Red State: As Much as It Sucks, the Supreme Court Was Right in the Immigration Case This Week
As Much as It Sucks, the Supreme Court Was Right in the Immigration Case This Week
The Supreme Court ruled that Texas and Louisiana did not have the standing to sue the Biden administration to enforce immigration laws. The majority opinion, written by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, stated that it is not the Court's job to make the Executive Branch do its job. Faithful enforcement of the law is the duty of the executive, and only in unusual cases can courts step in to compel them. It is up to the voters to ensure that the president carries out their constitutional oath to take care that the laws are faithfully executed. Republicans should pursue an aggressive impeachment of Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Flag And Cross: Watch: GOP Reps Torch Durham Over 'Mystery Man' Missing from His Russian Investigation
Watch: GOP Reps Torch Durham Over 'Mystery Man' Missing from His Russian Investigation
Special Counsel John Durham struggled to answer direct questions about why Joseph Mifsud, the key source who started the Russia hoax, doesn't appear in his report on the origins of Crossfire Hurricane. Republican Reps. Thomas Massie and Matt Gaetz asked if Mifsud is associated with a Western intelligence agency. Though Durham's investigators made contact with Mifsud's attorney in Europe, they never tracked down Mifsud himself and couldn't say who he was associated with. This fuelled skepticism about investigators' true purposes and their true efforts to expose the corruption.

The Epoch Times: McCarthy Backs Effort to Expunge Trump's Impeachments
McCarthy Backs Effort to Expunge Trump's Impeachments
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) endorses effort to expunge former President Donald Trump’s two impeachment proceedings from the House. Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) introduced two different resolutions to expunge Trump’s 2019 and 2021 impeachments. McCarthy stated that one of the impeachment efforts was “not based on true facts” and the other proceeded “on the basis of no due process.” Trump is currently facing criminal charges on allegations he mishandled classified national defense information and obstructed government efforts to retrieve that information.

Stefanik's resolution focuses on Trump's second impeachment, alleging he reiterated false claims that he won the 2020 election “by a landslide.” The resolution also argues that Democratic lawmakers had also questioned the trustworthiness of voting machines like those in widespread use during the 2020 election and claims that Trump’s “fight like hell” comment was taken out of context. The move might serve as a symbolic declaration that those impeachments had been in error, but it would not affect the fact that Trump was impeached twice by Congress.

The New American: Man Faces Life in Prison for Owning an Unlicensed Firearm - The New American
Man Faces Life in Prison for Owning an Unlicensed Firearm - The New American
65-year-old Charles Foehner shot and killed Cody Gonzalez, the man attempting to mug him, in self-defense. However, Foehner is not being prosecuted for the killing since it was in self-defense. Instead, he may face life imprisonment for owning unlicensed firearms, though some of the weapons found during a search of his apartment were properly licensed. A judge has set his bail at $50,000 and expressed his concern about the number of shootings in the city. However, laws that deprive innocent citizens of their personal liberty won't deter people intent on committing heinous crimes.

Foehner's potential sentence is longer than the criminal record of Gonzalez, who had at least 15 prior arrests, and exceeds the punishment Gonzalez would have faced had he survived and been prosecuted for his attempted robbery. This case demonstrates the dangers of unconstitutional infringement on the right to bear arms and the misguided idea that removing guns will eliminate shootings. Meanwhile, career criminals who break the law repeatedly get caught on camera trying to rob innocent people, but those who defend themselves using firearms risk life imprisonment.

Mike Pence Challenges Primary Field to Back Abortion Ban at 15 Weeks

Speaking at the Faith and Freedom Coalition, he asserts that the fight for life is the calling of our time and shares his conservative views on the issue of abortion. Pence believes that every Republican candidate should support his 15-week abortion challenge, which he vows to continue advocating for in the days ahead, claiming that the sanctity of life should be at the center of American law in every state.

Forbes: Russia’s Crisis—With Putin Vs. Prigozhin—Explained
Russia’s Crisis—With Putin Vs. Prigozhin—Explained
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused the Wagner Group of "treason," promising to quash its rebellion. The mercenary group fighting on behalf of Russia in Ukraine has claimed control over Russian military facilities in Voronezh and Rostov, Russia’s logistical hub for its invasion of Ukraine, with its leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, a Russian oligarch with previously close ties to Putin, threatening to march some of his 25,000 troops on Moscow. As such, Putin has warned his country of a possible civil war. Most see this as "the most dramatic challenge to Mr. Putin’s rule since he was named Russia’s acting president on Dec. 31, 1999."

Wagner Commander Charged with Armed Rebellion Marches on Moscow
Yevgeny Prigozhin, commander of Russia’s Wagner private army, has called for Russian forces to join his armed rebellion against the nation’s military leadership. Videos on social media showed Prigozhin’s forces storming the headquarters of the Russian military in Rostov-on-Don, with subsequent tweets suggesting he had taken control of the city. Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned Prigozhin, with the mercenary commander facing charges of armed insurrection. Prigozhin claimed his forces were looking for “justice” following the killing of his men in a missile strike by Russian military leadership, but said he was not looking to overthrow Putin’s government.

National Review: The Corner: Failures of Imagination
The Corner: Failures of Imagination
Russia watchers failed to anticipate the coup led by Prigozhin's private army and the Wagner Group's betrayal of their Russian sponsors during the war in Ukraine, leading to a humbling realization that geopolitical events can escape rational prediction. Experts should consider the possibility of even the most inconceivable scenarios, such as Russia withdrawing its forces and turning to a war on regime survival on its own soil or projecting ambiguity about their control of nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, residents of Rostov-on-Don fear for their safety as they become citizens of occupied territory controlled by mutinous rebel groups and remember the destruction of other population centers under Russian-style liberation.

Putin gives presidential address as Russian military commander seeks to overthrow him [VIDEO]
Wagner Private Military Company commander, Yevgeny Prigozhin, is leading a rebellion against Russian President Vladimir Putin due to anger over corruption and incompetence within the military leadership. The Wagner Mercenaries have crossed into Russia and occupied Rostov-on-Don, prompting Putin to address the nation and vow to suppress the rebellion. It is unclear whether anyone is willing to fight a civil war to save the current leadership.

The Epoch Times: Number of US Homes For Sale Plunges to Lowest Level Since 2012
Number of US Homes For Sale Plunges to Lowest Level Since 2012
The US is experiencing a housing shortage due to a lack of homes for sale. Redfin reports that the number of houses sold is down 38.6% compared to May 2019, and the number of new listings fell 25.2% year-on-year. Persistently high mortgage rates are partly to blame; the national median home sales price was $419,103 in May, with Redfin Chief Economist Daryl Fairweather warning that prices could fall further if interest rates continue to rise. While mortgage loan applications rose slightly later in June, the lack of existing homes for sale is making it difficult for consumers to get on the housing ladder.

The Epoch Times: US Holds Nuclear Weapons Dialogue With China, Russia, France, UK
US Holds Nuclear Weapons Dialogue With China, Russia, France, UK
Experts from the US, China, France, UK and Russia held a working-level meeting to discuss “strategic risk reduction” and nuclear doctrine and policy. The US delegation said the meeting provided a routine, continuing opportunity for exchanges between nuclear weapons states. Belarus has become the first country to house Russia's tactical nuclear warheads since the fall of the Soviet Union, half a century ago. The move marks Russia's first deployment of such warheads, which are less powerful and shorter ranged than the traditional nuclear arsenal, outside its borders. Putin has said that the deployment will act as a military deterrent to NATO support of Ukraine.
