PJ Media: Joe Biden Is Not Ok
President Biden's wacky sayings and inability to articulate simple ideas without notes have led to questions about his mental acuity. From botching old-timey sayings to making complete gibberish statements, the president's quirky aphorisms are often weaponized by Republicans to insinuate his mental decline. Despite the lack of fact-checking or discussion about his competency, there are concerns about his ability to govern the country. As the oldest elected president in history, Biden's deteriorating mental acuity has become a cause for concern, and his frequent nonsensical statements are only fueling debates about his fitness for office.
Fox News: House Ethics issues 30 subpoenas in George Santos investigation
The House Ethics Committee's investigation into Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., will expand to include allegations that the embattled congressman fraudulently obtained unemployment insurance benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic. The committee has issued over 30 subpoenas and more than 40 voluntary requests for information related to the Santos probe since its formation in February. Santos faces a 13-count federal indictment that includes charges of fraud, money laundering, and theft of public funds.
Federal prosecutors allege that Santos claimed unemployment benefits while receiving a $120,000 salary as a regional director at an investment firm and that he pocketed tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions, laundering it into his personal bank accounts. Santos pleaded not guilty to the charges and has maintained his innocence even as some of his House colleagues have demanded Santos be expelled from Congress. The Ethics panel is actively working to resolve the matter.
PJ Media: IRS Whistleblower Says Justice Department Slowed and Stymied the Hunter Biden Tax Investigation
Justice Department allegedly impeded and lied about the IRS investigation into Hunter Biden, according to IRS agent Gary Shapley who supervised the probe. Shapley’s testimony contradicts Attorney General Merrick Garland’s claims that Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss had full authority over the investigation. Shapley’s allegations indicate Hunter Biden’s misuse of his father’s status to extract benefits from business partners. The revelations have significant political implications for President Biden.
Two IRS agents, including Shapley, have implicated the Justice Department for stifling and manipulating the Hunter Biden tax investigation. They allege that the IRS probe was tainted by political favoritism and corruption, and Attorney General Garland lied under oath before Congress. Shapley also provided evidence of Hunter Biden’s alleged illegal activities, including tax evasion and misuse of business funds. The allegations also suggest that the current US justice system is under threat from political interference and manipulation.
Fox News: Media runs cover for censured Adam Schiff after top Dem used news outlets to promote Russiagate
House Republicans censured Rep. Adam Schiff for repeatedly claiming he had seen "evidence" of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election. Despite the collapse of the Russiagate narrative, Schiff found refuge among the liberal press, many of whom had reason to believe his claim was credible. Legacy media outlets have been running cover for Schiff since the censure, obscuring the reasoning behind the historic censure and framing it as a politically motivated attack.

Forbes: OceanGate’s Directors Will Consider Firm’s ‘Survival’ As Titanic Sub Expedition Proves Deadly, Co-Founder Says
Executives of OceanGate have been warned of the company's survival after the presumed implosion of its Titan submersible during a scheduled trip to the wreckage of the Titanic. Guillermo Sohnlein, a minority shareholder, has stated that the company's future remains uncertain as directors consider its survival in the aftermath of CEO Stockton Rush's death and the death of four others. Following the disaster, the company's website was shut down, and criticisms over negligence have emerged with suggestions that the submersible's experimental nature and safety concerns were known by OceanGate, despite warnings from industry professionals.
The Titan submersible, operated by OceanGate, has lost contact with above-ground coordinators and those inside the vessel are presumed dead as debris was discovered near the wreck of the Titanic. The U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, and Canadian Coast Guard launched a search-and-rescue operation for the vessel. Former Harvard physics instructor Michael Guillen questioned the Titan sub's design and compared it to the one used by the company with which he previously traveled. Created for the purpose of tourism, it is questionable whether the submersible is fit for waters at such a depth.

The Epoch Times: Death Threats and Bomb Scares
Transnational repression by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is on the rise globally. The CCP targets critics, dissidents, and activists abroad, sending threatening letters and using physical intimidation to pressure them and their families into returning to China. The CCP also operates police stations in over 50 countries around the world, which are used to collect intelligence and forcibly repatriate Chinese dissidents to China to be imprisoned. Cooperation with totalitarianism is dangerous for democracy, and democracies must take the strongest possible steps against transnational repression by the CCP.

PJ Media: Report: U.S. Navy Heard Submersible's Implosion Just Hours After Launch
Top-secret Navy devices detected an implosion near the Titanic's final resting place less than two hours after submarine Titan launched, indicating that there was no hope of finding the five-man crew alive; the Navy likely knew this, but continued the "rescue" search anyway. Although no conclusive evidence of a failure was found, it would have been "irresponsible" to immediately assume the five men were dead. Some think that the construction with carbon-fiber composites, which have "no strength in compression," was a design flaw that ultimately caused the sub to implode.

Comedy-loving audiences have been desperately waiting for something to find funny that doesn't comport with the commissariat's directives.

