Foreign Policy: Europe’s Migration Apartheid Is Killing Asylum Seekers
Europe’s Migration Apartheid Is Killing Asylum Seekers
The tragic shipwreck off the coast of Pylos, Greece is evidence of the banal violence of EU migration policy and the human cost of border militarization. The absence of effective rescue for the vessel highlights questions of who exactly refused assistance, whether a referendum was conducted, and why the coastguard was taking orders from smugglers. The EU's response to asylum, through border militarization, detention centers, and deportations, only enriches smuggling networks and does not manage the movement of people in a dignified and orderly fashion. This tragedy was the foreseeable consequence of bad decisions and misplaced priorities that prioritized deterrence over human life.

The Federalist: Noted Constitutional Scholar Biden Explains The 2nd Amendment
Noted Constitutional Scholar Biden Explains The 2nd Amendment
Joe Biden's speech on gun control contained falsehoods, including misattributing a quote from Thomas Jefferson. Biden also claimed that the Second Amendment doesn't allow Americans to own certain weapons; however, the founders intended citizens to own "weapons of war" as a bulwark against those who would strip them of inalienable liberties. Furthermore, the AR-15 is not a weapon of war, and Biden's argument that the government could simply scramble F-16s and murder individuals and their loved ones is alarming. Biden's claim of being a "Second Amendment guy" is inaccurate, as he has supported gun restriction legislation since the 1990s.

American Thinker: Will the Grand Jury Fall for the Hunter Biden Theatrics?
Will the Grand Jury Fall for the Hunter Biden Theatrics?
Hunter Biden has reached an agreement with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to two tax misdemeanors and his felony firearm possession charge will effectively be dismissed. This form of resolution is exceptionally rare and has only been offered to 1 percent of cases filed. Democrats are using the announcement to persuade grand jury members that the DOJ has a genuine case against Donald Trump, who is facing the non-crime of possessing classified documents.

Fox News: WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich's appeal denied by Russian court
WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich's appeal denied by Russian court
The Wall Street Journal's Evan Gershkovich will remain in Russian detention until August after an appeal to be released was denied. Gershkovich, who has been charged with espionage while reporting in Russia, has been described as wrongfully detained by the US government. Russia has refused to release the reporter into American custody.

The Russian government's Federal Security Service arrested Gershkovich in March, accusing him of attempting to obtain secret information on one of the enterprises connected to Russia's military industrial complex. If found guilty, he faces up to 20 years in jail. The State Department issued sanctions against the Federal Security Service in April over the journalist's detainment.

Fox News: Censured media darling Adam Schiff used liberal TV platforms to peddle 'collusion' claims for years
Censured media darling Adam Schiff used liberal TV platforms to peddle 'collusion' claims for years
Republicans censured Rep. Adam Schiff for repeatedly claiming he saw evidence of collusion between Trump's campaign and Russia during the 2016 election, even after Special Counsel John Durham concluded last month that there was no evidence of such collusion. Schiff had unprecedented access to top secrets and was a media darling during the Mueller probe that plagued Trump's presidency. However, after years-long investigations by Mueller and Durham, what evidence Schiff saw that they did not remains unclear. Schiff shifted his rhetoric towards his Russian collusion claims to saying the evidence was "in plain sight."

Fox News: Soros cash fuels big wins for progressive prosecutors in Virginia primaries
Soros cash fuels big wins for progressive prosecutors in Virginia primaries
George Soros-backed progressive prosecutors win primary contests in Virginia, including Arlington-Falls Church Commonwealth Attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti and Fairfax County Attorney Steve Descano who received over $350,000 in funding from Soros-backed committees. Loudoun County Prosecutor Buta Biberaj, also backed by Soros, won against primary opponent Elizabeth Lancaster. The prosecutors promise radical changes in criminal justice, including ending cash bail, drug criminalization, and defying anti-abortion laws. Critics worry about their perceived soft-on-crime policies, while defenders of the prosecutors claim that they reflect a broader trend towards reform.

