Fox News: Malaysia charges 4 Thais over mass graves and human trafficking camps found in 2015
Malaysia charges 4 Thais over mass graves and human trafficking camps found in 2015
Four Thai nationals have been charged under Malaysia's anti-trafficking laws in connection with the discovery of mass graves in 2015. The graves were found near the Malaysia-Thailand border and are believed to contain the remains of Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshis. The four men have been extradited from Thailand to face charges after cooperation between the two countries' authorities.

The four men were among 10 Thai citizens sought for extradition in 2017 in connection with the tragedy at Wang Kelian, where human smugglers held people captive for years while extorting ransoms from their families. Most victims were members of Myanmar’s persecuted Rohingya minority or impoverished migrants from Bangladesh. The four men are charged with human trafficking, which carries up to 15 years imprisonment upon conviction.

Supreme Court Makes Decision On Republican AG’s Challenge To Biden Deportation Policy
Texas and Louisiana challenge to overturn Biden's deportation policy was rejected by the Supreme Court. The suit argued that Biden's policy violates federal law by focusing primarily on the deportation of those with criminal convictions or terrorist connections. The majority opinion stated that federal courts have not traditionally entertained that kind of lawsuit. Justice Alito dissented, arguing that the decision could prevent states from protecting their “vital interests."

Fox News: NASA objects to lithium mining at Nevada desert site vital for satellite calibration
NASA objects to lithium mining at Nevada desert site vital for satellite calibration
NASA has requested the protection of a Nevada lakebed rich in lithium, as it serves as a vital calibration site for satellite measurements. The Bureau of Land Management has withdrawn the land from potential mining to preserve its undisturbed nature, despite ongoing opposition from environmentalists, tribal leaders, and ranchers. Critics have noted the paradox that the metal needed for electric vehicles, which are key to reducing greenhouse gases, is buried beneath land that must remain undisturbed to certify the accuracy of satellites monitoring Earth's warming atmosphere.

Trump supporters accused Fox News of being in cahoots with the Justice Department to entrap Trump, but Baier responded by denying the accusation and stating that he wrote his own questions.

The Blaze: California Democrats want therapists to be able to counsel 12-year-olds on gender identity and sign off on their admission to shelters without parental consent — even if there's no abuse at home
California Democrats want therapists to be able to counsel 12-year-olds on gender identity and sign off on their admission to shelters without parental consent — even if there's no abuse at home
California Democrats are pushing a bill that would allow therapists to approve the admission of children as young as 12 into state-run housing facilities, even without notifying their families, if they are deemed mature enough to participate in an outpatient or residential counselling on gender identity. The bill eliminates the requirement that the minor is in danger of harm, self-inflicted or otherwise. Critics see the legislation as a "horrifying loophole" that facilitates child emancipation, while opponents warn that AB655 undermines the rights of parents to make informed decisions on their children's welfare.

Foreign Policy: Japan’s Stock Market Is Finally Back to 1990 Levels
Japan’s Stock Market Is Finally Back to 1990 Levels
Japan's economy is on the rise, with deflationary concerns dissipating and the stock market climbing towards record highs. The surge in inflation, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, has created a cycle between inflation and wages that is driving the economic growth. The recovery has been helped along by the involvement of activist investors and the recovery of real estate values, which is attracting foreign investment. However, the average Japanese person is being left behind, as gains are being outstripped by inflation, leading to a continued decline in real wages. Despite this, foreign investors are still looking to take advantage of the opportunities in Japan's growing economy.

Foreign Policy: Don’t Believe Modi's Economic Success Story
Don’t Believe Modi's Economic Success Story
Joe Biden, previously critical of the Modi government's human rights record, has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a state visit this week. However, critics argue that Modi's India cannot sustain the country as it separates from Chinese manufacturing and decouples from Chinese supply chains. Despite past promises to boost manufacturing and create jobs, India's manufacturing sector has failed to grow, and the country is stuck in a jobless growth trap with low labor participation and human capital. Additionally, Modi's policies prioritize wealth over health, with a refusal to invest in primary healthcare resulting in sickness that knocks millions out of the workplace.

NHL Takes Cowardly Approach By Backing Off Pride Night Warm Up Jerseys
The NHL has eliminated Pride jerseys worn during warmups due to concerns from players, including Russian expatriates worried about repercussions for their families, and non-Russian players citing religious beliefs. The Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks canceled Pride Night warmups. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman explained that the league will still celebrate Pride and other theme nights while expressing support for LGBTQ causes but would not feature players wearing warmups in support of those causes, nor for military appreciation and Hockey Fights Cancer. Critics argue that the NHL is backing away from supporting gay, black, indigenous and other players with such a decision, calling it a "cowardly approach to doing business".

'Titanic' director James Cameron reveals he 'knew the truth' Monday morning about submarine disaster

The US Coast Guard recently found a "debris field" near the wreckage. Cameron expressed his regret of not having spoken out on the danger of the OceanGate's Titan submersible and compared it to the Titanic, where the captain repeatedly ignored warnings and lead to the death of many. OceanGate CEO, Stockton Rush, had dismissed safety concerns regarding the sub in November.

The money is available to those claiming domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and/or human trafficking, who do not have to prove they are survivors. Applicants must be at or below 300% of the poverty level. However, defense attorney Scott Greenfield warned that providing free money to those claiming survivorship could encourage false accusations.

Red State: The Next Big Thing in Urban Planning: Wood
The Next Big Thing in Urban Planning: Wood
Urban development company Atrium Ljungberg plans to build the world's largest wooden city in Stockholm, using timber to alleviate environmental challenges faced by Swedish cities. Construction will begin in 2025, with the first buildings completed by 2027, and the project aims to redefine sustainability, innovation and aesthetic excellence. Timber construction results in fewer carbon emissions than steel and concrete and produces fewer pollutants; it is also fireproof. While the real advantage to the wood city is its reduction in overall emissions, it is unclear how wooden buildings will produce fewer emissions than other structures.
