The New American: Supreme Court Delivers Left and Right Victories in Two Migration Cases
Supreme Court Delivers Left and Right Victories in Two Migration Cases
The US Supreme Court has ruled 8-1 in favor of the Biden administration's guidelines prioritizing the deportation of violent migrant offenders, while denying the right of Texas and Louisiana to appeal the administration's immigration policy. The states argued that the policy created a strained health care and education system and burden on social services. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorka said he was looking forward to reintroducing the guidelines. Justice Samuel Alito was the only member of the court to dissent, arguing that the facts dictated a duty to compensate the plaintiffs for having borne a burden caused by federal government priorities. The court also ruled 7-2 against the constitutionality of illegal immigration solicitation, with the decision hinging on the definition of proper interpretation. While the case is a victory for immigration hawks, dissenting justices Ketanji Brown Jackson and Sonia Sotomayor held that it violated the right to free speech.

Biden Spokesman Hit with Hard Question About Hunter Biden, Decides to Walk Out Instead of Addressing It
White House spokesman John Kirby refused to answer questions about Hunter Biden’s alleged crimes, instead walking away from the podium during a press conference. Newsmax correspondent James Rosen asked Kirby about recent evidence that suggests Joe Biden knew more about his son’s business dealings than he let on. Rosen cited a WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden in which he mentioned being with his father and revealed knowledge of a business commitment made by a Chinese Communist Party official. Kirby refused to comment on the matter and walked out of the conference, leaving many wondering just how deep Joe Biden's family's dealings go with the US's enemies like China and Ukraine.

Fox News: Baltimore woman, an immigrant from Cuba, is one step closer to sainthood
Baltimore woman, an immigrant from Cuba, is one step closer to sainthood
Venerable Mary Lange, the foundress of the Oblate Sisters of Providence, the first-ever Catholic religious order for women of African descent, has been recognized by the Vatican's Dicastery for the Causes of Saints for her "heroic virtues," bringing her one step closer to canonization in the Roman Catholic Church. Lange, born Elizabeth Lange in Cuba, established a school in Baltimore's Fells Point neighbourhood in the early 1800s because there were no education opportunities for African-American children in that area. Lange's cause for canonization began in 1991 and is still ongoing.

The Oblate Sisters of Providence, the religious organization founded by Venerable Mary Lange, received renewed attention when Sr. Wilhelmina Lancaster, recently exhumed in Missouri and found not to have decomposed in four years, was found to have originally been a member of the organization before moving on to form the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles. Founded nearly three decades before the ordination of the first African-American priest and almost six decades before the ordination of the first widely acknowledged African-American priest, the Oblate Sisters of Providence provided education and nursing to the African-American community and continue to exist as an organization today.

National Review: The Corner: Vindication in Russia, or American Folly?
The Corner: Vindication in Russia, or American Folly?
The situation in Russia is uncertain and information is unreliable; it's too early to determine winners and losers, or assign credit or blame. The US and Western allies can influence what happens next but can't control it, and past efforts to do so have been regretted. Aid to Ukraine may be necessary in the short run, but any effort to influence events in Russia should be non-public and focused on avoiding nuclear proliferation.

DeAndre Hopkins, Dalvin Cook Lead 2nd Wave Of NFL Free Agency
The NFL's second wave of free agency is approaching, with many veteran players available for signing. Running backs such as Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliott are seeking big salaries and may need an injury situation to command that kind of money. DeAndre Hopkins is a gamble at 31 coming off two subpar years, but is still an excellent fit for the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, and Tennessee Titans, with the Pats having the inside track. Teddy Bridgewater, one of the best backup quarterbacks in the game, can adapt to multiple offensive systems quickly and has had talks with the Lions. Look for the Bengals and Dolphins to show the most interest in Elliott.