NC State swim star Kylee Alons changed in storage closet during 2022 NCAA Championships: rep
Swimming star Kylee Alons changed in a storage closet at the 2022 NCAA Championships due to the presence of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas in the women's locker room, according to Republican Rep. Greg Steube's tweet. Thomas won a national title as the first transgender woman swimmer that year. Another North Carolina State swimmer, Riley Gaines, testified at a Senate hearing against Thomas, saying female swimmers felt violated by having to share a locker room with her. The hearing also debated the fairness of transgender athletes competing against those of their assigned gender at sports competitions.

National Review: Women-Only Spaces Must Resist the Transgender Assault
Women-Only Spaces Must Resist the Transgender Assault
Women's rights are being jeopardized as society forces people to ignore basic physical differences between men and women. Men identifying as women are being granted access to women's spaces, eroding the sanctity and purpose of these places. Kappa Kappa Gamma has found itself in a fight after university women were bullied into accepting a man claiming to be a woman into their sisterhood. Men claiming to identify as women are being granted access to women’s spaces and opportunities, effectively eroding the sanctity and very purpose of these places. This is not about diversity, but misogyny. Women must unite nationwide against this assault on women .

American Thinker: What would Andy Warhol have made of The New Yorker's Pride month issue?
What would Andy Warhol have made of The New Yorker's Pride month issue?
The New Yorker's June 12 cover titled "The Look of Pride" features a cartoon figure with a mohawk haircut and picking a tooth with a long yellow fingernail. The cover reflects a new incoherent message from the LGBT Movement that is bizarre and presents them as being better than others, leading to a potential dystopia, governed by someone very like the Antichrist.

Russian court rejects appeal for release of American journalist Evan Gershkovich; US government demands his release back into American custody. Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter, was arrested on charges of espionage while reporting in Russia and will remain in detention until August. Experts suggest Putin is using Gershkovick to push a narrative about the US trying to destabilize Russia.

National Review: When a Shareholder Is Not a Shareholder
When a Shareholder Is Not a Shareholder
The separation of ownership and management in corporations leads to a principal-agent problem where managers prioritize their interests over owners'. Managerial opportunism can lead to corruption, wasting resources, and destroying shareholder value. The dilution-of-ownership problem makes it difficult for shareholders to discipline self-serving managers. The mutual-fund industry, which controls trillions of dollars of people's money, exacerbates this problem with double-dilution-of-ownership. Investment management groups are trying to devolve some voting power to underlying investors, but market-based solutions may be more effective in curbing opportunistic managerial behavior.

Shares Ease, Dollar Steady in Central-Bank Heavy Day
Global shares decreased as the potential for further U.S. interest rate hikes triggered by Fed Chair Jerome Powell's statement led to traders' hesitance. The MSCI All-World index was set for its fifth successive decline. A 25-basis point (bps) hike next month was expected with no further hikes after that, according to the CME FedWatch tool. Despite this, some believe a further 50bps hike could be in order due to the acceleration of core inflation. The Bank of England, which is facing its own potential rate hike, is up next.

The Epoch Times: Even Two More Rate Hikes Might Not Be the End
Even Two More Rate Hikes Might Not Be the End
The Federal Reserve's dot plot suggests two more hikes by year-end, but the market expects only one. The Fed has a track record of revising the dots upward many times before, raising these further above the mode rate of funds is likely an option. However, recent experience shows the “expiry date” of the Fed’s dot plot is very short, so they can change their mind as soon as a few days after the Federal Open Market Committee meeting.

Although recent overall CPI YoY fell, the core inflation persistence is worse than that in the mid-1970s, currently above 5%. Based on the experience of the mid-1970s, when inflation became high, say over 5%, an even higher policy rate by 2-3% still took exactly 1.5 years to bring inflation down. Unless a recession arrives or some sort of crisis breaks out, the hike cycle cannot just stop there and must be continued or inflation will just stay high at the current level.

Christian doctor fired for refusing to use trans pronouns cites genesis, appeals to European court
The firing of a Christian doctor in the UK who refused to use hypothetical transgender pronouns for patients during a training session was deemed lawful in court, marking the first time free citizens were ruled to engage in “compelled speech” on transgender ideology. Dr. David Mackereth is now appealing for justice to the European Court of Human Rights, with Christian Legal Centre arguing that his freedom of religion and expression was violated by his former employer, the Department for Work and Pensions. Mackereth received partial vindication from the General Medical Council regulative body, which ruled that his “gender-critical” views would not impair his fitness to practice.

