss on the investigation and said he was in charge of it.
Fox News: McCarthy hints at Garland impeachment over 'weaponization' of DOJ after whistleblower claims
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy may initiate an impeachment inquiry into Attorney General Merrick Garland, pending the outcome of investigations into claims by two IRS whistleblowers that the Justice Department interfered with the Hunter Biden probe due to political pressures. McCarthy noted that US Attorney David Weiss must provide answers to the House Judiciary Committee. If the allegations by the whistleblowers prove true, it would constitute a significant part of investigating what McCarthy termed as the "weaponization of DOJ" by Garland. Witnesses included Baltimore FBI Special Agent in Charge Tom Sobocinski and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Ryeshia Holley, IRS Assistant Special Agent in Charge Gary Shapley, and Special Agent in Charge Darrell Waldon.
Garland is likely to deny these allegations and claims he has ultimate authority over this matter, including the responsibility of filing charges, deciding when and where to file charges, and for making decisions that would preserve the integrity of the prosecution. Meanwhile, Shapley claimed in a statement from his representatives on Friday that Weiss told six witnesses that he did not have the authority to charge in other districts and asked for special counsel status. Shapley's version was independently and contemporaneously corroborated by the witnesses, Sobocinski, Holley, Shapley, and Waldon, according to the legal team.

Epstein then donated $10,400 to Plaskett's 2014 campaign, after which she still sought his support and contributions to the Democrats.

The Blaze: 1,000 accidental 911 calls from music festival bombard call center, police blame iPhones thinking people were in car accidents
Nearly 1,000 accidental 911 calls were made to police from the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee, overwhelming the emergency response team. The calls are believed to be a result of iPhones with Apple's new Crash Detection feature, which is designed to detect severe car crashes and automatically calls emergency services if the user doesn't respond. The Manchester police asked festival attendees to disable the feature, but Apple disputed the claim and labeled them as acts of "butt-dialing." The 300% increase in daily accidental calls during the festival resulted in over 50 hours of overtime work for city officials.

Foreign Policy: The Global South Is Keeping Russia’s Energy Economy Afloat
The war in Ukraine has reshaped energy connections around the world and could play a significant role in shaping the standoff between Russia and the West. Ukraine’s own energy sector has been decimated by Russia’s assault against the country. The U.S. and EU passed the strongest sanctions to date against the Russian energy sector while making ambitious plans to diversify away from Russian oil and natural gas supplies. Russia has ramped up its energy exports to many countries in the non-Western world, including China, India, some Gulf states, and Turkey, making the Russian economy surprisingly resilient. The energy outlook for the West appears brighter with plans to expand natural gas trade with the United States. Ukraine faces the daunting task of rebuilding much of its energy infrastructure while having Western support to reconstruct a more modernized and greener energy sector.

Record rainfall in California this winter has led to thriving wine grapes in Napa Valley, but cooler summer temperatures risk delaying the harvest. Northern California's wine country has faced a changing climate that has led to major wildfires, risking smoke tainting grapes that destroyed major parts of the world-famous region. Proposed legislation in Congress aims to protect wine grape growers in California, Washington and Oregon from wildfire smoke damage and to develop fair insurance products for growers.
