Townhall: We Need New Political Choices
We Need New Political Choices
Biden and Trump are both past their prime, much like baseball legend Satchel Paige in his final years. Age diminishes talents, and we cannot have these old guys leading Team America against authoritarian All-Stars like China and Russia. America should consider passing a constitutional amendment prohibiting any federal government employee from staying on the job past 80 or running for president if they will turn 80 during a four-year term. The mistakes old folks make can be harmful, as seen with Biden's recent name-calling of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Trump's media trial strategy. It's time for new leadership to take the field.

Fox News: Biden courts Modi as China, Russia ties put India's allegiance in play: 'Golden opportunity'
Biden courts Modi as China, Russia ties put India's allegiance in play: 'Golden opportunity'
President Biden courted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his state visit to the US, as India grows cooler with the current administration and moves closer to Russia and China amid tensions. Biden aims to bring India closer to the US to counter the belligerence of Russia and China. Modi's visit is expected to result in the completion of deals to manufacture jet-fighter engines in India and purchase high-altitude predator drones from the US. They will also discuss security and economic concerns.

Modi, who believes India deserves a much higher and wider role in the world, will help the US counterbalance China's corrupting influence and deepen economic, political, and military engagement with India. India, which has become the world's fifth-largest economy, requires America's support to remain a strong ally. The US and India shared a rosier dynamic during the Trump administration, but Modi's government is solidly in Washington's camp, with plans to deepen ties such as arms, tech, and civilian nuclear energy deals. The relationship is a reality that will carry on post-Biden and Modi.

Townhall: With China on the Move in Africa, Is the U.S. Prepared to Act?
With China on the Move in Africa, Is the U.S. Prepared to Act?
African nations struggle for stable democracy, leading to dictatorship, criminal enterprises, and terrorism. Western powers, including the US, Europe, and the UN, are more problematic than helpful in the region. China, on the other hand, is expanding its presence in Africa, introducing aid and investments of $60 billion, leading to financial instability and indebtedness. The US has a military base in Djibouti, which could be a platform for projecting American power and supporting African development. A joint department task force could aid the continent in rejecting Beijing's influence.

The Morning Briefing: Riley Gaines Is the Hero Sane America Needs This Pride Month
Former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines speaks out against the push to allow biological males who identify as female to compete against women in sports. Gaines has endured ridicule and physical attacks from the LGBTQ+ community for her advocacy. She argues that the push for trans inclusion in women's sports erases women from their own category.

Fox News: Aliens most likely to contact artificial intelligence before humans over likely 'kinship': Expert
Aliens most likely to contact artificial intelligence before humans over likely 'kinship': Expert
Harvard professor Avi Loeb predicts extraterrestrials will contact artificial intelligence before humans due to their likely "kinship." He is currently on an expedition in the Pacific Ocean, searching for an object that crashed near Papua New Guinea back in 2014, to determine if it's a craft from an extraterrestrial civilization. He and his team found a small magnetic sphere of anomalous composition, which may need AI to decipher its purpose and coded. Loeb's expedition is celebrated by UK musician and documentarian Mark Lee Christopher, who directed the upcoming "God Vs. Aliens" film, addressing "the serious issues" of what would play out if extraterrestrials make contact with Earth.

Fox News: AI 'kill switch' will make humanity less safe, could spawn 'hostile' superintelligence: AI Foundation
AI 'kill switch' will make humanity less safe, could spawn 'hostile' superintelligence: AI Foundation
The American AI company, AI Foundation, is cautioning against implementing kill switches in machine systems, as it acknowledges that it could increase the odds of creating a superintelligence that is hostile toward human civilization. A recent survey demonstrated that 42% of polled CEOs agreed that AI could possibly end humanity within five to ten years, and AI Foundation's CMO and Chair, Lars Buttler, states that this debate needs to be elevated. CEO Rob Meadows notes that there is a version of the future without AGI, which could result in AI falling into the wrong hands and causing enormous harm to humanity.

Text to image AI like DALL-E and Midjourney creates detailed images in seconds with a user generated prompt
AI technology can turn text into images with detailed and complex results. Popular software includes Bing Image Creator, DALL-E by OpenAI, Dream, Craiyon, Midjourney and Photosonic. Some software has free versions, but paid versions may be necessary for business purposes. Converting text to image using AI is a simple process of inputting a detailed prompt for the software to generate images quickly. The advantage of text to image AI is its ability to create high quality content at a low price, making it ideal for small businesses.

Townhall: Owners of ‘Smart’ Home Devices Can Be Pretty Dumb
Owners of ‘Smart’ Home Devices Can Be Pretty Dumb
"Smart" devices connect and exchange data with other devices in the Internet of Things, making them powerful tools for companies and government agencies. There is an unquenchable thirst for data that runs headlong against privacy rights, as Americans express concern about the privacy of their personal data. Convenience and fear of crime drive sales of devices such as Ring doorbells, but few customers are familiar with the company's poor record of protecting user data. Despite problems of hacking and misuse of data, sales of "smart" devices continue to climb, and a recent poll shows that 30% of Americans under 30 would have no problem with the government directly surveilling their homes with "smart" devices.

Fox News: This dominant force can tame AI better than politicians
This dominant force can tame AI better than politicians
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is seeking input on how to ensure that AI companies are "accountable." The best way to hold AI companies accountable is by market forces, not government regulation. Business and consumer markets, reputational and financial markets, and societal norms create feedback loops that align the interests of producers with stakeholders. Competition for profit drives this alignment, sparking companies to innovate, develop valuable products and services, and thus benefit society. Market-based approaches are vital to a thriving AI accountability ecosystem. NTIA should take a holistic view, recognizing that accountability comes first from markets.
