The Epoch Times: House Digs Deeper Into Chinese-Owned Battery Company's Rescinded Grant From Biden DOE
House Digs Deeper Into Chinese-Owned Battery Company's Rescinded Grant From Biden DOE
House Republicans are questioning a Department of Energy (DOE) official over how Chinese-owned battery firm Microvast was set to receive a $200m taxpayer-funded grant under President Biden's energy-related spending. Microvast qualified for the cash as part of the bipartisan infrastructure law; however, questions soon arose over its ties to the Chinese Communist Party, and senators began to pressure the DOE over the grant. Microvast was ultimately denied the grant in May 2023. The move by the Biden administration comes as Republicans voice concerns about Chinese influence in the US, particularly ahead of China hosting the Winter Olympics.

Durham hearing Democrats bring back these awful Capitol Hill memories
Special Counsel John Durham faced accusations of being a MAGA stooge and lacked credibility from Democrats during a recent House Judiciary Committee hearing. Durham's investigation into Russian collusion uncovered an abundance of bias and lack of evidence in the probe. Tennessee Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen warned that Durham's association with the Trump administration would damage his reputation and potentially result in his demise. Democrats have attacked experts, whistleblowers, and former FBI agents who raised their concerns regarding Russian collusion, and Durham is the newest target.

Ford Set to Axe Hundreds of Aussie Jobs in Bid to ‘Improve Efficiency’
Ford has announced it is cutting 400 jobs from its Australian workforce, with most of the job losses expected to start in September. “The majority of these will be in product development and design, with a small number in other functions," Ford said in an email. Australian Manufacturing Workers Union Vehicle Industry Coordinator commented that of the 400 jobs set to go, 350 are white-collar workers, with around 50 being blue-collar workers. The news of the job losses follows an announcement in August 2022 that the car giant would cut approximately 3,000 jobs, mainly in North America and India, as the company moves to catch up with Tesla and gears towards electric vehicle production.

Left vs. Left: Labor PM Says Greens Stonewalling Housing Fund for Political Gain
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese criticized the Greens for opposing the Housing Affordability Future Fund (HAFF) and potentially causing a double dissolution standoff, citing an article by Green's housing spokesman Max Chandler-Mather in the left-wing American socialist journal Jacobin. The Greens were accused of opposing HAFF because it could demobilize their potential voter base. The delay in passing the HAFF bill costs Australians $1.3 million per day, and housing advocates call for the bill to be passed.

Forbes: How To Escape From A Submarine Stranded On The Sea Bed
How To Escape From A Submarine Stranded On The Sea Bed
Submariners have limited options for escaping a stranded submarine, due to the effects of extreme pressure on the human body. Modern submarine deep escape systems are effective down to 600 feet, but are challenging, traumatic, and can cause injuries. The US Navy is developing an enhanced Deep Escape System that doubles the current depth and is considering liquid breathing. As long as there are crewed submarines, there will be submarine accidents and vessels ending up on the seabed, and rescue technology will continue to improve.

Spectator USA: Je suis Karen
Je suis Karen
The term "Karen" has evolved from a playful term to describe entitled behavior to a racial archetype for a particular kind of privileged white woman, which can lead to irreparable damage to one's life. The turning point for Karen came in 2020 with the Amy Cooper incident, which identified Amy as a dangerously privileged white woman, but a year later, critical details revealed that there was much more to the story. Increasingly, we may need Karens more than ever to maintain order in a country losing its grip on order.
