A chlorine spill at a water ride at a Houston Family Sports Fitness Club has led to 12 people being taken to hospital with possible exposure to the chemical, which can cause symptoms including respiratory distress & skin irritation. The Houston Fire Department responded to the incident, which appears to have been caused by over-chlorination, and updated via Twitter that the situation is under control. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists a range of symptoms for exposure to chlorine, which can be relieved by removing the chemical from the body and offering supportive medical care.

A man was hit and killed by a CSX train at a railroad crossing in Tucker, Georgia. Police responded to a 911 call and found the victim dead next to the tracks. The cause of the incident is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

Wildfires in northwestern Quebec have forced the evacuation of around 340 people from Val-Paradis and Beaucanton. An hour and a half was provided for evacuation from the areas close to Ontario, with two fires expected to become one blaze soon. As of Friday, over 6,000 individuals had been ordered to leave their residences in Quebec. The fires have also affected the Quebecois communities of Obedjiwan and Haute-Mauricie. SOPFEU, Quebec’s wilderness firefighting bureau, has requested that outdoor fires not be lit during celebrations of the provincial Fête Nationale holiday on Saturday.

A train derailed and crashed into the Yellowstone River in eastern Montana, causing 10 hazardous chemical cars to fall into the river. Monitoring of air and water quality has begun to check for contamination. The bridge collapse caused Yellowstone Country Disaster and Emergency Services to shut down the river head gates while treatment facilities in Laurel, Billings, Lockwood and irrigation companies shut down in response to hazardous materials. There is no reported threat to life or property. The cause of the bridge collapse is still being determined.
