Josh Hawley: Energy Secretary Granholm Must Answer Why She Lied About Holding Stocks
Senator Josh Hawley has called for Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to appear before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee to explain why she falsely claimed she did not hold stocks despite saying she and her husband owned individual stocks in companies her department oversees. Hawley has written to the committee’s chairman, Senator Joe Manchin, to request an oversight hearing be held into Granholm’s testimony, writing that her case is “disturbing.” He highlighted the systemic problems with energy department ethics compliance and called for a discussion on how senior officials can comply with federal ethics laws. In 2021, Granholm reportedly violated the STOCK Act by failing to properly report nine stock trades.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to ask President Biden if he was present when Hunter demanded payment, and reporters bombarded Jean-Pierre and National Security Council coordinator John Kirby with questions about Biden's connection to Hunter's overseas business dealings.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland denied claims that U.S. Attorney David Weiss was blocked from bringing charges against Hunter Biden and refused to designate Weiss as a special counsel in the case. Garland said Weiss was given complete authority to make all decisions on his own and had more authority than a special counsel would have had. The Attorney General also addressed allegations from IRS whistleblowers and stated that he supports Weiss addressing them publicly when he deems it appropriate.

Foreign Policy: Guatemala’s Controversial Presidential Election
Guatemala’s Controversial Presidential Election
Guatemala's upcoming general election on Sunday has only three predetermined candidates due to the disqualification of serious challengers. Sandra Torres, a former first lady from the National Unity of Hope party, is leading the polls with promises of expanding social welfare programs, followed by conservative former diplomat Edmond Mulet and Zury Ríos of the Valor party, daughter of a former Guatemalan dictator. The election lacks electoral integrity, according to Foreign Policy, as leading opposition candidates have been barred from the race by an electoral court that is seen to be neutralizing true threats to the status quo.

He emphasized the importance of protecting the First Amendment and free speech, claiming the lawsuit is crucial in preserving Americans’ right to free, fair, and open debate.

The New American: Starbucks Pays Big for Anti-white Discrimination. But Has Big Business Learned Its Lesson? - The New American
Starbucks Pays Big for Anti-white Discrimination. But Has Big Business Learned Its Lesson? - The New American
Starbucks has been ordered to pay $25.6 million in damages to a white former employee who was fired because of her race. The ex-regional manager was blamed after two black men were arrested for loitering at a Philadelphia Starbucks and refusing to leave when asked. However, despite several similar court rulings, woke attitudes and anti-white discrimination are still prevalent in corporate America, as well as society in general. Companies continue to create policies that benefit people of color at the expense of white employees and give preference to anti-white propaganda. The cultural wind is still against white people, and pseudo-elites continue to nurture an inherently anti-white spirit of the age. This won't change until the spirit of the age changes, but there are undercurrents of white identity politics at the polls, and there is a possibility of a rise in white nationalism.

Forbes: Will NAIC Insurance Regulators In U.S. Import Harmful European Rules?
Will NAIC Insurance Regulators In U.S. Import Harmful European Rules?
Powerful policymakers overseeing the US insurance industry are on the verge of pushing through a disastrous rule for US insurers strikingly similar to European regulations that have played a significant role in Europe's economic malaise. The proposal could very soon hike the capital charges for equities held by US insurers to a level comparable with the Solvency II directive. The US insurance market is primarily regulated by states, and any rule the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) comes up with will likely have a substantial impact on the entire US insurance market. An insurance industry insider in the US confirms that, as currently proposed, the rule's "increased charge could apply to residual interests in private equity funds, real estate joint ventures, and other investments that have been widely held for decades by the most stable of American insurance companies."

The US Supreme Court has ruled that customer disputes with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase should not move forward in lower courts while appellate courts rule on the company's request to divert cases to arbitration panels. The decision reinforces the ability of companies to direct customer disputes to arbitration rather than the court system. Coinbase appealed against the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit's decision to refuse requests to move class-action lawsuits to arbitration.

The fire burned over 100 acres during three days in June 2020, but no one was injured and no structures were destroyed. The state alleges the family was also responsible for another fire three days prior to the wildfire.
