The health of pastors in the US has significantly declined since 2015, according to a recent study by Barna Group, with 10% reporting below average mental and emotional health in 2022, compared to just 3% in 2015. Meanwhile, 22% of pastors described their physical well-being as poor or below average in 2022, rising from 7% in 2015. Another challenge is loneliness, with 7% of pastors in 2022 saying they have poor friendships, compared to just 2% in 2015, while those rating their overall quality of life as excellent dropped from 39% in 2015 to 11% last year. Burnout can exacerbate these issues as 32% of pastors reported feeling "mentally or emotionally exhausted," up from 21% in 2015.
