Breitbart: Ron DeSantis Rolls Out Policy to Secure Border
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis previewed his plan to secure the US southern border, calling it an "American problem" impacting communities across the nation. He detailed what he saw during his visit to the border in Texas, noting the human catastrophe caused by current policies and calling for an appropriate use of force to stop drug smugglers. DeSantis previewed some of the actions taken by Florida under his leadership, including banning sanctuary cities and implementing employment verification. The Blaze: NFL player cancels charity golf tournament at Trump National after sponsor pulls out over 'political battle'
Buffalo Bills player Jordan Poyer cancelled his annual charity golf tournament, set to take place at the Trump-owned golf course in Florida, after a big sponsor pulled out. Poyer announced that the Buffalo-area hospital that was set to benefit from the event also withdrew due to pressure from “up top”. However, a hospital spokesperson refuted that they were a sponsor, rather a beneficiary, and said that it was Poyer’s decision to cancel. Poyer’s reps, Avalon Sports, also issued a statement lamenting the “negative comments by some individuals trying to make this a political battle and divide our community”.
Daily Wire: ‘No Excuses’: DeSantis Rolls Out Plan To Shut Down Illegal Immigration During Border Visit
Ron DeSantis, a GOP presidential candidate, announced his immigration plan during a campaign stop on the U.S. southern border. His plan, titled "No Excuses," rests on four pillars: "stop the invasion," "build the wall," "hold cartels accountable," and "work with states to enforce the law." DeSantis seeks to gain an edge over former President Donald Trump, who leads the Republican presidential field, on one of Trump's signature issues in the 2024 GOP primary.
DeSantis vowed to go beyond anything Trump did to secure the border. He promises to "build the wall. No excuses," ramp up the battle with drug cartels, and apply "rules of engagement" for U.S. forces to fight cartels along the border. DeSantis also promised to end the Biden approach of catch-and-release and reinstate Trump's "Remain in Mexico" policy, scrapping Biden's parole program.
The New American: Weaponization of Politics, an American Tradition - The New American
American politicians have a long history of weaponizing governmental powers against their political opponents, from the Alien and Sedition Acts to the FBI wiretapping Martin Luther King Jr. and even keeping files on pop music group The Monkees. Opponents of US involvement in wars have been subjected to government harassment, surveillance, and accusations of being "fifth column" agents for foreign powers. The growth of an unelected and unaccountable bureaucratic deep state has further fueled the weaponization of politics, making it more important than ever to be vigilant in ensuring the government acts within constitutional limits and promotes policies of peace and free trade .

Fox News: Bud Light sponsors Toronto Pride parade attended by naked men, children
Bud Light sponsored Toronto Pride Parade includes videos of naked men and phallic costumes in plain view of children. Coors Light remains the title sponsor of the Denver Pride Parade despite the controversy. The company pledged to continue supporting LGBTQUA2S+ groups, contributing $100,000, and creating commemorative Pride beer cans. Red State: Strike at Starbucks: Coffee Giant Clashes With Union Over LGBTQ+ Pride Flags and Decor Removal
Starbucks U.S. locations have been picketed by workers after the baristas’ union alleged managers at several stores removed Pride flags. The nationwide strike is the largest ever staged against Starbucks and involves 3,000 workers at over 150 stores over the next week. The company has denied the allegations, saying it unwaveringly supports the LGBTQIA2+ community and that its stores are not banning any decorations. The accusation is that the decision to refrain from decorating for Pride was made by “higher-ups.” Pro-unionist outlets maintain that over 100 stores across three states were impacted. Starbucks has been engaged in negotiations with some unionized stores since late 2022. It is yet to reach any labor contract agreements.

National Review: Don’t Put Too Much Stock in the Prigozhin Conspiracy Theories
The recent armed rebellion led by Yevgeni Prigozhin in Russia has left many wondering about the true motives behind the uprising. Various conspiracy theories have emerged ranging from Prigozhin attempting to stage a failed rebellion to distract from his true intentions, to the CIA being blamed for the crisis. However, the Western press reports suggest that the rebellion was due to a Defense Ministry effort to fold all of Russia’s paramilitary forces into the military, depriving Prigozhin of control of his private army. In the end, Prigozhin folded under the threat of harm to the families of Wagner leaders, and Putin’s regime showed its brittleness in the face of a challenge to its authority.

Foreign Policy: How Campaign Promises Crashed Ghana’s Economy
Ghana's economic woes preceded the pandemic and are largely due to politicians' overspending. Implementing campaign promises such as free education and reducing taxes were impractical and unsustainable, leading to a significant drain on the country's finances. COVID-19 and election spending only worsened the situation, and mismanagement of funds led to a fiscal deficit and high public debt. Ghanaians are tired of a governance system that fails to meet their expectations, as politics divides the nation and widens inequality. Until politics uplifts people economically and raises living standards, corruption will worsen and democracy will remain a myth.

Daily Wire: Why Veterans And Lawmakers Are Exploring Psychedelic Therapy For PTSD And Opioid Addiction
Scientists and lawmakers are exploring the potential of psychedelics, particularly Ibogaine, to combat the opioid epidemic in the United States. Ibogaine has been shown in studies to have immense benefits in treating drug addiction, PTSD, and other mental health disorders. Anecdotal evidence has suggested that Ibogaine not only produces psychedelic experiences but also leads to deep introspective periods that encourage and help convince people to reassess their addiction. Lawmakers in states such as Kentucky are investing in Ibogaine research, allocating potential funding from an $842 million payout received as part of a federal lawsuit against pharma companies for their role in the opioid crisis. Veterans and military personnel, including retired Marine Corps General Martin Steele and retired Navy SEAL Tommy Aceto, have also expressed support for the use of Ibogaine in treating PTSD and other service-related ailments. However, detractors warn of the potential risks associated with its use, including cardiac toxicity, ataxia, and negative effects when mixed with other drugs.

Crime is surging in elite left-wing enclave Fairfax County, Virginia, with crimes against persons up 10% between 2021 and 2022, and crimes against property up 19%. Police have responded by replacing shotguns with 630 beanbag shotguns, which looks like a toy gun and will embolden criminals. Fairfax County is the third-highest median household income county in the US, and went nearly 70% for Joe Biden in 2020, but red counties with gun ownership and less coddling of criminals may deter crime.
Fox News: Bryan Kohberger's defense claims Idaho murders suspect has 'no connection' with victims
Bryan Kohberger's defense team questions the use of genetic genealogy and the manipulation of DNA collection by prosecutors who connected their client to the murders of four University of Idaho students. DNA from three unidentified males was found at the crime scene, according to court documents. Prosecutors disclosed how authorities linked Kohberger's DNA to a statistical match found on a knife sheath near one of the victim's body.
Kohberger's defense team challenged law enforcement's use of genetic genealogy and argued that there is no connection between Kohberger and the victims. They also questioned how police knew to look for a white Elantra and demanded full disclosure of genetic genealogy profiles. Kohberger is accused of killing four Idaho students and has been held without bail since his arrest at his parents' home in Pennsylvania. His trial is set to begin on October 2nd, and he could face the death penalty if convicted.
