Forbes: Blaming The Kremlin For ‘Stupid Meat Assaults,’ Russian Mercenaries Seize The Kremlin’s Logistical Hub For Southern Ukraine
Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of Russia's Wagner Group, ordered his fighters in Ukraine to cross into Russia and take up positions around the headquarters of Russia's Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. Wagner's corporate army peaked at around 50,000 fighters late last year and was the most effective fighting force in the Russian military; however, Prigozhin accused the Kremlin of depriving his fighters of artillery support. As Ukrainian brigades advanced, Prigozhin accused Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu of obscuring Russia’s deepening losses and ultimately rolled towards Rostov-on-Don. This action, which occurred with little or no resistance, places a rogue element in control of the main rail hub for supplies flowing from Russia into southern Ukraine, potentially altering the battlefield dynamics.
