E-commerce platform Shopify plans to contest a demand from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for six years of records relating to over 121,000 of its Canadian merchants in a Federal Court case. The CRA uses Unnamed Persons Requirements to identify non-compliance, according to a spokeswoman, who reportedly added that the identity and information of those individuals was protected according to the tax service's standard practices. Some commentators noted that Shopify held much of the information the CRA required through data recorded about its clients' sales and revenues.

Border Patrol Releases Bodycam Footage of Fatal Nighttime Shooting of Arizona Man
US CBP released body camera footage of the fatal shooting of Ray Mattia on May 18. The Economist: America aims for nuclear-power renaissance
America aims for nuclear-power renaissance
America's nuclear industry is seeing a resurgence, with the Biden administration investing billions in nuclear development through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act. Nuclear power provides nearly 19% of America's electricity generation, but the cost to build reactors is expensive, fuel shortages remain, and worker shortages could also impact the industry's growth. However, supporters claim nuclear power's carbon-free alternatives to other energy sources, such as coal and natural gas, could drive an atomic renaissance to help decarbonise the US's electric grids.

The fate of NuScale's Idaho plant will be decided this year as America may look to expand small modular reactors across the country. While supporters predict great success for nuclear power, the expense and technicality of construction, fuel shortages, worker shortages, and potential delays may push some to remain sceptical of the hype. Even so, the nuclear industry is receiving great support from the Biden administration, hoping to make nuclear power more cost-effective as America aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
