The Epoch Times: Twitter Undergoes ‘Stress Test’ For New Censorship Regulations in Europe
EU Commissioner Thierry Breton visited Twitter headquarters to ensure compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA) which aims to control misinformation and hate speech from social media networks. Breton has warned that Twitter may face fines of up to 6% of global annual revenues and may be banned from operating in the EU if it fails to comply with DSA's censorship rules. The DSA will enforce regulations on “very large online platforms,'' including Google, Facebook, and Instagram starting from late August, in an effort to monitor and regulate big tech firms, and remove content deemed as misinformation and hate speech.

Breitbart: House and Senate Republicans Take a Buzzsaw to Wokeness in the Military
Republicans on the House and Senate Armed Services Committees have passed defense bills that push back against what they view as the Biden administration's efforts to promote "wokeness" in the military. Rep. Jim Banks and Rep. Matt Gaetz succeeded in including provisions that would stop the use of DoD funds to put on drag shows, report on the impact of transgender policies, and eliminate the position of DEI chief at the DOD. Sen. Roger Wicker succeeded in including his Merit Act that would redefine "equity" as "equal opportunity" and mandate a full accounting of DEI programming across the department. The bills now go to the House and Senate floors for further debate and revision before being sent to the president for signature.

Forbes: The $50 Million Profits Driving Nintendo's Latest Movie Franchise
Warner Bros. announced that a sequel to the wildly popular Detective Pikachu game, based on the eponymous character from the Pokemon trading card series, will be released in October. The first live-action Pokemon film, Detective Pikachu was a tremendous gamble that paid off thanks to its snappy script, sharp direction, scintillating computer-generated imagery, and Ryan Reynolds' fast-paced witty performance. The film focuses on a mystery for Pikachu, voiced by Reynolds, to solve with the help of reluctant Pokemon trainer Tim Goodman. Detective Pikachu was made by Legendary Pictures subsidiary Gumshoe Productions in the UK to take advantage of the country's Film Tax Relief scheme, with the majority of shoots taking place at Shepperton Studios. The sequel's humour should still shine through as scripting is down to Chris Galletta.
PJ Media: Another Woke Reboot Dies a Horrible Death
Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, the woke prequel series to the 1978 hit film Grease is the latest example of Hollywood's obsession with incorporating "wokeness" into beloved classics, resulting in poor reception and eventual cancellation. The show flaunted same-sex romances and a diverse, LGBTQ cast, taking something beloved and turning it into garbage that the masses don't want to see. Hollywood needs to focus on original stories instead of shamelessly inserting LGBTQ ideology into period pieces or diversifying the cast to the point of rewriting history.
The cancellation of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies was announced last week, reportedly due to poor reception, and it will also be permanently removed from the Paramount+ platform. Similarly, Amazon Studios' A League of Their Own, a series based on the beloved 1992 film, was canceled in March after putting storytelling second to pushing racial politics and LGBTQ ideology. Hollywood must realize that incorporating "wokeness" into classic works hardly ever works and results in the memory-holing of the movie out of existence. The focus should be on original ideas, and respecting the original material, instead of using them as vehicles for personal agendas.

Fox News: I was nearly too busy to save my own life
Former Olympic gymnast, Shannon Miller, discusses her battle with ovarian cancer and emphasizes the importance of regular medical check-ups. After feeling guilty for considering canceling her scheduled appointment, Miller discovered a baseball-sized cyst on her ovary which turned out to be cancerous. Although she was fortunate to catch it early, Miller underwent chemotherapy and experienced a rigorous recovery. Miller urges women to prioritize their health by not skipping medical screenings and exams, as early detection is crucial in treating cancer effectively. A recent Aflac poll found that one in four respondents have skipped regular check-ups, and one in two have skipped common health screenings, while a Gallup poll found four out of 10 Americans put off care in 2022 due to cost.

National Review: The Corner: It’s Not Racist to Say Basketball Players Are Tall
Mike Freeman, a USA Today op-ed columnist, accused Ron DeSantis, the Florida Governor, of racism for his comments concerning baseball and basketball. Freeman's column claimed that DeSantis had used "racist tropes" in saying that baseball was a "democratic game" and involved "meritocracy" over basketball, which he described as a sport with "freaky athletes". However, DeSantis had simply been opining that basketball required more natural athleticism than baseball. Freeman's attempt to link DeSantis's comments to racism was based on little more than a distortion of what was actually said.
Fox News: Antonio Brown accuses Bucs of treating him like 'a little dog,' suggests Tom Brady enticed him to play hurt

However, in a recent podcast appearance, Brown accused Tom Brady of enticing him to play and promising him targets during the game. Brown said he has no ill will toward Brady but still appeared to be upset that the quarterback convinced him to play while injured. Brown left the Buccaneers after the incident and has also recently seen his arena league team get booted over a financial issue.
Forbes: Mason Mount Is Pure Chelsea He Shouldn’t Go To Manchester United
Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, who played a crucial role in the club's Champions League victory in May, is the subject of three transfer offers from Manchester United. Mount has been with Chelsea since the age of four and wants to leave the club, despite having a deep bond with the team and fans. The club has been unable to provide the type of offer he is looking for, and his failure to establish himself under Graham Potter has left the situation in a stand-off. Mount's market value is high due to his homegrown status, which could influence Chelsea's decision to sell him this summer.

Breitbart: Canada Launches Investigation Into Cause of Titanic Sub Implosion
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the Titan submersible that imploded in the North Atlantic, killing all five people aboard. The Polar Prince, the main support ship for the Titan, left Newfoundland on June 16, towing the ill-fated submersible. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has also initiated an examination of the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
It is still unclear who will lead the investigation as the ownership and registration of the Titan and Polar Prince raise questions. The world of deep-sea exploration is largely unregulated, and the unconventional design of the Titan and the refusal of its creator to submit to independent checks, raise further questions about its safety. As the investigation proceeds, it is expected that lawsuits will arise, but establishing jurisdiction will be challenging.