National Review: The Supreme Court Stifles Art
The Supreme Court Stifles Art
The legalities of borrowing original art to create a new product are complicated and were recently scrutinized by the US Supreme Court. The case revolved around artist Andy Warhol's use of a 1981 photograph of musician Prince and started when Lynn Goldsmith, the photographer, complained that Warhol's depiction did not sufficiently transform the original work. The Court sided with Goldsmith, arguing that Warhol's Orange Prince silk screen violated her copyright. While Kagan and Roberts dissented, the case highlights how restrictive copyright laws could harm innovation, as demonstrated by the successful careers of De La Soul and Girl Talk and the popularity of YouTube videos known for mashing up artistic genres.

Wife Of Missing Sub’s Pilot Is Great-Great-Granddaughter Of Famous Couple Who Perished On The Titanic
The missing sub piloted by OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush has an eerie connection to Titanic passengers Isidor and Ida Straus. Rush's wife Wendy Rush is the great-great-granddaughter of the wealthy couple who went down with the "unsinkable" ship. Isidor Straus reportedly refused to enter a lifeboat, making sure women and children took priority over him, while Ida stayed by his side as the ship sank.

Fox News: Daily use of low-dose aspirin may increase anemia risk in healthy older adults: study
Daily use of low-dose aspirin may increase anemia risk in healthy older adults: study
Taking daily low-dose aspirin is associated with an increased risk of developing anemia in older adults, a study has found. A group of 19,114 people aged over 65 were given either a placebo or 100mg of aspirin to gauge its effect on blood iron levels and the risk of incident anemia. The results showed an increased risk of anemia and a decline in the levels of hemoglobin and serum ferritin for participants taking low-dose aspirin, independent of any major bleeding. Almost 50% of Americans over 65 take aspirin for preventive purposes, according to the report.

American Thinker: Dr. Hotez the COVID vaccine promoter chickens out of debate with Joe Rogan
Dr. Hotez the COVID vaccine promoter chickens out of debate with Joe Rogan
Vaccine expert Peter Hotez refused to debate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on COVID-19 vaccinations after being offered $100,000 by Joe Rogan. He argued that science isn't typically debated, prompting backlash as scientific method encourages open discussion. Hotez has promoted the vaccine on multiple media platforms and is considered a pandemicist prognosticator. The decision not to debate has ended potential discussion about the vaccine's trustworthiness, while supporters accused critics of spreading misinformation and launched a GoFundMe page to support Hotez.

Plantain: A First Aid Weed With Antibiotic, Antiviral, and Pain-Blocking Effects
Plantain, a common herb found in many backyards and hiking trails, can be used to make a natural first-aid kit. It has a variety of healing properties, including anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antiviral, pain-blocking, and more. Plantain can be used topically for bee stings, bug bites, minor cuts, scrapes, and other skin irritations. Plantain can be used fresh or made into a salve by infusing it in oil and adding beeswax and rosemary essential oil. It's important to use organic plantain to avoid pesticides and herbicides and to avoid harvesting near freeways or areas where dogs have relieved themselves.

The trial caused controversy, with defense lawyers and the church disputing the allegations. Scientology is known for its celebrity adherents, such as Tom Cruise and the late Kirstie Alley, but it has also faced criticism and accusations of abuse, with former members like Leah Remini speaking out against the organization.

Chicago Cubs Look Forward To Growing Game, Sightseeing In London
The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals are excited to play a two-game series in London this week, despite disrupting their usual routine. Major-league teams don't usually interrupt their 162-game schedule and six-week spring training. However, the Cubs are thrilled to be part of the second set of Major League Baseball games to be played in Europe. MLB plans to host games in more European countries in the future.

God's 15 miracles: Abortion survivor tells how her dad's prayers doomed her mom's 6 abortion attempts
Lauren Eden survived six failed abortion attempts by her mother and is now fighting to dispel the lies of abortion. Despite being born prematurely at 26 weeks, Lauren says she "had no brain damage and very few complications from my premature birth". Her father, a college senior at the time, prayed for God's timely intervention, which he said led to about 15 chain reactions. Lauren has since graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in broadcast news and now advocates for saving babies' lives from abortion. She will be the keynote speaker at the National Right to Life Convention in June.
