National Review: Broader Scope for Conservation Leasing Would Improve Federal Land Management
The Biden administration has proposed a rule for conservation leasing of federal public lands that would allow environmental groups or other parties to lease acreage in "areas of environmental concern" and help protect the land. However, the proposed rule needs important revisions to clarify conservation use and manage conflicts with other uses like infrastructure, wildfires, and wildlife. Although conservation leasing may generate revenue and improve federal land management, the bureaucracy needs to be more nimble and adaptable to new values. The program would also benefit from citizen nominations and auction mechanisms to elicit differing environmental values.
Fox News: Billionaire Dem donor flew top Biden official to secret ritzy retreat on private jet
Former Google CEO and Democratic donor Eric Schmidt flew former top science adviser to President Biden, Eric Lander, and his family to a retreat in Montana on a private jet managed by Schmidt Futures, according to internal emails obtained by watchdog group Protect the Public's Trust. Lander reimbursed the expense and the White House counsel's office approved the trip, but PPT Director Michael Chamberlain expressed concern about the optics of the situation. American Thinker: The Trump trial problem hiding in plain sight
The problem with the Trump documents case is ensuring an impartial jury. Although indicted under the Espionage Act, the charges do not include actual espionage, which may prejudice a jury due to the word's association with egregious betrayal. Furthermore, the FBI's misleading depiction of dozens of boxes transporting classified documents from the White House to Mar-a-Lago contrasts with the reality of only 102 questioned documents. The sight of all these boxes and the misleading impression they create could prejudice a jury, making it challenging to assemble an impartial one.
American Thinker: RFK Jr. A ‘threat to our democracy,’ proclaims the Los Angeles Times
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential bid has earned him criticism from leftists who claim that his views are dangerous and liken him to Trump. Writers Michael Hiltzik and Robin Abcarian of the Los Angeles Times have taken issue with his beliefs, which include sealing the southern border, examining the connection between antidepressants and mass shootings, and questioning the safety of COVID-19 vaccines. Despite being a Democrat, Kennedy's views threaten the power of the elite and make him an unwelcome candidate.

Forbes: As Congress Dithers, Coinbase Turns To The Courts To Save Crypto
Two legal battles between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Coinbase, the largest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange, could have a significant impact on determining the future of cryptocurrency trading in the country. Coinbase's Chief Legal Officer, Paul Grewal, stated that the industry is prepared to rely upon the courts, explaining that "arbitrary and capricious enforcement action as the sole means by which crypto in the US is regulated" is unsustainable. As the industry tries to disrupt traditional finance, though fraught with malfeasance, regulators have tried to reel in the crypto business through ad hoc enforcement instead of deliberate rulemaking. Resulting court cases could clarify the legal status of digital assets, or force politicians to develop new laws and regulations.

Flag And Cross: Northeast To Face Active Weather Pattern, Relief For Drought Expected
An active weather pattern is expected to bring relief to the Northeast after weeks of dryness, with daily showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the next week. The wet pattern could reverse the moderate drought conditions developing across parts of the area, and could bring between 2 and 4 inches of rain to some locations. While some individuals may experience a brief cooling down, high temperatures are likely to climb back into the 80s F for much of the region by the weekend. The Canadian wildfires may cause reduced air quality in areas from Wisconsin to northern Ohio.
