Foreign Policy: The EU Is Building the Wall—at Least in Law
The EU Is Building the Wall—at Least in Law
The EU is on track to pass a new immigration plan that includes an accelerated, tougher procedure for some asylum-seekers, looser rules for the expulsion of rejected applicants, and the transfer of around 30,000 asylum-seekers per year from front-line countries to other members of the bloc. Member states that do not want to participate in the scheme will have to pay a fee of 20,000 euros for each person they do not accept. Critics say the proposals threaten to worsen, rather than improve, the deficiencies and human rights violations within the EU asylum system. The fast-track procedure agreed by EU interior ministers in Brussels earlier this month would entail front-line countries setting up new detention centers at the borders, with a capacity of around 30,000, to quickly process asylum-seekers with lower chances of success. It remains to be seen how effective this model will be, and the implementation of some parts of the plan may face a bumpy road.

It’s Time The White House Press Corps Demands Biden’s Spokesman Be Fired
Biden's press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, was hammered by reporters during the daily briefing, particularly regarding Hunter Biden's business dealings. The Corner: Can Trump Be Defeated If You Never Say His Name?
DeSantis pushes back against Trump's COVID attacks, saying comparisons between Florida and Cuomo's handling of the pandemic are "full of it". He avoids directly naming Trump, following the norm among Republicans to avoid criticizing him directly.

Meanwhile, Chris Christie takes a different approach, openly criticizing Trump's character at a Faith & Freedom event and standing up for his beliefs, despite the potential backlash from some Republican voters. He is likely to gain credit from some voters for his willingness to speak his mind. (, )

National Review: Kirby Has Tense Exchange with Reporter over Hunter Biden Questions
Kirby Has Tense Exchange with Reporter over Hunter Biden Questions
National Security Council coordinator John Kirby refused to answer questions from Newsmax reporter James Rosen about a 2017 WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to a Chinese associate that reportedly shows President Biden being involved in Hunter's foreign business dealings. The message raises questions about the president's claims to not have been involved in his son's overseas business. Kirby shut down questioning and refused to address the issue. The White House Counsel’s Office stated that the president was not in business with his son and that the Justice Department makes decisions in criminal investigations independently. An attorney for Hunter Biden claimed any actions or words were solely his own.

Attorney for IRS whistleblower on Hunter Biden allegations: This is credible, comes from a credible source
The House Ways and Means Committee released testimony from two IRS whistleblowers who say the Justice Department, FBI and IRS interfered with the investigation of the tax evasion case against Hunter Biden. One whistleblower said the decisions in the case seemed to be "influenced by politics.” Prosecutors ignored evidence and blocked agents from following leads, including key evidence obtained from Hunter’s iCloud account including a WhatsApp message written by Hunter Biden. This message was sent to CCP official Henry Zhao in 2017 trying to collect on a “commitment” and threatening Zhao that if he did not follow through, he would “make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction.”

AG Garland: Accusing DOJ of Misconduct is an "Attack on Democracy"
Attorney General Garland warns that criticizing the DOJ's handling of the Biden investigations is an attack on democracy and the safety of the American people. Democrats and their media have equated their party with democracy, leading them to censor dissenting views and treat criticism as an insurrection and form of subversion. AG Garland's statement suggests that those who criticize the DOJ's coverup of Biden corruption will be treated like enemies of the state to be suppressed.

Red State: NEW: Bank Records Show Bidens Received Huge Payment After Chinese Shakedown, Leave One Gaping Question
NEW: Bank Records Show Bidens Received Huge Payment After Chinese Shakedown, Leave One Gaping Question
Hunter Biden allegedly shook down Chinese officials for a "commitment," saying his "father" was in the room and would exact retribution if it wasn't honored. Senate investigators found $5.1 million was later wired to Hunter within 10 days, some of which was sent to a consulting firm run by his uncle, James Biden. The activity was flagged by James' bank for possible money laundering and the account was closed. The Senate report raises questions about what exactly the Biden family promised the Chinese officials to demand so much cash, and whether any of it was meant for Joe Biden.

Moms for Liberty and California: Two sides in the war for America’s children
Conservatives accuse Democrats of aligning with Hitler, Stalin, and Mao based on policy similarities; leftists are now going after those who use those quotes inartfully, whilst California pushes for an initiative that allows therapists to sign off on admission to state-run housing facilities without parental notification. Lenin's philosophy of 'give me just one generation of youth' has proved true in both Nazi Germany, and now seemingly left-wing America, where indoctrination of leftist values has taken a powerful hold in schools across the country (, , ).

Flag And Cross: Glucocorticoids Fuel Protein Linked To Poorer Cancer Outcomes
Glucocorticoids Fuel Protein Linked To Poorer Cancer Outcomes
Glucocorticoids, which are commonly prescribed for conditions such as arthritis and asthma, may impede cancer immunotherapy, according to researchers. Glucocorticoids produce protein CyC which impairs the effectiveness of immunotherapy in combating tumours. CyC production was linked with a lower chance of surviving cancer overall and reduced benefits from treatment. In experiments where the gene producing CyC was eliminated, tumours grew more slowly, indicating that targeting the protein might enhance success. The research offers a potential explanation for why immunotherapy fails to work in some cases.

Some players cited religious beliefs, while others referred to Russia's anti-homosexual laws, as reasons for not wearing the Pride jerseys. The You Can Play organization said the decision would prevent over 95% of players who chose to wear a Pride jersey from doing so, while co-managing director of Octagon Hockey, Allan Walsh, described the NHL's decision as "gutless" and criticised its effect on all special nights, including Military Appreciation and Black History nights.

No one was hurt nor was there any damage to the boats. This incident follows a similar one where an orca attacked a seven-ton yacht off the Shetland Islands in Scotland on Monday, and it is part of an increase in killer whale attacks on boats, according to several studies.

The Epoch Times: 'Diversity' Instead of Competence
'Diversity' Instead of Competence
OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush's comments on not hiring "50-year-old white guys" for his submersible team are called into question, since the need for experienced submariners is crucial for safely designing a submersible. This statement shows that Rush is assessing the right individual for the job based on identification with a particular group instead of their competence. A recent incident involving a wrecker driver/operator highlights the importance of experience and skill in specialized fields, rather than age or cultural identifiers.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration wants to increase the areas and types of vessels that must slow down in order to protect the endangered North Atlantic right whale. Carter's bill would prohibit NOAA from spending federal funds on slowing vessels until the Department of Commerce implements new technology to monitor Atlantic waters, in order to protect the whales without disrupting fishing and port traffic.