The Blaze: Hunter Biden deducted prostitutes and sex club from his taxes, possibly violated sex-trafficking laws, says IRS whistleblower
Hunter Biden allegedly deducted payments to prostitutes and a sex club from his taxes, according to IRS whistleblowers, who also accused the Biden administration of obstructing the criminal investigation into him. The whistleblowers claim that Hunter booked flights and paid for prostitutes, and sometimes expensed the payments to Owasco P.C., a company of which he is the director. Damon Lawner, the founder of a Beverly Hills sex club, stated that Biden had been a member, but that his membership had been canceled after one party because he was a “scumbag”. The IRS is investigating whether Biden broke sex-trafficking laws.

The Epoch Times: Musk, Zuckerberg 'Dead Serious' About Cage Fight in UFC Octagon: Dana White
Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk are reportedly considering a UFC cage match, with the event potentially being the "biggest fight ever in the history of the world", according to UFC President Dana White. White stated that both are "absolutely dead serious" and interested in participating in the fight to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars for charity. The rumour began circulating a few days after it was revealed that Zuckerberg was creating an app similar to Twitter, which Musk bought for $44bn in 2022. The new app, created by Meta Platforms and based on Instagram, would integrate with ActivityPub, the decentralised social media protocol.
Musk publicly responded to the news of the app by calling out Zuckerberg to a battle, and Zuckerberg by sharing a screenshot of Musk's tweet in an Instagram story, implying that the challenge was on. The odds of who might win the fight are already being discussed, with some sports betting platforms proclaiming Zuckerberg the favourite at 56%, however, Owain Flanders, news editor at VegasSlotsOnline.com, has put the odds at 3-to-2 in favour of Musk, citing Musk's preparation for space travel as making him a formidable opponent. Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, has encouraged the event to go ahead, stating that it would be "the biggest fight in UFC history," while others have noted that this is not the first time the two have made public digs at each other.

Daily Wire: U.S. Navy Detected Titan Implosion Hours After Voyage Began, So What Were Those ‘Banging’ Noises Heard By Rescue Teams?
After the US Coast Guard confirmed that all five passengers aboard the submersible, Titan, had died due to implosion, questions remain about the noises identified days after the search began. The US Navy detected the implosion upon finding out that the sub had gone dark, but it was still unclear what caused the subsequent banging noises, which might have come from humans, machines, or animals in the ocean. Experts do not believe the noises were made by those on the sub, but more investigation is still needed.
The area around the Titanic wreck was searched by ships, sonobuoys, and remote-operated vehicles, and experts started analyzing any recordings immediately after sounds were detected. Several theories emerged, such as the noises coming from a variety of sea creatures or maritime vessels, but it will take the US Coast Guard, along with the French and Canadian governments, weeks to investigate the incident fully. OceanGate CEO and founder Stockton Rush was piloting the submersible and was joined by billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, British businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a French seabed expert, with decades of experience diving to Titanic wreckage.

The Epoch Times: Similarity Is ‘Surreal’: James Cameron Breaks Silence on Titan Submarine Tragedy
The director of "Titanic," James Cameron, has drawn parallels between the recent Titan submarine disaster and the sunken Titanic, citing safety concerns and similarities in the failure of warnings being heeded. The sub was carrying OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, leading Titanic expert Paul-Henry Nargeolet, businessman Shahzada and Suleman Dawood from Pakistan, and adventurer Hamish Harding from Britain. The five passengers in the Titan submersible are presumed dead. Cameron is not the first to raise concerns about OceanGate's operations.

Breitbart: EU Tells Twitter it Wants to See More Censorship
Elon Musk has been warned by the EU's tech watchdog that Twitter must be capable of moderating dangerous content by August 25th or it may violate new regulations designed to reign in big tech. The warning came after a meeting with the EU Commissioner at Twitter's headquarters, where Musk participated via video conference from New York. Breton told reporters that there were "a few areas that will be critical immediately when the regulation will be enforceable," including child abuse and disinformation in elections. The EU's new Digital Service Act (DSA), which is due to come into full force soon, will affect the world's biggest platforms including Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter.
DSA is considered one of the most ambitious legislation on controlling online content since the advent of social media. Under the regulations, 19 platforms have been designated as "Very Large Online Platforms," subject to specific rules from August 25th. The DSA requires Meta, Twitter, and others to provide officials and researchers unprecedented access to their algorithms and content decisions, which will be particularly difficult for Meta that since the 2018 Cambridge Analytica data breach has limited third party access. Breaches of DSA rules could also see tech giants being banned from the EU or slapped with fines as high as six percent of annual turnover, requiring investment in building compliance teams when companies have been cutting staff, including content moderation.

Flag And Cross: Texas Faces Record Power Demand Amid Triple-digit Temperatures
ERCOT has requested Texans to voluntarily conserve power due to record-high temperatures and increased demand causing strain on the electric grid. Though no emergency status has been issued, ERCOT had declared a “weather watch” last week to warn of possible significant weather. On Tuesday, electric demand broke June 2022’s record, impacting ERCOT’s operations as the state operates as an electricity island. The rising demand, coupled with next week's forecast of all-time high temperatures, means electric customers may see a rise in electricity prices on their bills next month.
